Safeguard Your Computer With Antivirus Software

Computers run so much of our lives these days. They run our payroll, our bank account, our school and business records, our governments and, for many individuals, our entertainment, so anything that disrupts computers has the potential to completely screw up our lives in the short term.

This state of affairs is awful enough, but there are also people out there who get their thrills out of composing and releasing viruses to infect our computers and screw up our lives. I am not talking about criminals, we have always had to put up with them, I mean kids and others who write and release viruses to damage our computers for fun.

These days, a lot of families are dispersed because members have travelled to other cities to study or work and sometimes this means going to other countries too. Most of these people rely on computers and the Net to stay in touch. A infection could mean the disruption of these contacts and even the obliteration of family photo albums.

You might come to the conclusion that we rely on computers too much and lots of people would agree with you, especially those who have lost crucial information to computer viruses. At worst, you could have your identity stolen and have our financial life completely disrupted, but even losing your computer for a couple of days whilst it is repaired ‘in the shop’ is bad enough.

In my case, this would mean loss of income, for others it may mean a violation of privacy or even theft. So, what should we do to safeguard ourselves?

Antivirus software is the solution.

Antivirus software used to mean a program to scan files coming into your computer, but these days it means far more. Decent AV software will now include a firewall to protect your computer from being hacked and a malware scanner to stop incoming files from dropping trojans and worms etc onto your hard disk.

These small programs can read the keys that you press and send the information back to their creator. These key presses can be analyzed to disclose your preferences on search engines (in order to spam you) or your log in particulars to your bank (in order to steal from you).

So, you have to install either a good antivirus software suite, which will include all of the above or you could get the components individually. Not so long ago, you would have had to purchase all these things, but now some are built into Windows. Windows now comes with a firewall and antivirus software, which will also scan email.

This is powerful enough for most users, but if you want to take your computer’s safety to another level, you ought to add a dedicated malware scanner, of which there are loads of good free ones. If you consider that it takes too much time to run two or three separate programs and keep them up to date or if you would like a higher level of protection, you may consider purchasing an AV software suite.

There are lots of decent ones like Norton, Nod, Kaspersky and others which cost little more than $30 a year for absolute peace of mind.

The Benefits Of Off-site Data Storage

Everybody who utilizes a computer for any reason ought to take backups. Even if you just play games on your computer, you will like to keep a note of your highest score and your place in the game, but if you run a business with that computer, then backups are even more vital. They are absolutely crucial.

Data is an important tool in any business and it is necessary for an IT business – it is the earnings stream, the more vital your data is, the more you should cherish your data backups. Most individuals store their data backups on removable disks – thirty years ago it would have been on tape or 4.25 inch floppy disks; twenty years ago, it would have been on 2.5 inch disks and ten years ago until now on CD.

However, none of these media is completely safe. Data on these traditional media is prone to deterioration, a type of natural wastage. However, they can also be destroyed in a fire or by magnetic objects, get stolen or become lost. This is not actually an acceptable situation for a business that relies on its data.

So what is the solution? IT experts have been struggling with that question for fifty years. Off-site storage is one solution. This means that you should make at least two backups of your data at given points during the day, put one in your office safe and send one by courier to a safe storage depot owned either by yourself or by a data storage firm.

This is still the system that most companies use, if they back up their data on a ordinary basis at all. It is inexpensive and at least two times as safe as storing your backup data on the office premises. After all, it is extremely unlikely that two buildings will burn down or get robbed on the same day.

However, that still relies on the data being backed up correctly. For data to get securely backed up, it ought to get backed up and then verified. If you have much data this can become a lengthy process if you merely have one or two aging PC’s in the office. If this is a fact, people often skip verification or just back up in the right manner once a week.

I have been in both these situation. Fifteen years ago, I did not verify our company data and had three months of unusable rubbish, when our hard drive crashed, because I had not verified it and something was wrong with the back up program and ten years ago, I had a good backup, but it was a week old and had to pay my secretary a week’s overtime to re-input that week’s data.

Nowadays, I create all my backups by the book, but by a new course of action. I now use a cloud drive. This sounds fanciful, but what it means is that i send my data to another firm somewhere in the world automatically over the Internet every day. It happens in the background automatically. You merely set the program up, tell it what data to backup and off it goes.

This is the best form of data backup that I have ever discovered and it is cheap to free. A number of firms offer free storage up to a limited amount of bandwidth or data storage capacity. Merely type ‘cloud data storage’ into a search engine. Now all you have to worry about is what happens if the Net goes down.

How To Plan For Data Loss

If you earn your money by using a computer, you ought to protect yourself against all computer disasters. If you were a taxi driver, you would take out car and public liability insurance. If you were an employer, you might take out plant and tools insurance. If you were a landlord you would take out property insurance and loss of income insurance.

However, what do you do if you toil on line? Well, when you work with computers, data is your most precious resource, but you cannot insure against losing it because you cannot prove that you ever had it. So, what can you do? The answer is that you need to have reliable backups and several of them.

The problem is that computers do not really break down very often so we become lulled into the false feeling of security that we can make backups tomorrow instead of right now. However, the longer that you work with IT, the more you comprehend that there are no warning signs when you are about to lose all your data, which may be your entire earnings stream.

For instance, say you make websites for a living and update them frequently so that the search engines find them interesting. What would occur if your hard drive crashed or if they were destroyed by a virus? You might say that you would download them from your Net host and begin again, but that is not feasible, because most HTML editors will not decompile a completed website.

That would mean that you could never update those web sites again, so they would become less and less interesting to the search engines, so your ranking would fall and your earnings would plunge. And why? Because you failed to insure your business by taking adequate backups. You failed to make proviso for data recovery in the event of data loss.

However, no matter how often you backup your data on physical media, you will always be running a risk because anything physical, any item is prone to failure and deterioration. CD’s do not last as long as we were promised. I have lost tons of data that I thought was safe on CD’s and hard drives are prone to fail with no notice at all.

Even if you do overcome these issues of storage, what occurs if there is a fire or a thief really steals all your disks and computers? Your hardware would be insured but your livelihood, your data would be gone forever. All that hard effort. Your source of earnings. Gone. Forever.

There is a different alternative and that is not to hold your data on your computer, in your office or anywhere within a thousand miles of yourself. This is called cloud storage or cloud data storage. Microsoft calls it Sky Drive and offers 25 GB of free, password-protected, storage available from anywhere in the world. This kind of storage is the best in safe storage providing the best value recovery planning for computer data.

Free Malware Programs

Most people are conscious of the proliferation of viruses, bugs, trojans, worms, spyware and other malicious malware on the Internet, but millions of people, including experienced surfers get hit each day. How can that happen, you may ask.

It so happens that, sometimes, people forget to set automatic updates of the virus database, sometimes the antivirus software is not set up properly and sometimes it just gets switched off by accident or by software.

It is not extraordinary for automatic antivirus software updates to be switched off by accident or design. It has happened to me two times this year already. Luckily, Windows 7 warned me and I took notice of that admonition and, most importantly, I fixed the problem.

This is the most important point. If your computer warns you about something, particularly regarding security, do not put off doing something about it. In fact, drop what you are doing and fix the problem immediately.

If you leave you computer open to assault by malevolent software, you will suffer. It is no good imagining that you are safe because you do not do online banking or because you do not have sensitive information on your computer, because you have.

Your friends and colleagues entrusted you with their email addresses and names on the understanding that you safeguard their confidentiality.

A lot of malware just looks for the addresses in your email client software. Then it will harvest those details and spam your friends to distraction. Two of my friends let that happen this year and the only answer for both of them was to get a new email address and reformat their hard drive.

For instance, I was getting financial advice from my next door neighbour’s ten-year old kid. It was spam coming from Eastern Europe but it was prepared as if it came from him. He had been hacked and his address book had been copied to spammers. I had hundreds of junk email for months.

And do not think that you can merely create a filter to send it to the bin. You cannot, because they forge the email headers so that it seems to your anti spam software that every email comes from a new address, the result of which is that your spam filter does not recognise it as spam.

This is bad enough, but it can get a lot worse. Spyware can sit on your computer reading the keys that you press and transmitting the data back to the boss so that they can spam you on what you just typed.

Does that sound familiar? Today you send email to a friend saying that you are going to repaint and the next day you receive unsolicited email advertising on paint and wallpaper.

If all this sounds familiar, then you ought to take action. Type ‘free anti virus software’ into a search engine and set it up properly. If you have AV software already, check the settings. You need to enable automatic updates.

If you leave your computer always on that is all you have to do, but if you switch it off while not in use, set the updates to take place when you switch it on.

Two Different Methods Of Modern Affiliate Marketing

There are quite a few different forms of affiliate marketing. Some of them have become archaic and others have never been so well-liked. In this article we will be taking a look at some of the better forms of affiliate promoting.

One of the reasons for the continued popularity of affiliate marketing is that it is cheap to set up a website that could create money. Not only that, but it is possible to make a few dollars a day without much work and some people have to labour twelve hours a day at a difficult job for that much. The Net can double their wages on a set-and-forget basis.

Merchants are also keen on affiliate marketing because the means for implementing affiliate marketing are beneficial to the retailer, because the seller only has to pay a fee on every sale – there is no gratitude for fruitless hard work.

Having said that, there are ways for the affiliate advertising hopeful to make money, but it necessitates self-discipline. There is a tendency for affiliate marketers to pack as many selling tools – that is, banners – on to every page as possible in the hope that something will please someone.

This is, in fact, the worst tactic possible. A web page ought to be targeted. If the campaign is trying to sell goldfish, that should be the only advert on the page. When the page starts earning money, then you can add adverts for goldfish bowls and goldfish food, but not before.

And definitely do not strive to sell ‘pet food’ in the hope of acquiring at least one sale! There is time for all that later. In the beginning, focus is the watchword. Decide on your niche carefully and then have the courage of your convictions to stay with it.

Nowadays there are basically just two forms of affiliate marketing. They are PPC (pay-per-click) and PPP (pay-per-performance). PPC is very simple to set up and PPP a little more harder, but it can produce higher rewards per click.

PPC is Google’s favoured means of advertising, but there are several other firms that support PPC too. Google’s Adsense is the biggest network of PPC advertisers. It is very straightforward to set up because it is automatic.

If you want to earn money from PPC, you have to build a website that is heavy on content – that is, there are useful pieces on subjects that individuals would like to find out about. As the web master, you then insert a small piece of code which Google (or one of the other PPC merchants) gives you, and adverts will appear in that location.

Not any old adverts though. The software will scan the adjacent text for keywords and then match them up to keywords that advertisers have bought. The result is that a web site that has enabled PPC will have adverts that are relevant to its content and, hopefully, its visitors. If you have a website on tropical fish, then the adverts will be about tropical fish and accessories.

PPP or pay-per-performance is more difficult to set up merely because the web master has to go and find advertisers in the same niche; then apply for an account and then claim their rewards. Having said that, a web master can earn more for one PPP click than a whole days worth of PPC clicks.

PPP can include a number of kinds of actions – the ‘performance’ part though generally means a sale. Acquiring a sale is much more difficult than acquiring someone to check out an offer (PPC). Another benefit of PPP is that you can form a downline.

How To Earn Money Buying And Selling Used Cars Part 3

In the first section of this mini series on how to make money buying and selling used cars, we looked at what personal skills someone wanting to be profitable in this business would have to have. In the second part we looked at the best sites to locate such a business and in this section, we will look into acquiring our stock – our cars or trucks.

So, where can you get second-hand cars or trucks from? You will almost certainly get people coming in off the street trying to sell you their cars or trucks. That is frequently a good source of supply, if you carry out the necessary checks to make sure that they are not stolen, but this source will dry up from time to time – particularly in the summer.

Other places to obtain stock are private auction houses, bankruptcies, bereavements and government auctions, where cars or trucks are often quite heavily discounted.

At private auctions, anyone can bid for the lots that go under the hammer. Sometimes there is a minimum selling price, sometimes there is not, but the seller must pay to put his car in the auction anyway, which means that he has a vested interest in selling it to recoup this cost. If a car does not reach the minimum bid, try talking to the seller privately, you could pick up a genuine bargain.

If you are oblivious of local car auctions where you live, try looking in the local paper under “Up And Coming Events” or in the Yellow Pages under “Actions” or “Car Auctions” or go on line and make the same query including your locality.

Government auctions are fantastic sources to buy stock of any kind, including vehicles and machinery. These goods are usually either government surplus (new and used) or assets seized from the public. In The USA, it is best to register your interest in the auction catalogues of the two main governments auctioneers: the Department of Defense and the General Services Administration (GSA). Other countries have similar departments, which your local authorities can help you to get in touch with.

These government agencies auction off tens of thousands of vehicles or every conceivable description every year in the USA. Cars and other vehicles form a large slice of these auctions in monetary value – you would honestly find it hard to comprehend how many cars or trucks the government owns in the name of the people, from limos to lawnmowers. They all have to be replaced on a regular basis according to a schedule and the old ones are sold off.

The incredible fact that works so well in the business person’s favour, is that the government is more interested in clearing out their sheds of all this stuff to make room for more than it is in spinning a profit on it. All you have to do is register with the Department of Defense and the GSA and they will send you their auction catalogues automatically. This way you will have time to examine the goods before you bid.

The next part in this mini series will discuss how you can work out the value of the items that are being auctioned off.

How To Create The Right Office Environment

The office environment and the furniture in that office play a vital function in the productivity of that office. It also exerts a huge influence on the well-being of the office workers which will also have a big effect on productivity.

People need to be given the right tools if they are to be expected to do a job properly and in an office environment, the various pieces of furniture are some of the tools.

So, you, the boss, might think that you are saving money by purchasing cheap or second-hand tables and chairs, but that decision could cost you in lost productivity for the next ten or fifteen years. However, it is not only productivity that you could be losing, your furniture choices could also be affecting the health of your employees causing them to suffer aches and pains and even take sick leave. In the worst cases, you may even be taken to court.

Yet all you did was try to save a few dollars on a couple of chairs.

If you work for yourself, say, at home, this is equally if not more important, because if you are the only one in your firm and if you get sick, your firm stops trading, which could affect your kids’ schooling, your mortgage, your car payments and your future credit worthiness, if you do not have sufficient insurance.

Yet all you did was try to save a few dollars on a couple of chairs.

It is crucial to establish the correct working environment right from the outset. If you were a carpenter, you would not buy a rusty, secondhand saw and you would not buy yourself an old 386 computer to work at, so why not apply the same principles to the office furniture? Office furniture costs less than a new computer and will last at least three times longer.

So, which items of furniture will you require to equip an efficient office? Well, it is best to start with the chairs and work up, assuming that the floor is even and not slippery or wet. For the sake of ease we will just talk about you as the one employee using the office.

Whilst you sit on the chair, you should be able to put your feet flat on the floor and there ought to be a back rest. You can go more deeply into it, but they are the minimum requirements. This is why many office chairs are adaptable, because they have to be able to suit a assortment of individuals.

Then the table: it should clear your knees by at least six inches, but not be so high that you can not place your elbows on it without slouching. This will encourage correct posture, which will minimize the risk of backache or wrist pain. The desk or table should be big enough to hold all the items that you need to work on or with.

Therefore, you should consider the footprints of your desktop’s keyboard and monitor. Perhaps add space for a laptop for file-sharing, a paper notebook, a reference book, pen holder, mobile or other telephone, a coffee mug and whatever else you use to do your job. The desk should not look permanently cluttered up, even if you are a disorganized person.

It is a good idea to have a desk with draws to hold things that you use regularly. Some desks come with a small filing cabinet at one end and a set of drawers at the other. This is handy and can save space in a small, home office. Even if you get one of these desks, you might want a full-sized filing cabinet anyway. That depends on how much paperwork your business generates. A full height cabinet means less bending and you can put the coffee percolator on it.

Then you will require shelving. make certain that the shelving is installed at a height that is comfortable for the person who will use it most often and that there is enough of for predicted future use. Once you have your lovely new office set up and full of nice new equipment, you do not want to have to start drilling holes in the brickwork.

Which brings me to power points. Make sure that you have plenty of them. Have them all around the room. I like to have a double socket just to the left and just to the right of my desk just above desktop height as well – very useful for plugging the laptop into or the phone, or a lamp or a camera, if you need one.

Day Trading – Good Or Not?

In these days of extreme financial austerity and vicious cut-backs, people are naturally looking for methods of supplementing their earnings. It is hard enough for those who depended on overtime that no longer exists, but it is even more difficult on those who have lost their jobs. There are two main avenues that people are trying to investigate.

These are: setting up an off line business within their own sphere of expertise and attempting to make money on line. Within the ‘making money on line’ route, there are three main possibilities that individuals are turning to: affiliate marketing; the stock exchange and Forex (foreign exchange markets).

In this article, I would like to take a closer look at trading stocks and shares on line and in particular, day trading, which is the buying ang selling of stocks and shares within a twenty-four hour period or even within the same trading session. Some traders extend the period to mean a week, but to me ‘day trading’ represents a day.

Trading stocks and shares, let’s just cal it trading shares from now on, can be a profitable way of earning money, but as everyone knows, there is not actually any such thing as ‘easy money’. It is not the trading per se that is difficult – far from it, brokers have made it very simple for individuals to trade on line.

Input ‘trading shares’ into Google and you will get inundated with opportunities for trading on line at a few clicks of a mouse. There is little to choose between the brokers, so it is best if you can decide on one that operates in your country so that you understand the laws regulating it, unless you would like to trade in the shares of a country not normally covered by brokers in your country.

Once you have chosen your broker and funded your account the excitement, and the danger, begins. The risk of losing your money, that is.

You see, when just rich individuals traded shares, they normally paid a stock broker to do it for them. There still are such institutions – many of them, going under different names, like mutual funds and investment trusts and there are also stock brokers who have a select clientele, but we are not talking about those.

The majority of day trading is done either by top traders or by working class individuals. The professionals mostly work for huge companies like pension funds and the like with masses of information, whereas the majority of people who engage in day trading do so at their computers at home

Under normal conditions, people or companies, buy shares because they think that they can see a long term up-turn in that company’s or that sectors future. This takes knowledge – not insider-knowledge, but a deep understanding of what is going on in that company or that market. This is subject to error, of course, but if you are in for the medium term, say a year or more, things could change in your favour, if you have the time span a little wrong.

If you are day trading, you do not have the luxury of time.

As a child, I once bought 50 1946 English farthings, because a coin dealer told me that he would pay a pound each for them, if |only he could find some. I knew someone who had a hundred at forty pence. I day traded and made some money.

The purpose of the story is, how do you get that knowledge? Well, it is not easy. It takes dedication. It takes research and it takes effort otherwise it is just gambling and most gamblers lose.

Day trading is the hardest form of trading in shares and no real trader would recommend it to anyone. However, it can produce instant profits and of course, it can tie your money up, if you have taken a wrong decision and have to wait for the right time to sell.

Day trading is very risky and not for the faint of heart.

Is Your Home Office Furniture Hindering Or Helping You?

Do you work from home? Or do you surf the Internet or buy or sell on eBay? Do you send and receive email? Of course you do, because you are reading this piece. So let me ask you, how much attention do you pay to the equipment you use to perform these tasks?

You may make sure that you have the latest and fastest computer, you might make sure that you use the provider of the fastest broadband connection available in your district, but how much attention do you pay to your computer table and seat?

If you do not pay attention to these details too, you are surfing at top speed but you could be heading for a bad back and other physical issues at break-neck speed too. If you work for a firm, these details are taken care of for you, or should be and if your boss does not take care of your posture, then the company could be liable for damages. If you do not have a supervisor and work from home, it only makes sense that you take care of these particulars yourself.

If you take part in any of the activities mentioned in the first paragraph, you really should be taking an active interest in ergonomics, which is the study of the proper way to sit and how to use the correct equipment to help you to achieve the correct posture so that you do not subject your body to undue stress whilst you are working.

So, how do you go about procuring the right table or desk and the right chair for you to do your work safely? Well, it is probably easiest to start with the chair. The correct chair for you will permit you to place your feet flat on the floor with your thighs parallel to the floor. You should be able to achieve this position without balancing on the edge of your seat. If you need a foot stool to achieve this state, that is all right. The seat should have a back as well. Some say there should be arm rests too.

The table or desk should be of the height that will permit you to sit on your seat and put your elbows on the desk comfortably with a straight back. The height of the table should not encourage you to reach out or slump.

After you know how high your table and chair have to be, you can consider size. In general, the larger the table or desk the better. However, you know what you are like. Are you the type of person who clears the desk at the end of every day, or are you the sort that works until you cannot work any longer and likes to leave books and papers open for a quick start the next day?

If you are the latter type, then you require as large a desk as you can get, but you might just want a big desk because they are imposing. Whatever. It does not matter. A bigger desk is better anyway. The bigger the better, but it must be at the height that allows you to sit at it on a chair that suits the length of your calfs and the length of your abdomen.

Internet Advertising Secrets

You are reading this, so it is obvious that you already do some stuff on line, but how much do you use the Internet? Do you use it to its full potential? Do you only spend money on the Internet or do you make money on the Internet as well?

You may say that you have never spent a penny on line, but that would not be a fact, would it? You have a computer that you almost certainly use generally for going on line and you pay for a broadband connection.

If you find yourself only surfing to use up free time, why not set yourself the aim of using the Internet to pay for your monthly connection fees and your next (replacement) computer or a new laptop? That could be a project, a quest, a challenge, if you like.

If you have too much time on your hands this would be a decent excuse to extend your knowledge of computers, the Net and business or business on line as well.

If you already have a business, on or off line, you should be using the Internet to advertise it. If you are unfamiliar with the on line ways of marketing, we can stick with traditional off line ways that have been imitated on line.

For instance, there are thousands of free on line classified ad web sites. Only enter ‘free classified ads’ into Google and stand back!

However, classifieds are by and large perceived as not being as effective as their off line counterparts. This is because idiots spam these free ads web sites from all over the world merely for a free back link and so many of the ads are irrelevant or not local.

Another form of on line promoting imitated from the ‘real world’ is banner marketing. Business people can pay to have a banner placed on a relevant website in order to advertise their firms. It is equivalent to having a big ad in a newspaper. Regrettably, this form of advertising does not work on line as well as it does off line either. Experts say that surfers expect things for free on line, so their eyes ‘look through’ banner adverts.

So how can you promote your business on line? Well, believe it or not, it by using the very top, up-market off line advertising techniques of having recommendations, reviews and pieces written about the items that you are advertising. This would cost thousands or more in a newspaper, but it is virtually free on line.

The number one best manner of promoting on line is to compose articles on or about the topic of your products or company and posting them to article directories with your URL in the byline. This will give you a back link which Google regards very highly in working out your company’s ranking in their search engine.

How To Earn Money Buying And Selling Used Cars Part 2

In the first section of this mini-series on how to make money buying and selling used cars in the current financial conditions, we looked at what kind of individual is suitable to set up a used car business. In this section, we will look at where to actually establish your used car business.

So, how do you go about setting up your own used car business? The first thing to comprehend is that no matter whether you are establishing a part-time or full-time business, your customers and the government will expect you to conduct yourself and conduct your business in a professional manner and they have every right to do so.

If you do not conduct yourself appropriately, you will present a bad impression to your customers and get a bad name with them and you will get a bad standing with the taxation authorities and maybe the health and safety people too and be beleaguered by them with more that the average number of check-ups.

Decide what your most important market is. Do you want to specialize in used luxurious cars, middle-market or cheap vehicles? Or do you want to sell trucks, vans, buses or motorbikes? It is helpful to specialize, if your catchment area is big enough. For instance, if you live in a village miles from anywhere, it might not be worth specializing in second-hand buses, but second-hand farm gear could be a hit.

Pay a lot of attention to the site of your business. If you propose to sell one or two cars from adverts, this is not quite so important, but if you have thoughts for the future, you might want to get a small lot that you can expand on later.

This plot should be in a highly noticeable location, say alongside the highway that runs into town. If your site is less than ideal, you will have to spend a great deal more on advertising, which is something to keep in mind, when trying to work out what you can afford to pay for the plot.

Another important issue to keep in mind before agreeing to any contracts, leases or mortgages, is to find out whether you are permitted to open a used car business in that location. Some countries have a highly complex set of rules and regulations governing which kinds of business can be situated where. This is often called ‘zoning’. Sometimes you can get a ‘zoning variance’, but not every time.

Once you have your site and have chosen what type of used vehicles you want to specialize in, you should concentrate on establishing a unique corporate image – one that is instantly recognizable to local people as denoting your business. Use a motto, an emblem or a motif or a permutation of these, put up a sign and sign-write your van or tow-truck with them as well.

In the following part of this mini series, we will be examining how to locate your stock in trade – your vehicles.

Coping With The Stress Of An Online Home Business

Are you thinking of making some extra money on the internet? You definitely would not be the only one. Millions of individuals are turning to the Internet to discover ways of making an extra income from the comfort of their own homes and some are even hoping to be able to give up their day jobs and work online full-time.

There is no place like the Internet. No country can offer the same entry to a global market for such little cost as the Internet. Being online, can cost less than a dollar an hour and for that dollar you can have access to hundreds of millions of people through their computers.. That is access to several tens of millions of people per cent of outlay.

That makes an Internet-based business the most cost-effective in the world and it permits you to operate from a laptop or cyber cafe anywhere in the world. The one thing that working online cannot do for you though is prevent the stress that builds up from owning any business. Therefore, how can you reduce the stresses of running an online business? I do not mean financial stress or delivery problems, they are common to all business models.

Changes occur very quickly on the Internet. A new style or method of doing things can happen within a week or even less, whereas it may take months or even years in a land-based company. This means that you have to devote some time every week to keeping up with ‘current affairs’.

The easiest way of doing this is to subscribe to a few forums. Join say two forums that are relevant to the industry that you are in and one general ‘techie’ forum. That way, you will always be aware of the latest developments and cannot be caught sleeping.

The Internet can be fairly flakey, when you think about it. You might spend years constructing a couple of hundred websites, but if you host goes down, so do you, unless you are ready. In 2009, that happened to me twice, so it is not that unusual. It is very easy for someone to set himself up as a web space reseller, but if he stops paying his bills, he can take hundreds of website owners off line with him and you may not even know it for a few days.

There are a few precautions that you should take to dissolve the stress of going out of online business over night through no fault of your own.

Take regular, very regular backups and do not put all your backups on the same medium. I backup everything every time I alter anything. One day the backup goes to a CD and the next day it goes to a portable hard drive. If I had a large enough flash drive the third day would go there. That way, you can never lose more than two day’s work, and believe me, that is nauseating enough.

Sign all your websites up to a ‘pinging’ service. These services check to see whether your web site is on or off line several times a day robotically and tell you if they are down. You can get this free, but otherwise it costs just pennies per site per month.

Have a second host ready. You can get a year’s hosting for a $60 or a few dollars a month. Have your account open and ready and you could even load your websites on to it, so that if disaster strikes, you only have to change the name servers and you are away again.

Selecting And Preparing Cloth For Quilting

A large part of the pleasure of quilting is gathering the materials that you will use. There are two methods: you can either choose the pattern first or the fabric first or if you are an experienced quilter, you can ignore the suggestions on the pattern and use whatever fabric you please. However, this is a big step that the novice should not take lightly

Most quilters will opt for cotton, 100% cotton, because it is the easiest cloth to use, is pleasant to deal with, is washable and is readily available in different patterns and weights.

In fact, you cannot go wrong with cotton, whereas most people do not want anything to do with man-made fabrics and silk and satin are both a problem to use and expensive.

When you go into a quilting or craft shop, you will see bolts and bolts (rolls and rolls) of 100% cotton fabric, so choice will rarely be a difficulty. In the beginning, a tip is to use tightly woven fabric, because loosely-woven fabric can ‘pull’ and distort leaving unsightly ‘holes’, which you cannot mend because they are not breaks.

You will have to put a great deal of effort into your quilt so it is worth spending some time on planning your quilt and the pattern and the design that you would like. The colour is especially important because you or your customer will have to live with it for many years.

Strive to use contrast as much as you can, but that is outside the range of this article, so you will have to look it up if you do not understand it already. However, in essence it involves using warm colours like red, yellow, orange and brown with cooler colours like blue, green and violet. You can contrast black with white very effectively as well.

You could also attempt contrasting different textures. Smooth, coarse, high grain and low grain, high density and low density cottons can be mixed to dazzling effect with a bit of consideration and practice. The same can be said of the pattern on the cloth. Therefore, you can alternate or mix colour, grain and pattern.

When you get brave enough, you can add other types of cloth too such as velvet or taffeta. Whichever textiles you decide to use, you must test them for shrinkage.

Take a swatch, measure it, wash it as it must be washed, dry it out, iron it and then measure it again. This will tell you how much that cloth shrinks, so you can write that down in a notebook.

Pre-shrink all fabrics that are going to shrink before sewing blocks of themt into our quilt or you will have big problems later. When you have washed and dried the block of fabric, it must be ironed.

If you make a decision to use a fabric that needs dry cleaning, you will have to make certain that anybody who buys it from you knows this. It would be a sensible idea to embroider a label saying as much and attaching it to the quilt so that neither you nor anyone else will forget.

The Best Way To Clean Glass

There is something very gratifying about having cleaned dirty glass. Glass is most frequently used as a window onto the world. The glass is a lens and as such should be clean.

Everyone who wears glasses will understand this principal. Dirty spectacles are annoying and have to be cleaned instantly. This is also the case for a car’s windscreen.

However, glass has some other uses besides being a lens. Glass is used to allow natural light to enter; stained glass is used to create a picture; toughened glass is used for table tops and glass is used to make ornaments and drinking vessels.

The thing is though that because glass always has some type of interaction with light, we like to see it clean and it angers us when we see dirty glass. Dirty glass is a sign of neglect, a sad sign that no-one cares about it.

So, a relevant question is: how do you clean glass? We probably all think that we know the answer to this question and we probably all can and do clean glass, but which are the best ways to clean glass?

There are dozens of spays and chemical solutions on the market and you probably have your specific favourite under the sink right now, but there are also traditional mixes that can be made from ingredients located in most well-stocked kitchens.

However, before moving on to the liquid to use, we will talk about the equipment for applying the cleaner. We will talk about windows as they are by far the biggest glass objects that most people have to clean.

Mix your liquid in a bucket and then transfer it to a spray bottle, if you like. One note on safety here: never take a bucket up a ladder, it can topple you over. Some people prefer to spray the liquid cleaner on and then scrape it off with a squeegee – a rubber blade like a car’s windscreen wipers, others prefer more traditional techniques.

Before the squeegee, all professional window cleaners, myself included, used a square of scrim, which is like sacking. I used a square of scrim which was approximately 18 inches square, but the size you use should make a comfortable ball in your hand. I used this to rub on the solution, and I used a large cotton rag to wipe it off. This is an excellent combination which creates excellent results.

Other people swear by newspaper, but I have never seen a professional doing his rounds with a bundle of newspapers. Having said that, my wife and our neighbours all use newspapers to clean the windows and the results are just as good.

There are certain weather conditions that you ought to avoid when planning cleaning windows and they are rain and hot, direct sunlight. You can still clean windows in the rain, after all you will still be removing the grime, but people do not like it. They seem to think that you have ‘got away with something’, somehow done less of a job and to be honest, it is harder to tell, if you have done a good job and drying off is well-nigh impossible.

In hot direct sunlight, the liquid will dry off too rapidly, so in effect you are merely moving the dirt around and hoping that most of it will stick to the scrim. Therefore, the morning and the evening are the best periods to clean glass.

We used to use a dash of plain washing up liquid and a cup of methylated spirits in a bucket of water to clean windows and it worked a treat for all the windows or two or three houses before it needed changing, but other people have different suggestions, some of which I have listed below.

Vinegar and water mixed at a ratio of 4:1 and rubbed on with newspaper. Dry off with newspaper as well.

Ammonia, washing-up liquid and water applied with newspaper (wear rubber gloves).

Equal parts of methylated spirits, paraffin oil and water applied and dried off with cloths.

Ideas On Advertising Your Memory Foam Mattress Business

The memory foam mattress has scarcely had a meteoric rise in popularity historically. Memory foam itself was invented in 1966 by an off-shoot of NASA and it was first turned into commercial items in the Seventies.

The first use it was put to was mattresses, pillows, cushions and chair padding, although the only item that was available to the general public back then was the memory foam orthopaedic mattress.

However, it was so costly that just institutions such as hospitals could afford them. Now, forty years later, memory foam is a great deal cheaper and memory foam mattresses can be bought by anybody who wants one for a few hundred dollars.

Memory foam mattresses are very popular and their popularity is increasing every day, which opens up the chance to sell these space age mattresses. This could be a very opportune time to begin a memory foam mattress business, especially if you have lost your job in the recession or think that you are in danger of losing it.

There is absolutely no doubt that the public is interested in memory foam products, but they are especially interested in memory foam mattresses, toppers, cushions, pillows and pads. If you accept that this is true then the next step is to advertise your business, assuming that you do not want to carry stock and that you will have the items drop-shipped by a supplier straight from their warehouse.

The important points of memory foam goods are: it reduces pressure on the joints, back and skin because it increases the surface area of your body that it supports and that it is air-conditioned – that is it conforms to the background temperature of the room it is used in more closely than other mattresses because of its cell structure.

Hopefully, you can get these particulars from your supplier so that you can compose successful adverts, classifieds or commercials for the memory foam products that you would like to sell. It is important to get sight of the manufacturer’s specifications and advertising, before you write your own adverts.

Read, study, learn and inwardly digest this information from the manufacturers before you do anything else, so that you can speak and write knowledgeably on it. Purchase a mattress or topper claiming your discount so that you have first-hand familiarity with memory foam.

Memory foam is still new or unknown to many people, so you could provide the local press with a 300-500 word article for inclusion in their paper, if they forward all enquiries to you.

You could also compose a press release about your new business. You could have 10,000 B4 fliers printed and pay the newspaper deliverer to include one flier in each newspaper.

Get yourself some business cards and hand them out at every occasion. No more passing on your phone number on a bit of paper and leave one on every pub or restaurant table you sit at. Leave one as a book-marker in each library book you read.

Classified ads can be a good source of inquiries, but you will need a campaign of seven or eight weeks to get good results

Produce a web site for your product and advertise the web site rather that the product over the web and do not forget to include your web site address on your business card and fliers.

How To Choose The Right Office Furniture

|When people are thinking about procuring office furniture they fall into two groups. There are the inexperienced who think that they have to go for functionality and there are the ones that have been through that and opt for comfort and style.

It is not that these two ideas are mutually exclusive, but most buyers of office furniture instinctively think that they are. The fact is, that when a client walks into an office, first impressions matter. No matter which business you are in this is a fact. However, office furniture ought to be appropriate to the station of the firm using it.

It is just as ridiculous to go over the top as it is to be stoic. This is not only important to clients and visitors (potential clients), but it is also vital to the self esteem of the people who work for them – the office staff require to feel appreciated and the people working for the company but outside the office have a need to feel proud of the firm they work for as well.

Therefore, it is crucial to get the right office furniture in order to create the right image for your company and it is essential to get the right office furniture to create self-respect in your employees. But there is another aspect to why you ought to get the right office furniture and that is because the right office furniture will increase the efficiency of your office.

Everybody will instantly realize that efficiency is the objective of every office. Efficiency means that the office can either reduce charges to the clients, which will obviously please them or the office can keep prices up to the industry benchmark level and increase profits for the owners. This is an important managerial decision the role in which the correct office furniture ought not to be underestimated.

So, how do you go about achieving this ideal office environment? Well, astonishingly for most people, the starting point should be the office chair. It needs to be ergonomic, which is another topic that I and many others have written about before. It is too much to go into here, just do a search.

When you have the worker seated correctly, the table should be at a height that is at least six inches above the knees. Most office employees like to have a hardwood table for prestige and this can be accomplished fairly easily even on a budget with a veneered table.

A decent alternative is a glass table. However, the glass table should be ‘smoked’ or tinted and definitely manufactured from toughened glass. The tint is good for modesty and because it looks more stylish and toughened for safety.

The table ought to be as big as feasible both for reasons of prestige and because a cluttered desk is maddening to work at. It is important to allow an office worker enough space to do the job well that they are there to do, which also affects their self-esteem and job-satisfaction. Raising employees’ job satisfaction, which does not only include pay, is one of the best ways of raising office productivity.

How To Make Money Buying And Selling Used Cars Part 4

In the first part of this short series on how to make money buying and selling used cars, we looked at what personal skills someone wishing to be profitable in this business would have to have. In the second section we looked at the best sites to locate such a business; in the third we looked at acquiring our stock – our cars or trucks and in this section, we will look at valuing that stock.

Whether you obtain your cars or trucks from auctions or from private individuals, you will have to be able to work out their value accurately, so, how do you determine the value of used vehicles? The simplest way to know a vehicle’s typical market, trade-in or wholesale value is to subscribe to a car dealers’ used car guide. Most western countries have one, but in the USA the most used one is called the National Automobile Dealers’ Used Car Guide or N.A.D.A.

NADA not only publishes monthly guides to second-hand cars, it also publishes monthly guides on older or classic cars, smaller boats, larger boats, SUV’s, mobile homes, RV’s, snow mobiles and motorcycles. Look them up on the Internet and sign up to their subscription list for the kinds of vehicles that you are interested in.

These used vehicle guides normally include foreign or imported cars nd trucks as well and are a consensus of sales and auctions over the whole country, therefore a little local knowledge is indispensable as well as your area may function at slightly above or slightly below the national norm, which could present you with additional opportunities for (wholesale) sales by shipping cars into or out of your region.

Sometimes or in some regions, a permit is required to run a used car business. This is nothing more than tax by another title usually, so simply requires you to pay a fee. In other regions, it may be a means of weeding out unscrupulous traders and may require an examination of same kind, so it is worth checking your district’s requirements before you start trading.

Some regions have laxer laws than others on buying and selling used cars, permitting ‘occasional sales’. ‘Occasional sales of motor cars or trucks’ is normally intended to be no more than five sales in a twelve month period.

When you are starting out you can make use of this allowance, if your district allows it, to keep your expenses down to a minimum in the costly early days of establishing your business, but once you see yourself passing this maximum quantity you should submit an application for a license straight away to avoid incurring any penalties. These penalties can be severe ranging from a fine to disbarment from trading, so be warned.

You will also need to learn how to collect taxes from your sales and your salary to yourself and to your employees. You will also need to learn how to hand these monies over to the right authorities on time, although your accountant or book-keeper can help you there.

Coping With Your Daily Stress

We all know that stress is at a very high level for the vast majority of people and most of us have our own methods of dealing with this stress. However, for those who do not know how to cope with stress, it is probably first useful to appreciate what stress is and how it can manifest itself.

Stress is most simply defined as: “A mentally or emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition occurring in response to adverse external influences and capable of affecting physical health, usually characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability, and depression” (TheFreeDictionary.com).

There are many reasons why stress can come about, but the most common forms of stress come from finances, family, work, school, quarrels with friends and driving. The most stressful situations, however, are divorce, the death of a parent or spouse, moving house and changing job or school.

Since the causes of stress are so varied, it is helpful to be able to ascertain where your stress is coming from, so that you know how to treat or prevent it. You need to get to know yourself to cope with your stress, because not all people respond in the same way to stress.

For instance, actors and top-flight business people often say that they need the buzz of stress to give their best performances. They have clearly learned how to harness stress to their own advantage whether unconsciously or by other methods. People who suffer from stress need to get to that phase.

When you have worked out what is causing your stress, you have a prospect of dealing with it. In fact, you have many chances of dealing with it. If the source of the stress is your employment, you may like to go for a drink with colleagues after work to talk things through once or twice a week, so long as you do not let it get out of hand and impinge on your family and your work.

Otherwise, you may go for a massage or a sauna or take regular weekend getaways either for pure relaxation or to follow a specific hobby such as hiking. In fact, a hobby of some kind is generally a good stress-reliever, even if the pastime itself is stressful. Just changing the routine appears to assist a lot of people. Some people turn to shopping and beauty salons.

A weekend picnic, communing with nature, or rambling are other key de-stressers. The point is that you have to find something that is perfect for you. For instance, I work alone all day and detest shopping, so when I have done my bit, I seek out company to have a chat. My wife on the other hand spends all day with people, and likes to hose the garden alone at the end of her working day.

Other major stress relievers are sports – either watching them or playing them. Playing is clearly healthier than watching, but given that stress is a major killer in the West, the reduction of stress is the main concern. Yoga and meditation are a fantastic compromise between being active and passive in your coping with stress.

Owen Jones, the author of this piece, writes on many subjects , but is currently concerned with the stress headache. If you are suffering from any kind of stress, please go over to our website now at Stress and Heart Disease

Human Monitored Home And Business Alarms

Many Americans are just starting to realize that advanced security measures are not only for the very rich. You just cannot get too much security for yourself and your family or your employees. The problems in society are getting worse too, not better. The current recession is hitting hard and splitting society even more into the have and have-nots, the working and the not-working.

However, these days burglars do not seek out the very wealthy, because they have all the protection that money can buy. The people most likely to be robbed and burgled are the working middle classes. They get robbed when they are at work and the kids are at school or when they are sleeping in their beds.

This is why it is essential to have the best automated security you can afford taking care of your home and family twenty-four hours a day. But it is not only your home, your business and workers deserve security as well. How many gun-toting lunatics have shot their colleagues dead in the last few years?

Not many firms can afford security personnel but you could get the next best thing, which is electronically monitored surveillance. There are various types of system available and most are flexible enough to be adaptable to any building. You could then monitor the system yourself during working hours by having a screen in the office or your home and send the signal to a security firm at other times of the day, at weekends and at night.

If you adopt this kind of system, you will be placing your home or office in the top echelon of secured properties and professional burglars will realize it and stay away from you and yours. Most people resent the monitoring fees, but the system falls down, if no-one is watching the image relayed by the cameras. You could try to reduce this cost by monitoring the images yourself for part of the day and relaying the image to professionals when you are unavailable. You could also ask your insurance company for a discount and ask your accountant to put the expense down against your taxes.

The good thing about a monitored system is that you know that help is at hand twenty-four hours every day. You may be living alone or prone to fits or a heart attack. You could get almost instant help in these instances by pressing the panic alarm. These panic buttons can be placed at the front and back door, in every room in the house or you could have a radio button on a necklace around your neck. These systems are quite common and are used by many care centres for the elderly or the infirm.

You will probably have to do some arithmetic to work out whether you need or can afford a monitored home security system, but there is no doubt that it is the most secure system available. However, not all home security monitoring companies are the same, so it is worth checking up with friends or with the companies’ governing body or even the local council to see if they have a good reputation.

The Importance Of Home Security

People have always tried to protect themselves and their families, just like most animals do. In very early days, cavemen protected their caves by setting fires outside the opening to discourage interlopers and wild animals. Later on, man learned how to augment his security by training dogs to safeguard him and his family. Later still, houses and then doors were invented; bars and locks arrived soon after that.

However, until a few decades ago in the west, people lived in extended large families. A family could consist of six-to-ten children and the mother and the grandmother would often live there too. This made home security systems extraneous from the early 18th Century to the 1930′s, which were fairly peaceful times. After the Second World War, families were not so large and new families got their own house away from their parents.

Nowadays, both parents are likely to be working and the children are almost certainly at school. This means that many houses are left unoccupied during the day, making them easy plunder for burglars. In fact, the number of household burglaries has risen by almost 10% in the last five years according to American government figures. Furthermore, according to a survey, forty percent of home burglaries were carried out due to inappropriate locks and doors.

ANSI (American National Standard Institute) produced a standard for deadbolt locks for exterior doors which is very difficult to beat. If you are worried about your exterior doors, you should seek these ANSI deadbolts out, but be careful, there are many copies. However, regardless of the kind of lock, the quality of the door is just as crucial. Its thickness and composition can also be a deterrent. After all, why put an expensive deadbolt on a door made of cardboard?

There are about 14,000,000 home burglaries every year in the United States and many of them are preventable. The first stage that you should achieve in home security is well-built doors and sturdy locks. Deadbolts on exit doors is a good idea.

Once you have completed that, get some exterior security lighting that reacts to either motion or body heat. The former type are microwave and the latter passive infra red sensors. These sensors will also contain a daylight sensor so that they will only become active at night. The sensors will also save you money by activating the powerful halogen floodlights only when someone enters the scope of the sensor’s beam.

Once you have done that, you ought to think about a home security alarm system. This should include contact sensors on all exterior doors and windows, vibration sensors on all widows to alarm you in case of breakage and PIR or microwave motion sensors in the corridors and hallways.

Then, if you want to go even further in your home security system, you can fit surveillance cameras on each exterior wall of the house and maybe one in the interior too. You do not have to take all these precautionary measures at once, if you are short of cash, but they should be taken in that sequence.

The Best Home Based Business For You?

These days, many people are looking for a way to make money from home. When it comes to home based business ideas, you’ve probably heard it all from working online to becoming an overnight millionaire with a complicated MLM scheme. All the hype is enough to send you right back to the grind of looking for a job in the “real world”.

If you’d really like to start a home based business, you’ll be relieved to learn that there are some incredibly simple and very rewarding opportunities. One such opportunity is plant propagation. With this, you don’t have to sell out your family members and close friends to make it work. You also don’t have to spend a small fortune on website development and advertising to get started.

You can learn to propagate and sell plants from your own home. Don’t let the complicated sounding term “propagation” scare you off. This simply means you know how to root plants from seeds or cuttings to resell.

Anyone can do this! If you don’t know how right now, the right resource could teach you in just one afternoon.

Many people go into the business of plant propagation as a family venture. They are able to teach their children some valuable lessons about work and money when they get them involved. Children enjoy participating because they like to make things grow.

Some people take this on as a solo venture to help make ends meet or for some extra spending money. The great thing about a plant propagation home based business is that you can earn as much or as little as you want. Your income is dictated by the number of plants you propagate and the amount of time you spend selling them.

Getting Started

In order to get started in the business of growing plants for resale, you just need some good cuttings from plants or some seeds and a small piece of land. You have to know how to take the cuttings and start the seeds, but this basic information is readily available online and in some convenient propagation guides.

People are usually very surprised when they learn how little land they actually need to get started in this home based business. You can use a corner of your yard or even a few large pots to start a plant propagation business from your home.

You may choose to take your home based business to the Internet and sell to a very large market. However, you will have to either set up auctions or a website to sell your plants. You may have to spend some time and money on advertising and be ready to ship any plants that are sold.

Even though your expenses will be considerably higher when you operate a plant propagation business online, the profits can be considerably higher, especially in your plants are in demand.

The trick to ensuring your plants will be purchased by others is to stick with basic flowers, trees, and bushes that you know are widely used by homeowners and landscapers. Look around your residential area and see what others are growing in their yards. Look through local nurseries and make sure you beat their prices.

How To Make it Work

For a home based business like this to work, you have to pour your heart and soul into it and produce healthy, disease and pest free plants. Price them competitively and you’ll have them flying off the shelves

How To Draw Buying Customers To Your Products.

If you are into marketing on the Internet, you will be marketing a website of one kind or another. Maybe you own the URL of that web site or youre promoting a generic link which contains your affiliate code.

Whichever scheme you operate, the problem is the same: how to get enough interested visitors to you website, so that, if they are interested in your product, you have a chance to sell it to them, if they can afford it, before they become so distracted that they click away.

This is the largest common problem that every single Internet marketer has, and it is called attracting targeted traffic, getting relevant visitors or something similar. All the phrases come to the same thing ultimately. If no one sees your product they cannot buy it or if your visitors are mainly young people interested in tennis, it is no good trying to sell them bird cages.

So, you obviously need as many visitors to your website, who are interested in your product, as you can handle. This means that you need to be highly ranked in the search engines in order that people can find your website. The most popular and most often-used search engine is Google. So, what is the best way get your site ranked highly in Google?

There are several thousand books on the subject, but practically without exception the serious ones come to the same conclusion, unless they were written by self-interested safe-list or traffic exchange owners. And that conclusion is that you need lots and lots of links to your site.

Very few people will honestly admit to knowing how Google ranks sites, but most people agree that the more sites linking to your site the better. This has lead some webmasters to try exchanging links with each other. It sounds an easy way to get links but Google can recognize reciprocal links. The best links are one-way links, because it demonstrates that someone values your site enough to want to be associated with it. These are called back links.

So, the real problem comes down to how to get enough back links to your site to persuade Google (and the other search engines) that you run such an important site that they should rank it highly for your chosen keywords, which should be relevant to the content of your website. How do you do that?

There are many strategies you can employ such as traffic exchanges, safelists, FFAs, forums and writing articles, but to be blunt, the first three of these are a total waste of time. I used to own a safelist and have wasted thousands of hours on traffic exchanges, all for nothing. Posting to forums can be worthwhile, but then ONLY if the link on your post is a follow link. If it is not, it doesnt do any good and most are no follow links. This means that you have to do some research to find the forums where it is worth you posting to (more on this later). That leaves writing articles as the ONLY sure way to get rock-solid back-links to your site based on relevant keywords.

So, you write an article on a subject relevant to your site stuffed (but not over-stuffed) with relevant keywords and then what? Thats easy! You search Google for article directories and blogs, sign up to a couple of dozen and post your article to them.

And that is the way to get the sort of links to get your site highly ranked, so that people can find you and have a chance to buy what you are selling. The only catch is that Google will expect to see new links appearing on the Internet on a regular basis, which means writing and posting time after time after time after time ad infinitum. Or does it?

Yes, it does, unfortunately. But the process can be automated and automation is the key to online marketing success. Set up a proven, successful process and let it run ” day and night: all day and all night! I use a system that helps turn an article into thousands of variations and posts them to thousands of search engines, directories, lists and websites, creating literally thousands of back-links!

But don’t think that these variations are just spun! (The industry standard way of creating article variations is to use spinning software to substitute synonyms and pseudo-synonyms eg crimson for scarlet in a random way. This works to a certain degree but can produce pure gibberish too sometimes – who would recognize Crimson O’Hara?). The system I use does not employ this method, but still produces thousands or variants all written by human hand. Then it sends them out to article directories and blogs etc.. Thousands of them. In fact today, there are over 11,000 sites on their list and the list is kept fresh on a monthly basis. Most similar lists are not well maintained because it is so time-consuming to do. Therefore, many contain lots of dead, useless links.

This system takes your article, creates thousands of variations and then posts them to thousands of sites. All with your sites link in the by-line, which can also be varied. But not only that! It only posts your article to lists and categories that deal with sites like yours (based on your chosen keywords) and posts according to a schedule chosen by you: ie 10, 20, 50, 100, 1,000 posts a day, starting on any future date you choose! So, for example, you could write three articles and have the first one go out starting the next day at 150 a day; the second one starting after seven days at 150 sites a day; and the third starting after two weeks at a rate of 75 sites a day.

That would give your site at least 3,000 links in a month or 100 a day ” all for 2-3 hours work! If you wrote one article a day (an hours work) and it got posted to only 1,000 relevant sites, you would have 30,000 relevant links in a month. And that does not include the bloggers, ezine publishers and webmasters who paste your article into their publication with your link. You could easily end up with 40-50k links. But it doesnt even stop there, because the article will be live for years and years, quietly beavering away at getting you noticed by the search engines and the people searching them. How many sales could that get you?

If you want to see an example of this systems output, you have just read one ” this article and if you would like to find out more, follow the link in my by-line attached to it.

How To Go About Buying A Computer

As with everything else, buying a computer is straightforward if you know what you are doing. For those who do not know though, it can be a complete nightmare. People who have had a computer before have a good idea about what they need and what they would like, but for those who have never used a computer before, all the components that make up a computer can appear confusing.

The obvious answer is to buy the best that you can manage, but this still might puzzle some people, because the best is not always the most expensive. In the computer world, ‘the best’ usually means the biggest and the fastest.

Just to make it more perplexing, ‘the biggest’ here does not always mean in size, but in capacity. The only large size that is important is the monitor. This is a quick rundown of how to purchase a computer and its components:

Before you buy a computer, think about why you want one. If it is for educational purposes: that is surfing the web and looking up content, you do not need more than a basic desktop computer. If you are constantly on the move, then you might need a laptop, or maybe cyber cafes will suffice.

This kind of machine is also sufficient for writing letters and emails and almost any kind office work. Top flight computers are only required by games players and show-offs.

Buy a complete computer. That means buying a kit of: CPU (the ‘computer’), monitor (screen), keyboard, mouse, speakers and printer. This way you will just have to plug everything in and off you go – you can be sure that they are all well-matched.

When you purchase your next computer, you can buy all the components independently to get even better value for money or a system more precisely tailored to your preferences.

Go for the largest screen, the fastest memory and fastest hard drive and the biggest memory (RAM) and biggest hard drive (gigabytes) that you can afford. You do not need a great deal of ‘space’ for normal office work or normal surfing, but if you get into downloading music or films, then memory soon gets eaten up, although you could always add a new external (plug-in) hard drive later, in need be.

Make sure that you purchase a computer that is not too old, if you go second-hand. This is because you can up-grade computers for two or three years, but after that manufacturers change the casings and new components will no longer fit – planned obsolescence, it is known as.

Get your computer from a well-known, reliable local store and make sure that it has a good guarantee. Computers do not often go wrong, but you do not want to have to send it half-way across the country and wait three weeks for it to come back. If you are in business, get two. Perhaps a laptop and a desktop and synchronize the contents of both so that you always have your information.

Following these guidelines will guarantee that the computer beginner gets ‘enough’ of a deal and an adequate machine that is fit for purpose without paying through the nose.

If you are looking for new full tower computer cases, or any other type of computer cae, just go over to our website now at Clear Computer Case for more information.

What Would You Give To Be Number1 In The Search Engines?

I was wondering whether you had realized just how much article submission software has improved over recent years? For instance, this article has been written and submitted to thousands of directories, lists and blogs on auto-pilot over a period of a month by the world’s best article management software.

Please don’t miss out on this, it is that important if you need to promote any site on the Internet.

Put simply, there is just simply no other traffic generation system that works better, costs less, and is completely immune to search engine changes.

Do not forget, this is not some fancy new black-hat technique. It is completely legitimate, completely solid, and completely reliable. This system will take your article, create thousands of variations and then post them to thousands of sites. All with your sites link in the by-line. But not only that! It only posts your article to sites that want sites like yours (based on your chosen keywords) and posts according to a schedule chosen by you: ie 10, 20, 50, 100, 1,000 posts a day, starting on any future date you choose! So you could write say, three articles and have the first one go out starting the next day at 300 a day; the second one starting after seven days at 100 sites a day; and the third starting after two weeks at a rate of 50 sites a day.

What really is new is that this already well-established method of promotion has now been put on steroids. It combines, for the very first time ever, the power of article submission with the benefits of unique content and it does it in such a way that it really is simplicity itself to use.

It is worthwhile devoting some time investigating this software, if you are seriously trying to promote something online. It will make your job easier by automating a lot of the problems associated with article submission.

It is important to realize that an organic link on the first page of Google provides about six times the traffic of a sponsored (Adsense) link on the same page. Just how much would you from that each month? Now multiply that by, say, a hundred or a thousand and you can begin to understand the value of this method!

Are you in Internet marketing? If so, you need to publish articles, so you need to check out this site Internet marketing. Also published at What Would You Give To Be Number1 In The Search Engines?.

Getting That Number 1 Google Position.

If you haven’t already put your article submission on autopilot, it can only be for one of three reasons:

1. You simply already have enough free traffic to your website,

2. You have not read my previous articles, or

3. You still haven’t been able to realize the power and incredible value of this system. that is, how this will dramatically boost your sales.

If you fall into the first category, then please move on to the next article, this one just doesn’t apply to you.

Otherwise please take a moment to read this article carefully, as it really could make the difference between success and failure to your online business this year. You see, people love to make things complicated, but making money online is actually really simple. Whether you are selling your own product, promoting affiliate links, or making money from Adsense or “click flipping”, it all boils down to just two things:

Conversion and Traffic.

Conversion must come first of all. You need to have an offer that people actually want. That offer could be a product, or an attractive advert (e.g. Google Adsense) that people are compelled to click on. And you need some kind of presentation (such as a sales letter) that encourages them to take the action you require such as to buy the product or to click on the advert.

In many ways this is the easier part. Most people can put together a half decent website or sales letter that will turn at least some visitors into money.

But then, of course, you need ‘traffic’. Shed-loads of it. The more people that come to your site, the more money you will make – especially if that traffic is highly targeted. But, given the number of websites on the Internet – all competing for the same traffic, just how do you get more visitors to your site?

Well, there are just three ways that visitors come to your site:

1. Visitors type your URL straight into their browser. That results from some sort of off-line promotion: it might be your business card, a radio advert, an article in a magazine or a conversation with a friend.

2. People click on a link. It may be in an email they received (eg from a friend or from an ezine they subscribed to) or it may be on another website they have visited.

3. Or they do a search in a search engine, see your website in the listings, and click on the link to visit you.

And that is it. There is no other way for them to get to your website.

So, if we know that, how do we get more traffic? Easy:

1. Advertise your Internet presence in all your offline promotional materials.

2. Get lots of people to put links to you on their website, and lots of people to send out emails with your links in them.

3. Get a top position in the search engines.

Yes.., sounds simple doesn’t it, but maybe it is not so easy in practice? Just how do you achieve steps 2 and 3 without spending bucketsful of cash or getting your site banned by the search engines?

To understand this, we need to think about how the search engines work. Again, it is much simpler than people say.

Search engines want lots of people to use them. To achieve that, they strive to deliver relevant and up-to-date content to people who do a search through them. But how do they determine what is relevant to your search?

There are really only two ways they can do that:

1. They scan your site and, using very sophisticated algorithms, they determine what the subject matter of your website is. They also check how new or old it is, how recently it was updated and so on. These are all known as on-page or on-site factors. You have direct control over many of these factors when you set up your site.

2. They ‘consider’ what other people write about your website. In doing that, they look at two factors: how many people have links to your site (and what those links say) and also how important are the sites that link to your site. An important site of ‘authority’ that points to you is worth more than a whole list of unimportant sites. They also consider how old the links that point to you are, and a number of other factors about the value of the link and the context in which it is used.

At the same time, the search engines are constantly looking out for sites that try to fool them into thinking that they are more relevant or more popular than they really are. Which is why the so-called “black-hat” techniques quickly lose their effectiveness.

So, to get to the top of the search engines you need to do two things:

1. Optimize your on-page factors. There is plenty of information online about how to do that. It is not difficult. But, in itself, it is also not enough.

2. Get lots of high quality, one-way, relevant links to your website from as many other websites as possible.

How do you get people to link to you?

1. Create a fantastic website so that others just honestly want to tell others about your site.

2. Pay others to link to you – buy a text link, or offer an affiliate program.

3. Swap links with other websites – but reciprocal links are clearly not worth as much as one-way back-links and it is a lot of work to do this effectively anyway.

4. Provide them with fresh, unique content that adds value to their site in return for which they must agree to post a link back to you. Thousands of sites are constantly looking for fresh, unique content. They get this content by searching through article directories, or by subscribing to article submission services.

So, if you send out articles to these directories, your articles will end up both on the directories themselves AND on the niche sites that pick up and use our articles. AND some of these sites are likely to be valuable “authority”-type sites. Of course, whether it is taken up and by whom, depends on the quality of your article.

So, as you can see, this last method is the simplest and most powerful. It gives you hundreds or thousands of one way back-links, from relevant, niche sites, all for free. All you need is some way to get a different, unique, article to each of those directories and ezine publishers. Which is, of course, exactly what our software does.

But wait! We don’t stop there. The real power behind this method comes when you use it regularly. Preferably at least once a week. Imagine getting 200 to 1800 new permanent one way links every week! By the end of a year, you could easily have 50,000 or more relevant, quality, one-way links to your site! And you can connect the submission process to a timer to put everything on autopilot!

That is the power of this system and that is why it beats every other traffic generation and SEO system there is.

So, unless you don’t have an online presence at all, isn’t it time you harnessed this power for your own business? Click on our link below now to get the early-bird discount and get a fantastic bunch of bonuses:

Determining Where To Invest

There are several different types of investments, and there are many factors in determining where you should invest your funds.

Naturally, deciding where you will place your money starts with researching the different types of investment on the market, determining your risk aversion, and determining your investment style and your financial aims.

If you wanted to purchase a new car, for instance, you would do quite a bit of research before making a final decision and a purchase. You would never consider purchasing a car that you had not fully looked over and taken for a test drive. Investing works in much the same way.

You will, of course, learn as much about the investment as possible, and you would want to see how past investors have done as well. It’s just common sense!

Does learning about the stock market and investments take a lot of time? Yes it does, but it is certainly time well spent. There are hundreds of of books and websites on the topic, and you can also take college level courses on the topic, which is what professional stock brokers do. If you have access to the Internet, you can actually play the stock market with funny money in order to get a feeling for how it all works.

You can make pretend investments in a pretend portfolio, and see how they do. Do a search with any search engine for ‘Stock Market Games’ or ‘Stock Market Simulations’, although almost every online stock broker provides these services. This is a great way to start learning about investing in the stock market.

Other types of investments outside of the stock market do not always have simulators, so you will have to learn about those types of investments the hard way – by reading.

As a potential investor, you must study thing you can possibly get your hands on about investing, but make sure you start at the lowest level of investment books and websites, otherwise, you will soon discover that you are are hopelessly confused.

Finally, speak to a financial planner. Tell him your aims and ask them for their suggestions. This is what they do for a living! A good financial planner can easily help you determine where to invest your money, and help you set up a plan to reach all of your financial aims. Many planner will even teach you about investing along the way, so make sure to pay close attention to what they are telling you!

Wireless Home Security System

Nowadays a house or even an apartment is not thought of as complete without an adequate home security systems Not having one often has an effect on the market price of the property too – downwards if your home security system is found wanting or even non existent. People are just too worried about the rising levels of crime. One of the problems for home owners is that stores and other businesses have got their act together and are very well protected in general. This has forced the average burglar too turn his attention to houses.

The number of burglaries has risen by almost 10% over the last five years because of this fact so now every household should be considering upgrading, replacing or fitting a new home security system. It is a pity that the situation has come to this, but it is so. I myself was beaten in my home by burglars ten years ago. They tied me up and threatened me with a knife. They also threatened to skin my dog in front of me. It was not pleasant.

Modern technology makes it easy to fit a very good home security system, without having to spend a great deal of money. Often when you have work done on your home or your car, the labour element of the cost is more than that of the parts you wanted. It can be the same with the installation of a home security system. However, a wireless home security system can be fitted by any reasonably capable person, which allows you to save money or just get a better system.

If you can run a wire from a fuse box and climb a ladder you can fit a home security system yourself. With older wired systems, it was tricky to hide the wires that ran to the sensors. You had to insert them behind coving and skirting boards an chase them into the plaster. It is a lot of work to do it correctly, but it is simpler with a wireless system.

If you go wireless, the only thing you will have to do or have done is wire the central control box directly to the fuse box and wire up the external siren too. After that you can just fix the proper sensors in the proper places and you are done. All of this is explained in the instructions, which I suggest you scan while you are in the shop in case they are in badly translated Chinese.

You can take the basic home security system as far as you like. Modern wireless technology permits many extras and varieties. A basic system would consist of the control box, the external siren and all the sensors, but you ought to add outside security lights to this as a necessity. They can be wirelessly linked to the control box too.

Then you could add surveillance cameras and a speaker-phone on the front door. All of these things can relay information to your control box and from there to a PC, if required. The Internet can be used as an interface to control your system as well, if you want – even from work or while on holiday!

A wireless home security system is a very adaptable piece of equipment, but is not that complicated to fit, go to the mall as soon as you have time to get some leaflets.

Security Bars: Are They Worth The Risks?

There are many things that families and businesses do in order to secure their property. One measure that is often taken in the name of security is the addition of security bars to doors and windows. Despite the inherent benefits of securing property, these bars often present risks of endangering the people inside.

One thing remains accurate, most burglars will keep moving rather than try entering into a home that has security bars on doors and windows. Home protection is the only security that these bars supply however for many, the risks involved in having these bars on windows is not worth the small degree of security that is provided. In other words, the good of these bars is greatly outweighed by the negatives.

A lot of people do not purchase new security bars but rather rely on the same bars that have covered the windows of the home or business for many years. Some of these are rusted and virtually impossible to take away. In emergency situations, every second matters and these bars can be the very things that trap people inside a burning or flooding structure.

Security bars are no longer the cheap alternative to traditional alarm systems and monitoring services that they were touted to be in the past. In fact, more often than not the pose a greater risk than they are a benefit to business and homeowners. Many larger businesses offer free fitting of alarm systems and alarms as well as monthly monitoring services at reasonable rates. More significantly not only are these monitoring services available for breaks-in, but also for fire and smoke as well as panic button services.

Security bars may have had a time and place, but they have been replaced by something that is much more effectual at deterring criminals as well as something that offers a greater degree of protection for the most precious assets of any home or business – the people inside. The costs concerned in monthly monitoring seem great but most will find that the value this service provides if and when it is ever called upon is well worth every penny.

Options to burglar bars that are not terribly expensive include planting thorny bushes below windows and keeping them trimmed back just enough that they do not block a view of the windows. Most burglars do not want a difficult entry point and they certainly do not want to be wounded during the process by prickly plants. Lighting is another option that is essentially less expensive than it would be to install burglar bars. Intruders do not want to be seen. If the area surrounding your home and business is well lit, it will serve as a deterrent. Investigate options such as this before resorting to security bars.

To answer the question of whether or not security bars are worth the risks for home or business protection the answer would be a loud “No!”. There are other preventative measures that can be taken in order to deter intruders that present far less risk to family members and employees. These alternatives should be implemented rather than those that pose further risks to those you are trying to look after.

Retirement And Online Stock Trading

Retirement brings the retiree more time and usually, less income. However, the invention of the Internet has changed the way that people lead their lives, hobbies and business. You can pay your bills online, do your shopping online, do your banking online, and even date online!

Nowadays, one can even buy and participate in online stock trading. Perhaps the retiree could use the extra time to study the stock market and maybe make some extra cash to and to his/her pension. Online stock investors like having the facility of viewing their stock investment accounts whenever they need to, and online stock brokers love having the facility to take stock market orders over the Internet, as opposed to over the telephone.

All it takes really is reading the newspapers and watching the news. Well, that is the start of it. Any ideas that spring to mind can be followed up by greater research into the company concerned. The majority of stock brokers and brokerage houses now offer online stock research to their clients as well as online stock investing. One other great thing about online stock trading is that fees and commissions are often lower. While online stock trading is great, there are also some drawbacks.

So, if you are brand new to trading, having the ability to actually speak with a stock broker can be quite beneficial, if you aren’t stock market conscious, online stock trading may be a rather risky thing for you to do, although advice from a stock market trader is expensive. If this is the case, make sure that you learn as much as you can about trading stocks before you start online stock trading. If you are new to online stock investing, make sure that you learn as much as you can about researching companies and trading stocks before you start to trade online stock for real.

You could run a dummy portfolio. For example, most online stock brokers offer the facility to run a ‘watch list’ or dummy portfolio, where you can ‘buy and sell’ without using real money.

You should also be aware that not everyone has a computer with Internet access on them, although many mobile phones can get online. So you might not always have the ability to get online to make a trade when you want to. You will need to be sure that you can call your broker if you use an online stock broker. This is true whether you are an advanced stock market trader or a beginner.

Furthermore, it is also a good idea for the retiree to open an account with an online stock investing firm that has been around for a long time. Sure, you won’t find one that has been in online business for 30-50 years, but you will find a company that has been in business that long and that now also offers online stock trading.

To be sure, online stock trading is a wonderful opportunity for retirees – but it is not for everyone, the impetuous can lose money quickly. Think carefully before you decide to go for online stock trading, and make sure that you really know what you are letting yourself in for!

Therefore, in summary, retirees can use their newly-found free time to explore the stock market free by finding leads in newspapers, magazines and news programmes. These leads can then be followed up by online research using a free online stock investing account.

These hunches can then be tracked by using a dummy portfolio. When you have gained sufficient experience, you can go ‘live’ by opening an active online stock investing account.

If you want to know further about online stock investing, just go to our web-based resource Online Stock Investing for Retirees for further information. Also published at Retirement And Online Stock Trading.

Safes At Home And In Business

These days information is one of the most valuable commodities. Personal information such as your social security number, tax identification numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, passwords and PIN’s are precious assets and must be highly guarded, because if this information gets into the wrong hands, thieves could cause havoc in your financial and personal life.

Some companies, especially those that have high and rapid employee turnover rates are often targeted specifically for their employee details. This information in the right hands is worth far more than the one-off theft of money or merchandise and is much more tough to trace.

One way that most companies and some homes are protecting this valuable information is by buying large safes in which to store the information that they have on paper and disk. Some businesses go one step further however and buy hidden or disguised safes. This adds still another layer of protection and security for employees who may be concerned about identity theft.

When it comes to security for homes, safes offer a great means to safeguard not only important papers but also jewelry, letters and gold. Another great thing about safes for protecting valuables in the home is that most safes are also virtually fire proof. This means that the valuables held in the safe are likely to survive in the event that a fire damages your home. Not only will a safe offer the security of ‘safe guarding” your possessions but also your peace of mind by allowing you to know that your important documents and information (including insurance papers) are kept safe from prying eyes.

Some safe manufacturers concentrate in making safes discreet so that the casual observer would not realize that you had a safe in your home at all. In fact, a professional installer can make them almost completely unnoticeable. This can be done so well that not even your friends and family would know.

Other types of safes that offer security to your home and/or business, depending on what kind of business you are in, of course are gun safes. Quite frankly, having guns out in the open and freely accessible to anyone who walks in the door is not only foolish but should be against the law too. It is wise, for those who own guns to have a gun safe in which to store those weapons. Ammunition should be stored elsewhere. Guns do not provide sufficient defense for homes or business. In many cases, those who attempt to use their guns for home security, are only managing to provide another weapon to the intruder rather than managing to safeguard their belongings or protect their families.

Safes offer good protection and security for homes and businesses when properly used and guarded. Safes offer little protection however if everyone and their brother knows the location and/or the combination to the safe. You should keep that information closely guarded in order to receive the maximum security that owning a safe can provide.

Home Security – 10 Tips To Protect Yourself And Your Family

When people think of home security, they are inclined to think of electronic surveillance systems. However, there are other methods to protect yourself and your family from harm and burglars. I will give you my top ten tips for home security.

1] Windows are actually the key to home security. Window-stays become loose or sloppy as they become older and sometimes you can get a window-stay to jump off its peg by thumping the outside window frame. Fit window stay locks

2] Doors must be robust, well-hung on strong hinges and have secure locks. Fit deadlocks, especially on exterior doors.

3] Spare keys should not be secreted near the door under a mat, a flower pot or a stone. If you want to leave a key with a neighbour, select the neighbour cautiously. Be wary of those with teenage kids, their friends may become aware that the spare key in the fruit bowl is to your house.

4] Tools that can help a burglar must be locked away. Keep your shed and garage doors locked and if you have a ladder, chain and lock it to a fixed point like a wall.

5] Dogs are useful for home security, but they cannot be relied on. Some thieves will poison a dog to get in. If you leave your dog in the house, get a box to fit inside your door to collect whatever comes in, lock the letter box closed or seal it off for good. If you leave the dog in the garden, try to get a neighbour to check up on it from time to time.

6] Plants and bushes should not be permitted to grow big enough to block anyone’s view of windows and doors. Passers-by and ‘nosy neighbours’ are a big deterrent to thieves, but if no one can see a ground floor widow, the burglar can gain access unobserved. if you do want bushes under your windows, make them tough, thorny ones.

7] Boundary walls or fences are your first line of protection. They can be a good disincentive, if you get the style right. Some people embed broken glass into the top of the wall, but this may be illegal and can hurt unsuspecting cats. The best thing to do is nail carpet-gripper just below the top, inside lip of the wall. Anyone putting their hands over the wall to pull themselves up will get a very horrible shock and leave DNA.

8] Valuables should not be put on show near windows. Your house is your home not a presentation case. Put your TV, DVD player and video recorder in a cabinet, maybe get a safe for your valuables but conceal that too.

9] External lighting is a key part of night-time security. Get exterior lights that are activated by motion (microwave) or heat (passive infra red), put at least one on each outside wall of your house.

10] Electronic surveillance systems are a necessity these days. You do not need cameras, but they are helpful for identifying intruders. Your home security system can be wired or wireless, monitored or not.

These top ten home security tips should prevent your home from becoming an easy target for burglars.

Home Security Tips – How To Make Your Home Unappealing To Burglars

These days everybody is concerned about the security of their homes and justly so! According to official American government statistics, the number of house burglaries has increased by nearly ten percent in the last five years to about fourteen million per annum.

That is a lot of homes. I was burgled ten years ago and I have studied and done my best to never be one of those statistics again. In this piece, I will pass on some of my home security tips on how to make your home unappealing to thieves.

The first thing to think about is whether you have anything in your garden, shed or garage that will help a thief get into your house. Things like ladders, crow-bars, screwdrivers, sledge hammers. If you do, then lock them away. Keep the shed and garage doors locked at all times. If you have a ladder that will not fit in the shed or garage, chain and padlock it to a brick wall, so that nobody can use it to get in.

Never believe that your home is less at risk just because you or someone else is inside it. Some thieves are crazy and it is simpler to ask someone where the money is than to try to find it yourself. It is easier to demand the keys to the safe than to pick the lock. I know. thieves came into my house while I was at work. They saw my safe, but could not get into it, so they came back three nights later when I was at home. It was truly not pleasant.

Do not put a spare front or back door key under the mat, a flower vase or near-by rock. Burglars expect people to do that and it is the first place they look. If you are thinking about leaving a key with a neighbour, choose your neighbour well. In fact choose the family well. Does the family have teenage kids? If so, could their friends find out that that ‘spare key’ is to your home? Do you trust all the friends of that neighbour’s children? Do you even know them?

Beware of people you do not know. I do not mean be fearful, but someone asking to make an urgent call because of a ‘breakdown’, could be casing your house or sizing you up. If you want to help, make the call for them or direct them to the nearest public telephone booth or a shop.

Keep all your doors and windows locked. If reasonable locked shut, when you are away from the house, but you can get window-stay locks so that you can lock a fanlight window ajar a few inches too. This is very helpful in the summer or if you have animals. Lock upstairs windows too – your neighbour may have a loose ladder that a thief can use.

Do not display your valuables needlessly. Video recorders, DVD players and even the TV can be put in cabinets. Jewellery should be put in a box or a safe. Cash likewise. Your house is a home, not a presentation case to would be thieves.

My last home security tip to make your home unappealing to thieves is to stay alert and to warn your neighbours of any slip-ups they are making too. If you can elevate the general awareness of crime in the people around you, everyone will be a lot safer.

Exterior Security Lighting

It is entirely natural that we all want to keep our homes and businesses safe and well protected, but there are many ways in which this can be accomplished. The cheapest and most cost effective way is exterior security lighting

It truly is a no brainer, poor lighting can make a home or business a much more appealing target than the house next door because it has less satisfactory exterior security lighting. Burglars look for dimly lit points of entry into premises that appear to contain riches, so when you are designing the security system for your home or business you should try to think like a thief.

Look at your buildings from the outside, or look at someone else’s first and ask yourself, how you would get in there if you had to. Pretend that you forgot your keys or that there is a crucial problem in your property. How would you get in? This is where chummy gets in and you must find out how to obstruct his every move.

Ten years ago, I lived in a bungalow on my own with my small, knee-high dog and armed robbers attacked me in my home, despite the fact that I had a decent home security system. Do not let it happen to you. My blunder was that I had insufficient exterior security lighting.

They had cut my phone line during the day and because I used a cell phone for most of my calls, I did not notice. Also my dog was sick, but I did not appreciate that she had been poisoned too. At eleven o’clock at night there was a ring on the front door and I opened it, thinking that it was a neighbour in trouble.

A man charged in and over-powered me and the rest was not nice. However, the whole regrettable issue could have been avoided, if I had thought like them..

I was in the habit of pulling the curtains when I got home, so I did not notice that they had taken the lamps from my exterior security lighting too.

My advice is to check your exterior security lighting every night when you get home and keep the bushes or shrubs cut low around your front and back doors. Make sure that your exterior security lighting is working every evening and make sure that you can see who is ringing your door bell.

Provide your garden and your doors with lots of light. Let them be on motion sensors and check who is at your door from a side window that looks out onto the front door. I had a gorgeous frosted glass pane in my front door, but that is no use. I could not recognize anyone through it.

Get a panic button fitted by your doors, a big one, so that if you are surprised you can lash out and still hit it and above all make your next door neighbours aware that if your external siren sounds, that you are in danger and that you need assistance immediately. If you are not in trouble, you can always say sorry later.

Garden Security Lighting

One of the most basic steps you can take when building your home security system, is the setting up of garden security lighting. Garden security lighting is also one of the most effective ways of discouraging criminals and it is one of the cheapest techniques too. All in all the installation of garden security lighting is the most effective and cost-effective method of home security

Other outdoor security gadgets such as security cameras are much more expensive and only serve one purpose, that is the security of your home. On the other hand, garden security lighting can be used to supply a welcoming light to guide the way to your front door to your visitors or to light up your backyard if you want to sit outside or admire a particularly beautiful group of flowers. They are also good for illuminating a fountain on a pond.

Adding motion sensor lighting controls to your garden security lighting also increases its effectiveness. The passive infra red motion sensors will pick up body heat automatically and switch the light on framing the moving object in a powerful beam. Microwave sensors provide a similar function but work on motion. They extend the length of time the bulb will last and reduce electrical use, while making sure you get light when you need it.

However, if you sit behind closed curtains in your home at night, you may not see the warning of the lights coming on. Therefore, some of these garden security lighting systems have a built-in bell or buzzer which makes a sound when the light comes on. You can also have them send a signal to your main indoor alarm system control box, which will beep and let you know where the light is that was triggered (front, rear or side of the house).

Garden security lighting can also be solar powered. This makes them slightly more expensive to purchase but very much cheaper to install and to run. Some of these lights are permanently fixed to the house’s fascia boards while others are just pressed into the ground. This latter sort are ideal for garden parties that go on into the night, as long as you remember to put them back where they belong before going in.

It is a good idea to aim the motion sensors of the lights some four feet above ground level or they will be switched on by every cat that comes over your wall in the middle of the night. Likewise, you can turn down the sensitivity of the PIR or microwave sensors so that the sensors do not pick up birds like pigeons.

The lights have daylight sensors on them too so that the motion sensors only activate the light at night. Some of these sensors will still register movement in the daytime and report it back to the main unit if you want that.

So, all in all, there are plenty of different options when you are considering home security, but garden security lighting has to come at the top of your list, if you want an effective, reassuring home security system.

Putting Your Business On Autopilot

I’ve been an Internet marketer for quite a few years and I own a few different kinds of online business ventures. However, because I am a sole trader, working on my own and necessarily having only a set number of hours in the day, my business activities also have their natural limits. After all, it stands to reason, that one person can only spend roughly 16 hours a day and even then no one can keep to that pace for a long time.

Therefore, the size of an enterprise is limited by the number of people working for it or put another way, the number of man-hours devoted in to it. I suppose that what I’m trying to say is that it’s hard to make a good salary when you work alone.

And so, with this in mind, I have been on the look out for methods to automate parts of my business for quite a long time, although I have already taken several steps in this direction. For instance, I have given up writing HTML ‘by hand’ for a long while and bought a great HTML editor, which I will tell you about some day; I moved to a web-hosting firm that offers unlimited autoresponders amongst other great features and I hire some fantastic article submission software.

However, that left me with little more time and money than previously, although I was running several times as many sites as before and still doing it all on my own. There was obviously something I was missing, but I didn’t know what it was.

Then, one day, while surfing, I came across an article on the subject and it sort of made sense, no revalationary flash or anything like that, but a slow understanding over the next few hours that the article was telling it like I wanted it to be.

To cut a long story short, I bought the ebook and have followed its advice since then without looking back. I now work just the same hours as before, but I operate ten times as many websites and the money is far better.

How could that be? Well, the truth is that this ebook showed me how to interlock all the processes of promoting and developing websites, so that they can take care of themselves for greater periods of time. The time I used to spend on tinkering with websites and SEO to correct minor errors or things I’d left out, I now put into new ideas.

Nowadays, my websites, once they have been set up, require very little maintenance, which means that I can do something else with the extra time. I choose to work, but others could decide to take the time off. It’s really difficult to think of a better deal.

This intriguing ebook on automating your profits will give you at least a day out of five off and maybe even more and that makes it worth looking into on its own right. The ebook is fully guaranteed for 90 days, with a full, no-quibble, money-back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose. Moreover, I promise you that you will learn how to put your Internet business on autopilot and learn how to use your time more usefully.

Panic Alarms For Home And Business Alarm Systems

In all probability, every home and every business would benefit from the protection of a panic alarm. Breaks-in are common enough, but with people living longer the probability of stroke or heart attack have risen too. If you were living alone it would be dreadful to be lying on the ground incapacitated for hours. Panic alarms are the solution. They can be placed in a handy location or worn around your neck.

These are not the sort of personal alarms that emit a high pitched whistle or siren sound. Those alarms are meant to deter criminals on the street or to draw attention to the user. No, I mean a device that starts off your home security system. it does not create a noise of its own, but communicates with the main security control box by some sort of radio signal.

Some of these panic alarms do not activate the main security siren, but instead send a message to a monitoring security company. These so-called silent panic alarms are most often used in banks, firearms shops and places that handle lots of ready money. However, any business could use a silent panic alarm. Household alarm systems usually activate the external siren in order to alert your neighbours that you are having problems.

Panic buttons are especially helpful to the elderly or and infirm. Sometimes, people fall and cannot get up. You could also have a heart attack or stroke and not be able to make it to the phone. A panic button on a card around your neck would solve this problem. Some of these panic buttons are monitored too and others even have a microphone and speaker so that you can speak to an operator and explain your situation.

Some of these panic buttons have a keypad so that you can send codes to the operator. Other means have been built into watches and brooches in order to make them easier to carry. If you wear your panic alarm, it is much less easy to forget to take it with you when you go upstairs or into the garden.

If you can afford security, you really ought to have a system, as good as you can afford, installed into your home and business. A panic alarm is a useful extra item for home and office use too, but it is especially comforting to the elderly. Many older people are frightened of falling when they are in the house alone and fear of burglars or worse is a constant worry. A panic alarm linked to the main home siren is also a reassurance to women living alone.

If you do get a home security alarm with a panic button, make certain that you keep a spare battery near at hand and check that the battery in the equipment has not become depleted. You should also warn the neighbours you get on best with that you have a home security system and that they should come to your assistance or phone the police, if they hear your home security siren and see the flashing light.

Issues Of Home Security

Home security is a mammoth issue, but this is nothing new – it always has been an issue for parents and home owners. The problem is that family structure has altered. Not so long ago, people had much larger families and mothers or grandmothers were at home to look after the kids. With six, eight or even ten kids in a family, the house was never empty so burglars did not have a lot of opportunity. There was more social cohesion too, so criminals were loath to steal from their neighbours. So they attacked shops instead.

However, shops and other businesses started using electronic burglar alarms as the prices fell. These security units were so effective that burglars turned to stealing from people’s homes, which is made easier by the fact that the kids are in school and the parents are at work all day. American federal statistics indicate that domestic burglaries are up nearly ten percent since 2004. So, what can you do to put off a burglar?

If your residence is left unoccupied for a large part of the day because your children are at school, nursery or a baby-sitters’ and you are at work, consider getting some home help or joining a neighbourhood watch scheme. If you had a cleaner coming and going, it would afford some activity to discourage thieves.

Becoming a member of a neighbourhood watch would convey to your neighbours that you are worried about security and they will keep an eye on your home while you are out. Get your self a dog too, although be conscious that they can be easily poisoned, if the crook has access to them..

Fit an electronic surveillance system. This could be a monitored or tape set-up. Monitored is the best. An added bonus to a surveillance set-up is that you can be certain what your baby sitter gets up to while you are out too. You can turn it off when you yourself are at home or just leave the outside cameras on.

Another additional benefit with a home security system is that you can get a panic button linked to the system’s main external siren and strobe light. If you are attacked or worried, you can trigger the alarm by pushing a button on a device that you can wear around your neck. They can also be built into watches and brooches. These personal panic buttons are a good idea for the elderly and single women offering peace of mind to those living alone.

A monitored surveillance system will also warn you if your house catches fire while you are asleep or out or if someone is mooching around your garden. Often the operator of the system will phone the emergency services too after they have alerted you.

A good surveillance system can be used as a bargaining chip with your insurance broker to obtain some hefty discounts on your premium. If you have a small business that you operate from home, you may be able to off-set some or all of the overheads against your business too and a good home surveillance system can boost the selling price of your house, because it makes it that one step more comprehensive, like having uPVC doors and windows and a wooden deck.

How To Protect Your Home And Family

Everybody worries about the security of their homes and families. The question is: how can you make your home secure without turning it into Fort Knox? The sad fact is that, if someone is resolute to get into your home, they can and will. Ten years ago, my home was ‘secure’, but I was tricked into opening the door and I let my attackers in. No home security system can safeguard against situation like that.

Burglars look for homes that seem vulnerable. Most crooks are opportunistic. In other words, if they see an open door or window or if it is evident that no one is at home and if there is no obvious security, then it is worth them trying to get in. Open gates are also an invitation. So are valuable possessions put on show in windows.

It only takes minutes to steal something, you would be astonished. I let two armed robbers into my house and they timed 15 minutes to take everything of value in my house and then a car stopped outside to pick them up. It was night time and I was tied up. It could have been a taxi, which would not have aroused my neighbours’ suspicion.

It is important to show people (opportunistic thieves) that you have a home security system of some type. If you cannot afford a proper, working alarm system, get a dummy siren box with a flashing light. It is not as good as a real system, but it would take a brave or desolate burglar to find out, which means that you cannot tell anyone at all, in case it gets out.

A home security system is well-worth the money you will spend on it. The anxiety of being burgled or even held up, like I was, will make you wish that you were more security conscious. But it does not stop when the burglars go away. Then the police come and I spent from midnight until 4AM at the police station. I had to go back at least a dozen times after that. My insurance company had dozens of queries and it took four months to get a payout.

I felt certain that the burglars knew me, and I felt threatened everywhere I went for months. I could not stop glaring into people’s eyes to see if I could recognize my intruders’ (they had masks on, but I saw one man’s eyes). My life has altered radically. I even moved out of my house the next day and never went back again.

As I said earlier, I had a decent system in place, but I had turned it off as soon as I got home and opened the front door to my intruders. My suggestion is to get a wired or wireless home security system and, if you can afford it, get a monitored home security system with at least one surveillance camera, but preferably one on each external wall and one inside in the hall.

Get contact sensors for all external doors and vibration sensors for every windows. Put a personal panic button by all external doors and have garden lights that are switched on by motion or body heat outside. Keep your system switched on and be very wary of who you open the door to.

Internet Businesses

Recent market studies indicate that the growth rate of Internet purchases has been incredibly high during the last couple of years, and despite the conditions of the real world financial crisis that made the online orders register a corresponding decrease, things still look very rosy for the Internet. However, from this perspective, people who promote a service or product as part of an Internet business have lots of things to do before they can see the money roll in.

E-retailing remains a profitable Internet business, but heavy promotional support is usually necessary to beat competition and create profit. Behind the comprehensive online web catalogues that sell us all manner of things, there lies a huge amount of work to support not only the web page as such, but to run continual market analysis and have a realistic picture of where the business stands on the e-market. A pertinent example here would be that of analysing the first-page search results of engines like Google and Yahoo.

The Internet business with the highest likelihood to complete a transaction is the one that appears first when a searcher types a keyword in the search box of the search engine. Therefore, the big competition between the various companies active online is to have a high page rank and a proper representation in the search engines.

This can only be done by the professional support of the web pages and constant monitoring of the site performance, according to the number of visitors and the resulting transactions.

Just like for real-world money-making opportunities, an Internet business needs careful planning. Thus, one targets the market, gathers information on the competition, ensures good resources, attracts finances and funds, if necessary and takes the measures that build customers’ loyalty. Furthermore, depending on the type of product or service offered, the Internet business could require a strategic alliance with other entrepreneurs.

Consequently, for every Internet business idea you get, you need to learn whether there is a market for it. Then, if you lack the budget to invest, you have to seek alternative financing opportunities to support you entrepreneurial aspirations. And last but not least, you should never neglect web site investment.

The design and constant support that keeps your Internet business running could easily cost you a small monthly mint. However, your website is the interface, the place where the customer comes into contact with your product or service, and the impression has to be the best. Good luck!
