You would imagine that once you have your degree in Music Production you would be well on your way, would you not? But it does not normally work like that. It is false that getting a degree makes acquiring a job easier, because there are more people going for jobs with degrees than ever before and we are in an period when every business is looking for savings. It is true though that you will not ge a decent career with prospects without a degree any more.

So, you have your degree in music production and companies are not falling over themselves to hire you, so what do you do now? Well, one of the things that you should do is put your creative talent to work to unearth ways to get a job in the music industry. Before we get onto the topic of looking for a career, there are a few items that you have to know about music firms.

Most young people dream of acquiring into the music industry and rubbing shoulders with stars even if they do not have any talent. Because of this the music industry as a whole hardly ever has to advertise for vacant jobs although they might be required to by law in some countries.

They will just pay lip service to this law because it is daft, a sop and unenforcable. They will promote from within, use family and hire head-hunters, just like most companies do.

Teachers, lecturers, bands you roadied for, concerts you helped out on – anything – and get in touch with them. Ask if they know of anything going and get their permission to use their name in an interview or career application.

Send out resumes to the precise person by name who has the authority to hire or recommend you. This involves more study. This is a long shot because music production companies are inundated with resumes, but follow yours up with a second letter and enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope. Send a third as well, why not? Then begin following it up by email and phone.

Stay calm, be pleasant, but say that you would like a reply and if you have been rejected with reasons why so that you can correct your short-comings. Try to learn from set-backs and one day it will work out for you.

Electric Blankets

Have you ever used an electric blanket? Some individuals are frightened of lying on something that is plugged into the national grid and I have to admit that when I think of electric blankets in that manner, they do sound quite frightening.

However, there are two kinds of electric blankets: there are those that are intended to stay on all night and there are those that are meant to be switched off and unplugged before you get into bed.

The second sort is of course the one to be suggested for those of a nervous disposition. I have never owned an electric blanket, because my father thought that they were for ‘sissys’, but I have slept in beds that made use of electric blankets.

Whilst I stayed over at my maternal grand-parents’ house or my Aunty Lil’s there was always an electric blanket in the bed. My aunty used a pre-warmer and my grand-parents used the ‘always-on’ variety. As a young boy, I have to say that the ‘always-on’ variety of electric blanket was too warm for me.

However, in those days, in the Sixties, houses were not as draft-proof as they are now and I did not know anyone whose house was centrally heated or double glazed. In fact, everyone that I knew used to put an overcoat on the bed in winter if it got especially cold. It did not cross my mind that that was odd, everyone did it.

The fact is that some people feel the cold more than others and there are many reasons for this ranging from frailty to age and sickness. Another reason for using electric blankets is if it is too expensive to heat the whole house or bedroom. It is always going to be cheaper to heat a bed that it is to heat a bedroom. The cost of pre-heating a double bed is still pennies compared with utilizing an electric fire.

Some people, my wife included, likes to keep the background temperature in the bedroom cold. OK, cold in Thailand is around 20c, but while we were in the UK, she insisted that we slept with the windows open in winter and it was really cold. She is not alone in liking to sleep in a warm bed when her face is cold. She says that she gets a better night’s sleep in this fashion.

If you or a sick or old relative would like to try an electric blanket, be cautious where you get it from. In saying this I mean be wary of buying a cheap electric blanket from abroad off eBay in case it is not manufactured to run off the electric supply that you have in your country.

You also have to make certain that the blanket conforms to the health and safety regulations in your country. Electric blankets are safe if you follow basic health and safety rules, but be cautious of ‘always-on’ blankets if you eat in bed.

I cannot emphasize too strongly that you should only borrow what you require and even then be cautious. It really is a ghastly experience to be working hard when you have finished college and have to pay back huge monthly sums of money that you borrowed recklessly three or four years ago. So, how can you keep the loan amount down?

Restricting The Loan Amount: do you have any investments? Do you have anything you don’t need that you can sell? If you are living on campus, do you need a car? Really? You could also frighten yourself half to death by using one of the many student loan reimbursement calculators. Every time you think of borrowing, work out how much it will cost you when you commence work. How much is the starting remuneration in your profession anyway? Frightened yet? Can you factor in such things as working in the holidays?

Dorm Room Bedding

When you go away to college or university, it is likely that you will be staying in rented accommodation, perhaps in a college dorm or in a guest-house. In these cases, normally all basic furniture is provided for you and in a guest-house, you may be given bedding every week too, but you might have to provide your own. You have probably never purchased bedding before, if going away to college is the first time that you have lived away from home.

Bedding does not have to be expansive, but it is not wise to go for the cheapest sheets and blankets either. Precisely what you require will depend on the level of heating in the building and the locality of the university.

It is worth giving some consideration to colour. You might spend a lot of time in your room studying on your bed in your day clothes. If you are in a dry dusty location, that means that your top blanket or quilt could become dirty pretty quickly.

If you are dead set against laundering this blanket often, then get a darker colour, but that is not the perfect solution. It is better to be able to see the dirt and wash it off.

A talent scout in the music industry has the official title of Artist & Repertoire Co-ordinator or A&R Co-ordinator for short. A step up from this position is the A&R Administrator, who co-ordinates the co-ordinators and sets and monitors their budgets – a sort of a musical accountant.

Then there are the jobs in public relations. These people usually work for record labels. They promote the artists who have signed onto a record company’s label. There are quite a few levels of responsibility in this department.

An agent or an relations representative, is aperson who promotes his client and finds him or her work. They check the contracts and give business advice. They are well-|known as ‘Mr. Ten Percent’ although in practice it is usually double this unless you are famous.

Campus representatives advertise records to students and promotional staffers promote wherever they can – radio channels, shops, musical directors.

Music teachers teach music to groups from pre-school through to college level. Their responsibilities vary with the age of the student and the purpose of the class.

How To Get A College Cheerleading Scholarship

A major part of a good upbringing is a good education. Parents have diverse financial resources but they also have diverse ways of organizing their children’s education. Some parents are better at it than others. Likewise, not all children want to become doctors or dentists, no matter what their parents would choose for them and most of us thank God for that. Diversity is the spice of life, because luckily we are not all the same.

Funding for your child’s higher education is quite another thing. The costs of higher education never seem to fall , in spite of the fact that there is a depression and parents are being laid off. State funding is also in question. Therefore, there is a huge pressure on the subsidies that are available.

If you are short of the requisite amount of money to send your child to college or pay for it yourself, you will have to use your best gift to try to secure a grant from private industry. You alone know what you or your child is best at and the best thing to do is to exploit that talent in order to get a scholarship.

One of the kinds of scholarship that is often overlooked by the academically inclined is a cheerleading scholarship. If you can dance, if you are out-going and if you like showing off, you might get a cheerleading grant, even if you want to study pure or applied mathematics! Tangents off this variation are scholarships for gymnastics and track events.

There are four things to think about when seeking a cheerleading grant and they can all be construed to begin with the letter ‘W’, so that they are easy to remember.

Find out whether the fund that you are applying to has limitations on WHERE you can be educated. Will you be restricted to the USA? If you want to study English in London, that will be a problem

Find out WHEN the application has to be made by. In other words, what are the deadlines.

There is a lot to do if you want a ‘free education’ no matter which way you try to obtain it. Rehearsed Moves In Wrestling

Wrestling throws are tricky, as if you are not looking closely, you could believe that the throws are real. At the moment, I am still a little reluctant to fill you in on the throws, since I am not a wrestling fan, however my son is, and he is going to give us the inside information on wrestling moves to help us see it for what it is, fake.

One of the older moves is the banana splits. However, today, the move is known as the ‘leg splits’. During this move, one starts wrestling with both hands on the legs of the other wrestler and splits the legs apart as far as the legs will stretch. This move will force the wrestler to put his/her own shoulders to the mat. If the wrestling move were for real and the wrestler fails to submit, his/her legs would split some muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc.

The ‘Cobra Clutch’ is yet another of the holds that would in reality cause real agony. The cobra move is universally recognizable as the cross chokes or arm locks. The challenging wrestler comes from the back of the other pugilist and using a single arm in the “Nelson Hold”. The opponent then uses an arm to tug the wrestler’s arm, trying to stop him from drawing across the throat and choking him as a result. The ‘back clutch’ or ‘bombard’ is similar, but the challenging wrestler is on his back under his opponent extending his arms upward from underneath.

The ‘Rock Bottom’ moves entail the adversary drawing his opponents arm over his shoulder. The wrestler then places the opponents arm over his/her shoulder and lifts and dives forward onto the mat. During this attack, the challenger is hitting the mat head first, which if actually executed, would break some bones, or else cause some serious pain.

The ‘Choke Slam’ is the move when the attacking wrestler grips the opponent’s arm and lifts his arm close by his opponent’s side, over his shoulder. Then he lifts the opponent and throws him down onto the mat.

The ‘Big Boot’ is a running attack. The wrestler lifts up his boot, connecting with the head of his opponent. So, a boot in the face, in other words! This would definitely put a person on his/her rear any time, causing the kicked person to feel severe concussion for a while.

What makes wrestling so exciting is the shouting, the costumes, the characters and the moves. If you think of the movie Superman, and how he dresses, you will see that without his outfit he wouldn’t have any character appeal as Superman. Likewise, the wrestlers wear outfits that make them appear as though they are super heroes of the ring, punishing the baddies. Each wrestler has his/her role in the ring. It is usually quite peaceful, but made to look violent!

Wrestling has rules, as well as restrictions although the moves are phoney. Wrestlers must respect the ropes of the ring, as well as the colour codes in the ring. There are also styles of wrestling, which include the folk style, freestyle and Greco Romanian styles.

The styles have their own set of rules, however freestyle and folk style are similar. Usually, the styles are enacted so well that you wouldn’t know if the wrestlers are using the freestyle, folk style, or Greco style.

As with a script or a dance routine, most of the moves are choreographed, which means that a director is out of sight using his/her hands to direct the wrestlers in the rings. For the most part, wrestling is nothing more than an act with a few exemptions like when the KAYFABE is broken, when a real fight might break out. The KAYFABE is wrestling’s verbal communication.

Speed Reading – Where Do You Start?

Nobody actually knows when speed reading was first used, but it may well have been a long while ago. For centuries, reading was the privilege of a minority of the most highly-educated individuals in the world, the overwhelming majority of whom were monks and priests. This tiny, select group of men guarded their privilege and were loathe to instruct the general public to read. Moreover, throughout those hundreds of years there were relatively few books to read compared with nowadays. Books were also very expensive as they all had to be copied out by hand. Perhaps the only fact that has not altered is that the Bible was the most widespread book in existence and even now the Bible is the most prevalent book.

The world is quickly becoming a place where individuals are slowly but surely giving up on books and becoming fixed in front of monitors or television screens. In such a world, parents must not ignore the importance of developing a zeal for reading in themselves and their children. Reading is a habit that should be established when the child is fairly young, so what can you do to engender this habit?

Well, there are several strategies you can employ, although one of the best to lead by example. Read with your child every day, even if its only for 10-15 minutes. Allow your child to see you reading. By this I mean, don’t only read in bed before you go to sleep, but instead of watching television from time to time and read your children a bed-time story. Encourage them to read too. You could also:

Enroll your child for reading classes, if you honestly don’t have any time or your child is a bit slow at reading. There are many well-structured after school reading classes that aspire to make books more attractive to children. They help children with articulation, idioms and phrases. These lessons can be fun with cartoon characters and pictures, especially for young children,. They frequently use Illustrated books, nursery rhymes, silly songs and short stories to spark the imagination of younger children.

You will have to learn how to arouse your child’s interest. If your child has a favorite character, pick a series of books that include this character. Endeavor to encourage your children to read proper books not comics. The style in comics frequently leaves a great deal to be desired with its sloppy English and street slang. As an alternative, go for series of books like Harry Potter or Tarzan.

You should build yourself a library of your own books. This may sound a little impressive, but after all, a library is only a collection of books. Begin with a good-looking bookshelf that you can easily build on. Japanese vs. European Languages

Anime is a great cultural item that has made learning Japanese particularly inviting to many English speakers. It is also a big reason that many people in all parts of the world want to learn Japanese.

Japanese can be mastered and you can become proficient in it just like any other language, however, we must remember a few things if we want to truly be successful.
