Try All Natural Skin Care Products Instead

You have almost certainly been using skin care products for a while already, but there are so many products on the market, aren’t there? It is so hard to make your mind up which is the best. I hope that I can give you a few pointers in the rest of this article.

Daily environmental pollution and the sun’s UV rays increase the body’s production of free radicals. Your body already makes free radicals on a daily basis as a side-product of normal metabolism. However, free radicals can cause mutations in cells including skin cells. This can result in signs of premature senility such as cataracts or ‘old skin’ like wrinkles or even cancer. Therefore, any holistic health regimen must include antioxidants, which eradicate free radicals. Sun block is a front line defense too.

Many health and skin care regimes advocate using sunblock if you go outside, but there is a chance that you will run short of vitamin D by doing that. A lack of vitamin D can lead to osteoporosis, to which older women are particularly susceptible. If you are anxious about this, then you should take vitamin supplements.

Your skin is your largest organ and so you should not be surprised to read that your skin often reflects issues that your internal organs may have. Therefore, if you want good looking skin, you have to take care of your whole body. This basically means, hygiene, diet and exercise. Concentrating on eradicating free radicals is a good tactic too.

Honey is an important component of many skin care products. This is because honey is a natural product and it is the only foodstuff that will not go off. No matter how long you leave it. Look for products involving honey, or just use raw, natural honey yourself!

Honey does not include water, so it is not a moisturizer, but it is very efficient at killing bacteria, including the bacteria that can result in dermatitis.

Olive oil is an excellent moisturizer for the skin and the hair. Try it on hard dry skin on your heels, elbows and knees as well. It is also very effective as a bath oil. Try putting a few drops in your bath next time

Romans used olive oil as a cleanser and you can use it as an exfoliant too. Mix it with sand or brown sugar and rub it on your skin before bathing. There are many ways that you can improve the condition of your skin without going to to the pharmacy, the problem is that most people have forgotten what their grandparents knew. So, instead of reaching for you wallet or purse, do a little research first and possibly you will find that the answer to your skin problems lies in your kitchen cabinets.

Places Where People Live Long

Most people do not look forward to death. They would like to live a long life and endeavour to stay eternally young. The peoples of each country spend billions every year on health care and beauty products.

Some people believe that the length of time you live is written in fate and there is nothing that you can do about it, others think that we just have a certain number of heart beats, but most people believe that genetics, diet and lifestyle are the main influences.

However, there might be another factor worth looking at: your town of residence. There are a few places around the world where people seem to live longer, on average, than is standard for their country or globally.

Take the city of Okinawa in southern Japan. Okinawa has over a million inhabitants, 900 of whom are more than 100 years of age. Japan has an aging populace in general, but nowhere there matches Okinawa for longevity and the percentage of centenarians is between four and five times higher than in the UK or the USA.

Not just do Okinawans live longer, but they also tend to remain healthy until their dying days, which is everyone’s dream. Diet is considered to be the main reason why Okinawans live such long, healthy lives. They consume a great deal of fish, tofu, soya and seaweed and swill it down with plenty of tea.

This makes their diet low in saturated fats and pretty low in salt. However, it is also a broadly-held belief in Okinawa that one ought to just eat until one is 80% full not 100% This may put less strain on the digestive system, but no one is really certain yet if this has a bearing on living a longer, healthy life.

Then there is Loma Linda in California, the USA. The citizens of Loma Linda live an average of five to ten years longer than the residents of near-by towns. The town is mainly Seventh Day Adventist, which preaches vegetarianism, no smoking and no alcohol. Some will look to these reasons as the reasons for living longer.

However, this does not account for why almost everyone, even the smoking, alcohol-drinking, meat-eating inhabitants, lives longer. Others put the longevity down to religious belief, but researchers are puzzled. Maybe going to church and relying on God relieves believers of some of the stress of daily life and stress is famous to be a reason for major illnesses.

Another strange location is Owoda on the Mediterranean isle of Sardinia. It is only a village of less than 2,000 residents but it has far more than the average number of 100 year olds than elsewhere. What is even stranger is that there are as many old men as old women which is not the standard anywhere else in the world.

The famous Mediterranean diet and the pleasant climate are thought to be factors at play here, but it may also have something to do with their genes. The inhabitants were practically isolated for hundreds of years and marriage among relatives was not uncommon. Usually this is not recommended because it can cause abnormalities. It looks like the abnormality that inter-marriage caused for the Owodans is longevity.

First Aid For Camping

Injuries occur even on the most well planned camping trips. You have to not only plan to avoid accidents, but you also have to plan on how to deal with them if and when they take place while camping. The important thing is to remember to remain calm. The worse thing you can do is get flustered.

You have to keep a clear head and just let your first aid training kick in. If you don’t have any first aid training then you should attend some classes before going camping. If you are not composed then you may not administer the correct treatment and this could just make it worse.

Three frequent ailments that befall campers are dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. To most individuals these all seem like the same ailments, and they are, but they each have to be treated in a different way. Confusing which treatment goes with which will not only slow down healing, but it could also cause damage. The foremost common problem when camping is dehydration. The best thing to do is just to keep yourself well hydrated with water.

You may drink nothing but lemonade and tea at home, but if you do that when camping you will quickly find yourself in a hospital room for dehydration. There are a few signs of dehydration besides the obvious thirst. Excessive sweating, rapid breathing, clammy skin, and loss of skin elasticity are all signs of dehydration. Children may also have hollow eyes when dehydrated.

If someone becomes dehydrated when you’re camping then you want to have them rest in the shade and drink plenty of cold water. You’ll also want them to remove any unnecessary clothing. Heat exhaustion is another widespread problem while camping. This is caused by not only too much heat, but can also be caused by too much humidity.

A person with heat exhaustion will have pale, clammy skin, rapid breathing, excessive sweating, thirst and nausea, headache, and exhaustion. Again you’ll want the individual to take a break from camping and completely rest with their feet elevated. Cool water and a shady place are a necessity.

You’ll even want to sponge the person with water. The third common camping complaint is heat stroke. Heat stroke is caused by your body not regulating body temperature correctly, causing your body to overheat. Symptoms are flushed, dry skin, a lack of sweat, rapid and weak pulse, irrational behavior, staggering, headache, and vomiting.

If not diagnosed early and treated this can also lead to a collapse, a seizure, a coma, and even death. If someone gets heat exhaustion while camping you need to get help immediately and get an ambulance. Have them rest in the shade with their head raised.

Use ice or cold water to cool them down and if they are aware make them drink. These three ailments are common while camping and should be watched for and treated right away.

First aid knowledge is essential when camping. Remember that water always helps, so have a lot of it with you at all times. If anything does happen on your camping expedition stay calm and remember what you’ve learned.

If he’s red raise his head, if he’s pale raise his tail, is a good rhyme to help you remember what to do if something happens while you’re camping. Stay cool and hydrated and you should be able to avoid problems like these on your camping trip.

Stress Headaches And How To Treat Them

We all get headaches from time to time, but do you know why you get those headaches? If you just have a headache from time to time, once every couple of of weeks or so, it is not much of a problem, but if you dread your next headache, then you almost certainly do have a problem.

Tension headaches are the most common and tension can be related to stress, but there are also purely stress-related headaches. This sort of headache can also be driven away by a tablet or two from the medicine cabinet, but it is better to get rid of the reason for the headache. Attack the reason not the symptom. The remainder of this piece is about what to do with the various kinds of stress headaches.

Basically, a stress headache happens once the obstacles that are presented to you overwhelm your ability to cope with them. Some people get on well with stress others handle stress less well. Some individuals even thrive on it and others have taught themselves how to de-stress rapidly.

When a person comes across stressful situations, a little bit of our mental resistance against stress is worn away. This is fine and is standard practice, but then as other stresses occur there is less and less defence left to carry on. Attempting to cope when you are beginning to feel weaker and weaker will frequently bring on a stress headache.

A different reason why a stress headache is the most common kind of headache, is because other forms of headache can bring on a stress headache too. The good news is that almost all forms of headaches can be prevented or cured and a stress headache falls into this category.

There are, naturally pharmaceutical medications to cure headaches and there are natural, home remedies as well but there are also non-medicinal methods of treating a stress headache. These other methods include: cognitive therapy, behavioural therapy and physical therapy.

These methods can be studied from books, night school groups, the local library, the Net or by arrangement with your clinic or medical doctor. It is well-worth learning how to employ these techniques because taking drugs or treatments can lead to headaches as well.

Cognitive Therapy: seeks to ‘redirect’ stress headaches. In this course of action, the patient is taught to recognize what begins the stress symptoms and what the onset of a stress headache feels like. Then they are taught how to modify their response to these conditions.

Behavioural Therapy: is a way of changing your life style to prevent the incidence of a stress headache. For example, numerous people reach for comfort foodstuffs or alcohol once they become stressed, but it may be better for you to do something else, |when you feel a stress headache coming on.

Physical Therapy: tries using bio-feedback responses, so that when a stress headache starts, the sufferer strives using relaxation techniques (perhaps yoga) in order to reduce their stress and possibly prevent the stress headache from occurring. Meditation, deep breathing and prayer are some of the other techniques that can be tried.

The Importance Of First Aid For The Workplace

If you own a firm, you are almost certainly required by law to supply some form of First Aid to your employees. There may well be laws governing what degree of service you have to supply, but if there are not, this article will endeavour to help you work out a sensible approach to the question. However, whichever way you look at it, the provision of First Aid in the workshop is very important.

There are in essence four reasons involved in the equation: the administerer of the First Aid, the First Aid kit, the First Aid room and the First Aid apparatus. The causes influencing the above components are: the type of industry you are in, the number of workers, the sort of shifts and your distance from the closest hospital.

The shift factor is vital because you will have to supply a health care worker (at least one) for each shift. If there are employees from many subcontractors on site (such as on a building site) the main contractor ought to supply health care for all the workers on site and make a charge to the bosses of the subcontractors’ companies.

Any agreements between workers and employers and main and sub-contractors should be put in on paper and signed by all parties involved. These agreements should then by photocopied and distributed to everyone concerned.

The employer ought to provide a notice in various prominent locations throughout the site or factory giving information about where the closest trained First Aider is and his or her name. The trained individual should be healthy, responsible, normally at work and be able to leave his or her workstation immediately when required to help.

The First Aiders should receive training from a recognized body and a certificate of competence should be given. If possible, the training should be given in your own workshop so that the trainers can observe any local hardships.

The First Aider ought to get trained in writing records. For example, although the First aider’s obligation ceases when the paramedics arrive, the supplier of First Aid should make and be able to furnish a record of any therapy given before their arrival.

The First Aid box should be maintained regularly. Items that have passed their sell-by-date should be disposed of and replaced and someone has to be given the obligation for doing this and signing a register to say that the inspection has taken place. There ought to be a First Aid box within a few minutes walk of perilous locations like machinery

The kits should contain all standard things such as antiseptic, plasters, bandages, safety pins, scissors, iodine et cetera, but they should also contain remedies specific to your industry, if there are any. It is also a good idea to put a First Aid data sheet in the box simply in case it is not the trained First Aider who has to supply the help.

The Importance of Knowing and Using First Aid

There is an importance of knowing how to give first aid or CPR. Taking a class on first aid can be done at a local community center or hospital. When taking such a class, these are the items an individual will most likely learn. As an individual learns what to do in their first aid class, they will be taught the A-B-C?s of first aid.

Now, this does not mean A-B-C as in bullet points, no, this is a mnemonic saying. So, whilst administering first aid to anybody, they ought to be getting help from a trained person for clearing their Airway, Breathing properly or Circulation in their heart.

An airway which is blocked has to be attended to immediately. Being able to clear anyone?s airway is important for supporting their life. If the airway is not open, it will most likely affect that person?s mind and body functions. In turn, this will cause a sudden deterioration of that person?s life.

As you can see, having an open airway permits a person to react to you and sustain their life. The open airway also keeps oxygen flowing to the brain. Without oxygen to our brain, there may be permanent damage as well. Just as vital as opening a person?s airway is, so too is getting them to breathe again.

These two facets, airway and breathing, might seem the same to you, but they have two different functions for a first aid responder to achieve. When it comes to breathing, that person will require some help. When the airway is open, they may not be breathing in the right manner.

Having a person breathe, on their own, is equally as vital as having an open airway. Both of these functions require the passage of oxygen to the brain and this is why the objective of a first aid responder is to help that person breathing again without assistance.

Just as important as opening the airway and breathing is, so also is allowing circulation to the heart. The human heart is an astounding muscle but when a person?s heart is in trouble, they will need urgent care in order to make certain that they stay alive.

If the human heart is not getting oxygen and beating as intended, there may be a loss of life. Every step given to an injured person, from a first aid responder, is vital. Every action received, in the order given, is also vital.

All three A-B-C measures above, having been learned in a CPR class, and then used as trained by a first aid responder is necessary to the survival of the injured person. In fact, seeing if a person has a pulse and is breathing is the first thing to be done when helping a person in trouble.

As recently as 2010, the American Heart Association requested that the A-B-C?s be converted to C-A-B. Now, when performing first aid on an adult, it is recommended to do chest compressions first, and then see if the airway is open and if a person can breathe on their own. The original A-B-C?s can still be utilized on infants and children.

How Sleep Apnea Can Slow Down Your Life

Sleep Apnea, if you have this health difficulty, then you already know the symptoms and how it affects your everyday life. If, on the other hand, you have merely heard of sleep apnea, but do not know what it is, let me share with you what the indications are and how you can treat this sleeping problem at home.

When an individual is not able to sleep without interruption at night, this can be irritating and frightening. Breathing is what everyone does, day in and day out. If someone is sleeping, and they stop their regular routine of breathing, this is called sleep apnea. Newborns, at times, forget to breathe and they as well have bouts of sleep apnea.

That is why it is vital for a nurse or parent to watch their newborn whilst sleeping. Not being able to breathe whilst sleeping, whether a newborn or adult, will cut off oxygen to the brain and might cause irreversible injury. Even if breathing only stops for ten or more seconds.

There are a variety of methods to recognize sleep apnea in a person. One way is how an individual sleeps at night or if they feel the need to sleep in the daytime. As it turns out, snoring is a kind of apnea and if all you want to do is sleep during the daytime, this is a cause for apprehension because one way or another oxygen is being cut off from the brain.

Along with these two obvious indications, an individual wakes up with headaches which never happened before, not being able to remember the simplest of items, along with concentrating at work or play.

If you think apnea is something you are struggling with, it is vital to see a physician straight away. This is not the easiest health issue to pinpoint.

Being healthy is everybody?s aim and since breathing is something carried out daily, without thinking of it, the moment breathing is disrupted is the time to get in touch with your GP.

When you see your doctor, they should be asking you about the symptoms above, along with asking if you are going through depression and mood swings. Now, your GP may prescribe such tactics as sleeping on your side, instead of your back and taking various decongestants.

These are ways to stop sleep apnea for those with a mild case. On the other hand, if the apnea is more severe, a sleeping mask will be something to think about using in order to keep oxygen going to the brain.

One thing a person suffering from sleep apnea must not do is take sleeping pills. Sleeping tablets will cause even more breathing issues. Although, taking homeopathic supplements or burning an aromatherapy scent in your home will permit you to relax and make it easier for a person to sleep at night. These are known as non prescriptive ways to cure sleep apnea or at least relax.

Just bear in mind that the indications above are serious and if they are something you are feeling, please get in touch with your physician. These indications are not to be taken lightly.

Finally, if you are smoking, this as well you ought to stop. There is a connection between sleep apnea and smoking as inhaling smoke is not the best thing for the respiratory system.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on several topics, but is now concerned with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. If you want to know more, please visit our web site at Sleep Apnea Surgery Techniques

Office Stress

Office stress is a very frequent occurrence. Office stress comes about because of the pressures of the work, which is frequently not so easy to define, particularly in a small firm. In a large office, jobs are quite clearly defined and everybody knows what they are responsible for.

In a small office though, the few members of staff often have to cover a dozen or so different jobs and so office stress can build up. Office stress can build up rapidly if the boss is unsympathetic or a member of a small office team goes off pregnant or sick whether a temporary stand-in is found or not.

Office stress is a very real phenomenon especially in a small business. For example, it is not uncommon for a company with $1 annual turnover to be managed by a staff of two – the office manager and a secretary. This means that the office manager has to be able to do each job and it is hoped that the secretary will be able to do most of them too. This creates office stress.

The secretary-cum-assistant will need to understand filing, typing, word-processing, data entry for book-keeping software, how to read job sheets, time sheets and invoices. The secretary will also have to welcome visitors, but keep sales people at bay, while staying polite.

The secretary will also have to have good phone manners and be able to reply to enough questions to be able to shield the manager from time wasters and deal with serious questions if the manager is not in. These jobs are difficult enough on their own, but office stress builds up if you find yourself trying to do three jobs at once and that is not uncommon.

You could be entering time sheet data the manager has gone to visit site, when the phone rings with an inquiry and a potential client comes in looking for a quote. This is enough to make office stress soar.

The manager will also need to be able to carry out these tasks, but the office supervisor will also be responsible for management accounts, pay, job costing, pricing, writing letters and keeping up with the law as the Company Secretary, which means that he/she will have to know enough about employment law to give advice to the directors.

This leads to terrific office stress. Besides all this, the office manager is usually responsible for paying and collecting taxes and keeping up with regulations and employment law. In these days of litigation and government claw backs, mistakes in any legal field are punished with expensive fines or compensation claims. This degree of responsibility also just increases the level of office stress.

The difficulty is that office stress, like most types of stress, leads to tension and irritability and irritability can lead to a short fuse and flashes of temper, which just goes to worsen the situation and raise the degree of office stress another peg.

The degrees of office stress soar if an important piece of office equipment breaks down, because it is always just as you need it. Because it can take hours or even days to get it repaired, you are expected to be able to carry out minor repairs yourself. And then if the boss is an unsympathetic or just unlikeable person then the level of office stress can get even worse.

Facing Acne: How to Handle Its Effects

Acne is a horrible condition, because it not only affects people’s looks but it can have an effect on them psychologically as well. Doctors can go a long way to clearing up acne, but the psychological effects can take years longer to get over. One of the main concerns is that most of those who have the problem of facing acne and coping with its effects are fairly young and not actually emotionally robust enough to do it.

We all know how cruel people and particularly children can be. Children and teenagers with acne can get taunted and bullied until they think that their life is not worth living and they certainly do not want to go back to school. If this leads to truancy, the sufferer’s whole life could become affected. It is definitely no joke for those who have the daily difficulty of facing acne and coping with its effects.

So, how can you assist a child or friend who is suffering from the social stigma of having acne more than the acne itself? It is not easy, because frequently people do not want to talk about it or they pretend that they do not have a difficulty.

However, the chances are that they do. It is the same as an overweight woman saying she does not want to lose weight – balderdash. They are just saying that to save face.

The best tactic is to remind your child that acne is a sign of the body changing from a child to an adult and that this process does not last that long. Usually, a few months or a couple of of years at most. It is cold comfort to know that the acne might ‘only last a couple of of years’, but at least it is not forever. It will pass.

In the meantime, you can take your child to see your doctor or a dermatologist. There are things that you can do to improve the condition and they are neither difficult nor costly. There are a number of different reasons for acne or types of acne, but they all boil down to the same thing – too much oil is being trapped under the skin and when the pressure builds up, the skin gives way. That is why it is known as an eruption or a break-out.

Go to the doctor’s with your child so that you comprehend the problem too and can give timely advice and reminders of what the doctor said to do and what not to do.

Basically, you have to be there for your child at this, what is almost certainly, the most difficult and most testing time of his or her life so far. Be certain that the child knows that you are prepared to do what it takes to help them over this episode in their life and do not try to belittle acne or its psychological effects or you run the risk of making your youngster think that it is stupid.

Go on line with your teen, there are literally thousands of resources, web sites and blogs that cover the subject of facing acne and how to cope with it.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on lots of topics, but is currently concerned with how to Facing Acne – How To Cope. If you have an interest in acne, please go over to our website now at Treating Acne Think.

How To Go About First Aid Training On Line

Everybody ought to take a course on First Aid, because no one knows when they will be the first person on the scene of an accident. Each parent should know about basic First Aid because children are so accident-prone and everybody should know some First Aid in order to become a decent citizen.

Fundamental First Aid is not hard and you can easily learn how to deal with cuts, fractures, choking, burns, scalds, fainting and several other frequent predicaments.

However, numerous individuals just do not have the time to do First Aid training. For this reason, many firms are now offering First Aid training on line. In fact, apart from learning how to cope with everyday physical worries, you can also learn how to do artificial resuscitation (CPR) and cope with heart attacks and drowning.

It is a fact that some individuals say that you can not learn First Aid on line or by reading a book, but others say that it is better to know something than nothing, that practicing on a dummy is not much use and that most people will hopefully not have to use their First Aid training for years and so will have forgotten the finer points anyway. A happy medium may be to do First Aid training on line first of all and then take a test at a training centre

The fact is that you can learn many items of knowledge during First Aid training on line. You can learn about hygiene, how to decontaminate wounds, how to wrap a bandage and apply a tourniquet or a make-shift tourniquet.

You will also be taught how to help a victim of burns and scalding, which you are much more liable to come across than a victim of heart attack or stroke.

There are many First Aid training courses on line and some are much better than others. As you know, computers are very powerful nowadays, so you ought to look for a course which makes full use of the Internet and your computer’s graphics capabilities.

Computers can produce very life- like images, so do not purchase an old First Aid training package that consists of merely thousands of words but no (interactive) images.

First Aid training on line is not costly and is maybe perfect for those who require a refresher course or a reference manual that they can pick up from time to time. It is also very useful to have a quiz at the end of each chapter to ensure that you have understood what you have read.

Attempt to find a package offering First Aid training on line that can be upgraded, so that you can purchase the modules that you would like to learn. If you purchase First Aid training on line that includes chapters on industrial chemical burns, it is merely padding for most individuals because you will never need to use them. Start with First Aid training on line that deals with the home, the garden and the car and move on from there, if you need to.

What First Aid Training Do Boy Scouts Get?

The Boy Scout Brigade is a global organization and the rules of membership might vary a little from country to country, but the fundamentals of scouting are the same the world over. One of the codes of belief of scouting is to ‘Be Prepared’ and being prepared involves being willing to help others in distress, which also includes First Aid.

Boy Scouts are encouraged to take badges such as the First Aid badge, there are also badges representing different degrees of ability. One of the items that a scout learns while training for his first First Aid badge is how to put together a personal First Aid kit.

A typical fundamental Boy Scout’s First Aid kit will include such things as soap, bandages, plasters, iodine, scissors, matches, tweezers and safety pins. At a higher degree, the kit may be supplemented with a triangular bandage, insect repellent, talcum powder, aspirins or paracetamol, gloves and a mouthpiece for giving artificial respiration.

A scout and especially a sea scout will learn how to put a person in the coma position and will also be shown how to get water out of a person pulled from the water.

The First Aid training that Boy Scouts get now has been upgraded numerous times over the last fifty years due to advances in medical knowledge and the explosion of aids and other contagious diseases.

Scouts lead a very dynamic existence and are always building structures and climbing. This means that there are quite a number of sprains and fractured bones among scouts, so it is not surprising that caring for fractured bones features largely in their First Aid training.

In fact, one of the first items that a cub or a scout is taught is how to use their neckerchief as a triangular bandage to support a fractured arm and how to fold it in order to tie splints to a fractured leg.

Scouts going for higher degree First Aid badges will be shown more detailed courses which might include how and when to apply CPR; how to distinguish a victim of stroke or heart attack; what to do if someone is undergoing an epileptic fit; what to do if someone is unconscious or suffering from concussion; how to deal with shock and much more.

Lord Baden Powell founded the Boys Scout Brigade as a sort of preliminary to going into the army, but it has not been regarded like that for numerous decades. Nowadays the scouts give boys (and sometimes girls) and teenagers the opportunity to do things that they otherwise would never have the opportunity to experience – activities like boating, canoing, camping, map-reading et cetera.

These activities put the children at a higher danger of injury, but the scouting organization counters that increased danger by training all their boys in First Aid and both the events and the First Aid training stays with them for the remainder of their lives. It has with me and I will always be indebted to the Boy Scouts for the items they taught me and permitted me to experience.

Owen Jones, the writer of this article, writes on numerous topics, but is at present concerned with First Aid trainer courses. If you have an interest in RC vehicles, please go over to our website now at First Aid Courses Online.

Personal First Aid Kits

It is good advice to “Be Prepared!”, which is the motto of the Boy Scouts. But why give up being prepared when you are an adult? It does not make sense.

One of the facets of being prepared, is to know something of First Aid and having a First Aid box so that you can apply your knowledge.

Once you adopt the attitude of being prepared to deliver First Aid, then there are a couple of things that you have to do next. The first step is to position decently equipped First Aid kits wherever they may become needed such as in the house, in the car and in the garage or work shed.

You can buy these kits on line and in the mall, but you ought to first find out what you should have in your First Aid kit. The contents of these kits can be different for each place that you would like to place one. There will be generic things for each kit, but there may be specialized items too.

Whilst we are at it, position a fire extinguisher by each kit while you are at it. If a fire breaks out you will need to know where the extinguisher is before you need the First Aid box.

After you have thought about where to put your kits, you can begin thinking of what you are going to put in them. Every kit should include items like one inch bandages, iodine, alcohol swabs, plasters, aspirin or and paracetamol, soap, tweezers, scissors, a triangular bandage, throwaway gloves, a few matches and a candle, but there is a lot more that you can include.

However, there are also other things that you can include like a tube of super glue, a thermometer, hydrocortizone, insect repellent, anti-histamine and a torch with extra batteries. If you are putting this kit in a car or boat, you could add a blanket, socks, and gloves.

Another item that you may like to add is a pamphlet on first Aid, just in case it is not you who has to use the kit. This is an vital point, because if this is a car First Aid kit, someone may find you after you have had an accident, but they may not know what to do.

Everyone should take at least one First Aid course and if you are a head of your household it is up to you to persuade the others to learn some fundamental First Aid as well.

It is normally easy enough to find First Aid courses locally. You can look on line, in the Yellow Pages, at your doctor’s surgery or at the civic offices. Frequently the courses are free or sponsored, but at any rate they are not costly.

If you are working, your employer might be receptive to a request for group First Aid training. The difficulty is not finding good First Aid training courses on or off line – the trouble is getting it organized. However, the first step is to make enquiries to find out where the courses are taught.

Do You Want Beautiful Hair?

All women and a growing number of men want shiny hair. This is because shiny hair is thought of as belonging to a healthy, vivacious person. The fact is that as we get older, men’s hair falls out and women’s hair becomes more brittle. So how can you have age-defying hair?

There are a few tricks of the trade, some of which are pretty obvious once you give them a bit of thought. The first and most vital tip is not to over wash your hair. Your head produces oil to protect your hair and it does that because it thinks that hair is vital to help it regulate the temperature of the brain.

OK, these days we can put a hat on or erect a parasol, but it takes the body a long time to mutate. The point is to not wash all the oil off your hair too often. You need to wash the muck off your hair but not all the oil.

Consequently, rub the shampoo into your scalp and not into your hair. As the shampoo runs off your hair it will take the dirt off your hair with it but only some of the oil. This makes a huge difference.

The tip above is the most important piece of advice because it applies to whatever shampoo you buy, but the next tip applies to what shampoo to purchase. Do not stint on shampoo if you want lovely-looking hair.

Do you remember the days when you had to wash your hair, rinse it and then apply conditioner and then rinse again? Well those really were the good old days as far as hair is concerned. These all-in-ones clean on the principle that the conditioner will not work in the presence of oil and the shampoo will not work if there is no oil.

This means that on the first wash, half the shampoo is wasted, but the shampoo has to scour your hair for the second wash (conditioner) to do its job. On the second wash the conditioner does its job, but the shampoo half goes down the drain having done nothing.

In other words, your inexpensive container of shampoo with conditioner costs double as much as you paid for it, so why not buy separate shampoo and conditioner in the first instance?

The combined shampoo and conditioner is a con because it makes you think that you are saving time and thereby getting something for nothing. You are not.

The best tips you can hear for your hair is to buy a mild shampoo without conditioner. By all means buy one that says that it is better suited to your sort of hair if you want. Then do some research on your hair sort and natural colour on the Net and make your own conditioner or buy one.

Individuals used to use vinegar, beer, dandelions and all kinds of items and one that I have recently come across is Butterfly Pea. Do not become guiled by adverts and time saving if you really like your hair

Why Do A First Aid Course?

Have you ever been the first individual on the scene of a bad accident? I have – a cyclist took a corner rather fast and too sharp. He came off his bike and was knocked unconscious. I went over, but I had no idea what to do. I felt sorry for him because I could not help and I felt embarrassed for myself and still do, ten years later.

This is why everybody should know the basics of First Aid. Everyone ought to know how to make an accident victim comfortable and how to resuscitate him or her if you have to until medical professionals arrive.

Everybody should know what to do in the event of accidents that cause such common events as choking, drowning, fractured limbs, heart attacks, burns, scalding and electric shock. Everyday accidents that not everybody sees every day luckily.

A basic First Aid course will teach the ‘Four P’s', although they might call it by a different name. The Four P’s are Preservation of life; Prevention of further injury; Promotion of recovery and the Protection of yourself.

This is achieved by the application of ‘ABC’, which stands for ‘Airways, Breathing and Circulation’, which means that first you ought to check the nose, mouth and throat for blockages, then check for breathing and resuscitate if you have to, then reduce any bleeding with bandages and tourniquets, if necessary.

Knowledge of CPR or artificial resuscitation is also desirable and it is also a major component of any First Aid course. Artificial resuscitation ought to be applied if the patient has stopped breathing or the heart has stopped beating. Some fundamental training is preferential before applying CPR, because it can injure a patient that does not require it.

Besides just wanting to become a decent citizen, there are a number of other factors why you might like to take a First Aid course. Some jobs need that those who carry them out have been on a First Aid course. Professions that may have to have knowledge of First Aid include: supervisors of children like play school leaders, teachers, scout masters and youth club leaders.

Some occupations will more than likely supply their own First Aid course. This would almost certainly be true in the police force and in factories where special industrial accidents might occur such as chemical burns.

If your First Aid is a bit rusty, you should consider taking a refresher First Aid course. You will find numerous First Aid courses once you start searching. Your local community centre may arrange a First Aid course from time to time, so might your local hospital, police force, ambulance and fire services.

If not, you will always find a First Aid course on line. If you take a First Aid course on line, you will probably have to attend an actual test of your information if you require a certificate, although all the study can be done at home, which will save time.

Before you leave, here is another mnemonic to help you remember: ‘BBB’, breathing before bleeding, bleeding before bones’ or should that be the ’6 B’s'?

Indications Of Stress

We are all under stress the majority of the time and a lot of people like to think that they understand stress and can use it to get a piece of work done to the best of their capacity, but do you really know what the symptoms of stress are and what it can do to your body? When we are piling the stress onto ourselves, we merely assume that our bodies will adapt and get on with it, but is that actually the case?

The fact is that we all have our own point at which stress is reasonable. This is because stress can be emotional, physical and mental and if you exceed your capacity for any length of time in any of these areas, you can cause short-term or even longer term damage, which could need professional medical help.

If you do not take steps to regain your equilibrium, you will soon find that the apposite role in your life will suffer: that is, your relationships will fail, your physical health will crumble or your ability to do your job in the correct manner will vanish.

The physical manifestations of stress are aches and pains, including headaches, general fatigue and lethargy. Unchecked, these symptoms can lead to migraine, muscle tension and stiffness.

These major alterations to how your body operates can then result in other issues such as diarrhea or constipation, nausea and dizziness. These indications of stress, in turn, can lead to sleepless nights or insomnia.

When it gets this bad, individuals normally turn to medication, but medication can merely give temporary relief such as sleeping tablets. This can lead to dependence.

If the sufferer already has a weak heart, this combination of indications of stress can lead to chest pains, palpitations and erratic heart beat, which in turn can be precursors of heart disease. Please note that this chain of activities is not guaranteed.

Individuals are different and some doctors are better than others, but stress and heart disease have been shown to be connected.

Symptoms of stress can also show themselves in behavioural problems. These indications of stress frequently begin with insomnia or only problems getting to sleep and waking up still tired. However, feeling continually dog-tired has a knock-on impact on our emotions – we tend to become more emotional, but usually in a negative way. Often this means over-reacting, like snapping at someone who has asked a perfectly reasonable question.

This sort of response can lead to the sufferer shunning society. Self-pity, isolation, loss of job and depression can soon follow.

So, you have to learn how to get off that slippery slope, the downward coil of everyday stress. The place to begin is the mind. You have to learn how to recognize when ‘things are getting on top of you’ and learn how to unwind.

There are several successful techniques including meditation, breathing exercises, aromatherapy and playing soothing music in order to bring about a condition of relaxation in your mind.

While you are learning to take the symptoms of stress head-on with your mind, take some time to pamper your body too. There are also many methods of doing this, but popular methods are taking a sauna or having a massage or pedicure, facial or manicure. Having your hair done.

Physical exercise is a great reliever of stress as well and it does not have to be arduous. A thirty minute walk, two times a day is sufficient for most people, but you might grow to like it and then it is the more the better.

Finally, you could take a good look at your diet. You do not have to go overboard, but do you drink too much coke, coffee or tea? Do you consume a lot of rubbish? Are you eating enough fruit?

You Can Treat Acne At Home!

Acne is a very distressing condition. Individuals are so conscious of their looks and acne does not help in the ‘decent looks department’. What is even worse is that most sufferers of acne are fairly young – teenagers, in fact – and are not best prepared emotionally to be different from their peers and are particularly not equipped to be spottier than others.

Not that acne is the same as having a couple of spots every now and again, which can happen to you all through your life. Acne is a precise condition, but it does occur mostly in teenagers during puberty. Normally, acne disappears when adulthood comes along or shortly thereafter.

Numerous teenagers and their families spend a huge sum of money on acne cures, but is there another way of lessening the effects of acne? It definitely is very dubious that it can be ‘cured’ like chicken pox. It is rather an ‘illness’ like a cold or the flu, it has to run its course.

If you have a difficulty with acne, it is because your body is producing more oil than your skin can let escape quickly, so it creates a little ‘volcano’ and erupts, when the pressure is high enough. Let us take a look at why this occurs.

Firstly, you have to wash regularly. Now I am certain that you do that already, but do not become tempted to wash too frequently. Over sanitizing does not help, because the skin needs some oil on it to remain supple. If you keep sanitizing that ‘natural moisturizer’ off, your body will only produce more to replace it.

Therefore, wash as anyone one else would, but not more frequently and do not use perfumed soap. You may be allergic and you do not want more possibilities to cloud the issue.

Your hair and your hands also carry a certain amount of oil for the same reason, so keep them off your face. Your hair and your hands are oily and dust and pollution stick to them. If they touch your face, you are risking clogging up more pores with oily debris and thus worsening your acne issue.

Tie your hair back if it is long and use a handkerchief if you have to touch your face. Other things that come in everyday contact with your face that could get oily and dirty are pillow cases and towels. Therefore, shower before going to bed and use clean pillowcases each night.

As far as towels go, just use your own. Change it each day and if you require a towel outside your home, either carry your own or far better, use paper towels and do not rub, but dab your face dry.

There are specialist creams you can use to replace soap, but some of them are very harsh, which could trigger an over production of oil again. Simply remember that you have to let acne run its course, but you do not have to encourage it either.

Strategies For Treating Acne

Most people with acne attempt to treat their blotchy skin with creams, face washes, soaps, lotions and treatments. However, the easiest way to cure acne is by altering your diet and getting rid of acne-producing items such as fried food. A healthy diet, rich in natural unprocessed foods such as vegetables, fruits, grains and beans is the first recommendation for treating acne.

Foods containing trans-fatty acids, milk, milk products, margarine, shortening and synthetically hydrogenated vegetable oils, as well as oily foods, should be avoided. It seems the prevalence of acne in the United States is caused by the typical American diet. Americans tend to eat fried food in large quantities, usually cooked in the most harmful of fats and oils.

However, not all fats are bad, but the fats that average Americans eat make them more prone to get acne and other skin problems. Items that can cause are ice cream, cheese, bacon, chocolate and milk. Furthermore, acne can’t actually be treated using creams and soaps because the root cause of the problem exists below the skin.

Pimples, spots and blemishes are produced by bacteria and other irritants lying below the skin’s oil glands and hair follicles, which are generally caused as a result of insufficient hygiene, squeezing and poor diet.

This poor diet could be caused by too high a proportion of such items as processed, fatty, fried and sugary foods in your diet. A diet that is good for your skin must consist of raw and lightly cooked vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables that contain valuable trace minerals and are rich in fibre. Fresh green vegetables are essential. You should also include in your diet lean protein sources and complex carbohydrates, such as rice, whole-grain bread and potatoes.

These fibre-rich foods will help ensure a healthy gastrointestinal tract, which is especially vital to the control of acne. You should eat three healthy meals daily in order to supply you with sufficient important nutrients and lower your craving for sweet or/and fatty, fried food.

You should eat lots more food that is rich in vitamin A, such as apricots, watermelons, and broccoli, along with lean beef, nuts, lentils and whole grains, because they are rich in zinc, which can also be helpful in treating acne breakouts. It’s also imperative to drink lots of water to help flush the poisons out that encourage acne.

Treating Acne Scars

Acne scars are an awful memento of the having suffered pimples or even acne before. They are unbearable because of their seeming longevity and their non-complimentary appearance. Generally speaking, acne scars are rather difficult to eradicate, but tissue regrowth is not impossible these days with all the fantastic technological developments.

In general terms, by acne scarring, we are referring to the healed lesions caused by an acne infection. While most scars are temporary and disappear naturally in time, those from the more severe forms of acne can become permanent.

Acne scarring can be prevented if the sufferer visits a doctor when it is in the incipient stage, particularly if nodules or cysts accompany the red pustules on the skin’s surface. If the bouts of acne have marked your skin, you will have to approach the issue from another perspective, which most of the time means surgery.

Laser resurfacing is one possibility of removing the damaged skin areas and stimulating the natural regeneration of the tissue beneath. The procedure requires only local anaesthesia and can take between a few minutes and an hour depending on the extent of the problem.

Fractional laser therapy is one of the most recent methods of eliminating acne scarring. It involves surgical intervention at deep skin layers. The treatment is superior to both dermabrasion and laser resurfacing in terms of quality and involves a much reduced healing period. Nevertheless, fractional laser therapy lies within the reach of only those few fortunate people, who can afford it, since it is the most expensive acne treatment available so far.

It can happen that other sessions are necessary to improve the condition of the superficial layers of skin, before they can tackle the deep level treatment of the acne scarring. The doctor may inject collagen into the scars in order to elevate the existing skin level or she/he may suggest micro-dermabrasion for the same purpose. Trying to carry out chemical peels at home is a bad policy given the chance of aggravating the condition by irritating the scars even more.

As for the types of acne scarring, they can be classified by the way they look. Scarring can result because of an increase of tissue or due to a loss of tissue They both have an adverse impact on the way the face looks. Specialists’ evaluation of the nature of the scars is a very important factor for the decision of adopting one form of treatment or another.

Pregnant Women And Acne Treatment

The treatment of acne is normally the correct move, if you have it, but not always. There are stages in a person’s life when you should not try to cure acne, just because you’d like to and, unfortunately, pregnancy is one of those times. Everyone knows, that this is a tricky period in a woman’s life and that therefore she has to take extra care of herself. If a pregnant woman wants to try to cure her acne, she must make sure that she arms herself with the right information.

This should also be remembered by those women who might get pregnant. The following are some medications for acne that are not recommended for use during pregnancy because they may be harmful for the fetus:

Hormonal therapy which may contain estrogen, flutamide, and spirolactone. They are definitely ruled out, because they are injurious and may lead to some issues for both the mother and the child. It is best see it as a threat.

Isotretinoin treatment is another one that could put a pregnant woman’s life at risk. Isotretinoin has negative issues too, especially for pregnant women and those who are breast-feeding. It could cause severe health issues in both the mother and her unborn baby. Therefore, it is advisable that a woman who is on Isotretinoin must be checked by an expert. Women who are trying to get pregnant must avoid taking Isotretinoin, since it may just trigger negative problems not only for mother but most especially for the child.

Oral tetracyclines, which could be made up of doxycycline, tetracycline and minocycline, must not be an option at all, because it would not do you any good. It has been shown that pregnant women or those who are breast-feeding should refuse the use of this drug because it may produce side effects that could be nothing short of a threat to the life of you and your baby. However, the most common side effect is the permanent discoloration of your teeth or / and bone weakness.

Topical retinoids, like as tazarotene, adapalene and tretinoin, is another group that should be stringently refused. Just like the afore-mentioned treatments, topical retinoids can be a danger to you and your foetus. No matter whether you are pregnant or not, it is just not wise to use any of the drugs mentioned above.

For those women, who are pregnant and have acne, it really is best to stay away from the heavy treatments mentioned here. Instead, why not settle for traditional remedies, like keeping your hair off your face, washing your face three-four times a day, changing your pillow cases every day and eating more fruit and avoiding fatty, oily and spicy food.

Natural Acne Remedies

Every person understands the value of our facial appearance. The more handsome it is, the more advantageous it gets. More than anything else, it is the very first thing that others see when they look at you. In general, our confidence depends on our level of contentment with our physical appearance. When one knows he or she looks good, confidence really zooms.

When growing up, the development of acne or even pimples is a major issue. If you do not have problems involving your face, then congratulations. On the other hand, if you are one of the majority who do have a problem, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Is acne one of your issues? Are you spending too much money on chemical acne remedies? Do you want to apply a treatment but you are worried that it may be too harsh on your skin? Then try a more natural way of curing your acne. You do not have to go very far to do it, because the treatment is right there in your own house. The doctor is within you. The most effective beauty advice of all time is: drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. Hydrating your body will ensure you get rid of your toxins. Take care of your body and take care of your skin.

Healthy and clean mannerisms may also help. Make sure that you do not leave make-up on your skin because it contributes to the clogging of your pores, thereby causing even more pimples and blackheads. Do not sleep with your make-up on. Also, always keep your hair away from your face, because hair contains oil that may create outbreaks of acne in your skin.

Wash your pillow slip and face towels very often. Daily, if possible. They are absorbent and they also hold acne-contributors like oil and bacteria as well. Lastly, never, ever pick your acne or pimples, since you do not want your face to be as infected as your fingernails.

Eat healthy food when you have acne, because you must try to cleanse yourself not only outside but also from the inside. It would really help too, if you could reduce your intake of oily, fatty food. Eating food rich in fibre helps, since the fibre helps clean your body of waste too. Furthermore, eating food that is considered anti-oxidant would help a lot in order for you to maintain a healthy skin. Moreover, food rich in Vitamins A, B and D as well as those rich in calcium, potassium, phosphorus, chloride, magnesium, zinc, iron and sodium is also a great help too.

Following a diet, which is high in beta-carotene and zinc is of great help not only in the prevention but as well as in the healing process and anti-scarring by acne. Yes, beauty is only skin deep, but having beautiful skin will make you feel more beautiful and confident in your self.

How to Treat Acne Successfully

Acne is ghastly. However, it’s not something that cannot be dealt with. There are loads of acne skin care products around. We can classify acne skin care products into 3 broad categories -

* Deterrent or all-purpose acne skin care products; * Over-the-counter, specialised acne skin care items; * Prescription acne skin care products.

The general acne skin care products are the ones that are used as an acne-prevention measure. These include cleansers, make-up removers and similar items that help prevent acne. In the real sense, these acne skin care products are those that should be part of your daily schedule anyway. However, some of these are more orientated to work like an everyday acne skin care product.

These acne skin care products act against the reasons for acne e.g. limiting the production of sebum/oil and avoiding the clogging of skin pores. Essentially, these acne skin care items inhibit the oil from becoming blocked in the skin and consequently hamper the escalation of the bacteria that lead to acne. General acne skin care items also take in exfoliation products like skin peels. These work by exfoliating dead skin cells, hence reducing the possibility of pore-blocking and bacteria development.

Then there are specialised acne skin care products that are available over-the-counter i.e. without the requirement of a prescription. These include products like vanishing creams which remove the extra oil from the skin. Most of these acne skin care items are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and therefore acne). You should start with a product that has a lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5%) and see how your skin reacts to it.

Alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are also common as acne skin care products. You may have to test a few, before you find the acne skin care product that is most successful for you. If nothing seems to work, you should contact a dermatologist.

Prescription acne skin care items are the ones that are prescribed by a dermatologist. These include ointments that can be applied on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical medication. A dermatologist may also suggest a minor surgical process to do away with the contents of pustules. However, never try to squeeze or do this by yourself, as it can lead to the permanent damage of your skin.

Your general practitioner could also prescribe a hormone-based treatment (since hormonal changes are also known to cause acne). Such acne skin care products are known to be very efficacious in some circumstances. So, with all those acne skincare products, combatting acne is really not all that difficult.
