Relaxing In The Bath

Most individuals like soaking in the bath, even those individuals who say that you can not get clean in a bath. It is very relaxing, but there are some things that can increase your enjoyment of relaxing in the bath. Most of these accessories for relaxing in the bath are good for Jacuzzis. hot tubs, spas and normal baths.

The first thing that helps make a bath more relaxing is bubble bath. You ought to not use bubble bath in a hot tub – hot spa with a filter, because it can block up the filter, but bath salts are a good alternative to bubble bath. A waterproof pillow also helps you unwind in the bath.

Aromatic bath salts or bubble bath can have a very hypnotic influence, so be sure that you do not fall asleep, particularly if you are indulging in my second favourite way of relaxing in the bath. I like to have a few glasses of red wine in the bath, but in that case you have to be very careful not to fall asleep, especially if you have had a hard day.

If you are fond of a romantic bath alone or with a friend, candles are the way to go. Get the large, thick candles so that they will not burn down or fall over. Candles can be perilous if you do not place them on candle holders or loose tiles, which is why I advocate thick candles. Again they can be aromatic.

Many of people like to listen to music in the bath, but be cautious of using anything that necessitates mains power whilst you are in the water. It is better to use a battery powered or rechargeable unit for replaying your music.

If you have a spare CD player, you could build it into an outdoor hot tub and run it off the mains for the pump, but just place it out of reach of the tub. Use a remote if you need to control it. Bathing in the garden is excellent, but we can not all do that.

You can recreate an outdoor atmosphere by putting potted plants in the bathroom. Some plants do not like a lot of light, but do like a humid atmosphere. Some orchids fall into this bracket, but there must be lots of others as well – merely enquire at your garden centre.

Mirrors are sexy in the bathroom and will help the room look bigger and more full or candles and plants. The bathroom is frequently the smallest room in the house, so a couple mirrors will help create it look bigger.

If you are in a standard bath indoors in the bathroom, you could fit a bubble mat. It is like a shower mat, but it pumps air and recycles water through holes in it, making it act a little like a hot tub spa. A bath bubble mat is no surrogate for a spa, but it is better than nothing and is fairly cheap.

How To Plan A Private Party At A Day Spa

Are you thinking of holding a party? It could be a birthday party or an anniversary for yourself or a friend or it could only be because you want to have a party. Pool parties are great in the summer, but then, not everybody has a pool and it is not always summer, is it? Did you know that many spas will allow you to hold a party on their premises?

That would be great too, would it not? Having access to the heated pool, the hot spas and Jacuzzis, the steam room or saunas or Turkish bath. I am not sure that I would be keen on working out at the gym at a party though! A stomach full of cake and lemonade would not work well whilst working on your abs.

If you are keen on holding a party at a local spa, the first thing to do is find a local spa that permits the holding of private parties. This is easy enough. Most spas will have a web site which has all the facilities listed on it. So either do a search on the Internet for ‘spas in xxxxx’, where xxxxx is the name of your town or look under spas in Yellow Pages but then use the names to look for the web sites.

There are a couple of items that you have to check next, but first make a list of what facilities you want to enjoy at your party. Do you want it to be private or open to all? Do you want to let children in? Does everyone have to dress the part or can individuals (older individuals maybe) wear street clothes? Is alcohol available and can you take drinks into the jacuzzi?

Once you have your list of requirements and suitable dates, you are in a position to look for fitting locations. Once you find the nearest fit to your needs, phone them up and ask if they will permit all your needs. It may not be a problem for them.

How many people are going to be at your spa party but who is going to pay? Well, it depends on the party actually. Say a bride-to-be wants to go to the spa with her bride’s maids before the wedding; the bride should pay.

What if five friends begin a night on the town at the spa? Everyone pays their own way.You can discuss a discount at a great deal of spas if more than five or six individuals attend as a group, yet that discount might not be big.

A spa party is a fantastic day out whatever the reason for the party, and they are very flexible. You could hire the whole spa for two or three hours for mum’s fiftieth and meet up in the bar afterwards or you could use the spa party as a precursor to going on somewhere else. One thing is for certain, you will feel at your best and up for anything when you walk out of the spa party.

Safe Gas Boiler Repairs

There is not actually much to go wrong with contemporary gas furnaces, but each mechanical item can fail and the central heating system is one of them. The problem is though, that hundreds of millions of households around the world have come to rely on their central heating system.

In general, people are not advised to meddle with items that they know nothing of, especially if it refers to something that could become a fire hazard, but this article is about safe gas furnace repairs, that you can undertake yourself.

Some of these tips might stand you in good stead if the gas furnace in your home central heating system gives up the ghost. These pointers could save you cold nights and high call-out fees.

The more that you become intimate with your central heating system, the more easily you will identify problems that arise, because in general, home heating units have intermittent issues and recurring problems.

Does your heating system keep switching itself on and off at inappropriate times? This almost certainly has something to do with the thermostat. The old way of dealing with thermostats was to tinker with them, but no one does that anymore, they only replace them. You might as well do the same.

Purchase a replacement thermostat and fit it, but if you want to learn more, play about with the metal disk in the old one and refit it after a modification. If you keep going like this, you might find out what works one day. Some thermostats are quite easy devices and you can suss them out.

If your central heating system keeps closing down, this is also probably a difficulty with the thermostat, so long as there is fuel in the tank. The strategy is the same. Look at the disk inside the thermostat and read any writing on it. Normally, if you bias it one way or the other, it will correct the problem.

A very easy one is the pilot light. If your set-up is not working, simply check that the pilot light is burning. The pilot light serves as the ignition for a heat cycle, so if there is not one present, there will be no heat cycle or heating.

The pilot light can be blown out or only go out because of a temporary shortage of fuel, after which it will have to be re-ignited.

If your whole heating system seems to be working normally, but there is no heat coming through the vents, it is probably the blower. Check the fan belt and either tighten the tension or replace it. This is an easy job, which, having done once, you can do in your sleep.

The main thing about any home appliance is not to automatically reach for the phone book if items go wrong. That is exactly what the want you to do. They would like you to think that things are too intricate unless you have studied them, whereas in fact, the majority of engineers just replace parts – very little gets fixed or taken apart any more.

Owen Jones, the writer of this article writes on a number of subjects, but is at present concerned with emergecy air conditioning repairs. If you would like to know more or check out some great offers, please go to our website at Home Air Conditioning Systems.

Fire Safety Equipment

Everyone is afraid of fire. Or they ought to be. Imagine the horror of being trapped in a building or, even worse, on a boat at sea with a fire raging out of control. There have been many films made about it and I am sure that everyone has had occasion to think about what it would be like.

However, how many of us have sufficient fire safety equipment at home, in the garage, in the car or in the office? Could you lay your hands on the necessary fire safety equipment at a moment’s notice? Or do you know where it is (or ought to be), yet are not certain how to use it?

The purpose of this article is to get people to check up on their fire safety equipment and their fire drill. If your company has not practiced a fire drill in a while, remind your boss. If that is you, you are probably breaking the law and if your family does not know where the fire safety equipment is (or how to use it), then you may as well not have bothered buying it in the first place.

The first thing you ought to do is take measures to prevent fires spreading, if they break out. If you live in a street of terraced houses, make certain that there is a fire wall in the attic or roof space to prevent or slow fires spreading to or from your neighbours.

Similarly, take precautions to stop or slow fires spreading from room to room within your own home. For instance, the door to the kitchen could be on a closer, so that it is always closed. The doors should be at least half-hour fire-check, not flimsy cardboard items that will burn down in seconds.

If your garage connects to the house, you ought to have a half-hour fire-check door on a closer there as well and fit intumescent strips to the door to seal it off should it get hot. You can use intumescent strips on the kitchen door too.

Once your abode is as secure as it can be, that is, you can contain a fire, you want to know that you will not sleep through it, so you will need smoke detectors/alarms. These are very sensitive, so putting one in the kitchen is not much use, particularly if you are not much of a chef.

It is better to install smoke detectors in the hall outside the kitchen and at the top of the stairs. If you want the best system, have them all wired in series and to the mains with battery back up. That way, if one is set off, they all go off, the wires cannot get burned through disabling the alarm and the batteries cannot expire leaving you vulnerable.

Once you know that you have a fire, you need to know where your fire safety equipment is and how to use it. First, you should have a couple of fire extinguishers. You must have at least three: one in the kitchen, one in the garage and one in the car, but one on the landing and one in the hall is a very good idea too.

Be aware that not all fire extinguishers are designed to put out the same forms of fire, so please take advice and read the labels. If you have extinguishers among your fire safety equipment, make sure that the refill is not out-of-date and they do require servicing, if you want them to be effective on demand.

Fire blankets are also helpful in putting out fires and for protecting yourself from the scorching heat, if you have to make a rush through the flames to get outside and safety goggles are a fantastic idea at this time, one which many people wish they had thought of before.

This list is not exhaustive, so enquire of for further knowledge from your local fire department.

Charity Shops And Closet Clean Outs

One way of dividing up people that crosses the barriers of age, sex, religion and ethnicity is whether you are a hoarder or not. There are a great deal of hoarders, although some hoarders refer to themselves as collectors or only nostalgic.

That last sentence may be a bit unfair. Collecting can be explained away as a hobby and nostalgia can be considered a yearning for days when we were in better shape.

However, what it all comes down to for billions of households is the buildup of old junk and old clothing. My mother and her mother had decades of clothes that they were sure would come back into fashion one day.

They were probably right and it probably did, but they had to keep the stuff for twenty or thirty years and then teenagers were wearing it, not middle-aged mothers and grandmothers.

My point is that we should clear out our closets and wardrobes more frequently in order to create space and pass things on to people who can use them now rather than in twenty years time. I think that closets should be gone through once or twice a year.

Apart from seasonal stuff, if you have not worn something for months, there must be a good reason. Either you do not like it any more; you have gained weight or it does not suit you. So why not pass it on? Write it off and let someone else benefit from it before the moths do.

You could donate them to the Salvation Army, Shelter or any other charity shop or wait for your local church, school or scout brigade to hold a fund-raising bazaar or bring-and-buy sale.

This clears out room for you so that you can see the wood for the trees, permits a charity to profit from your surplus and allows someone more disadvantaged than you to wear good quality clothing at less than the retail cost.

If you have let spring cleaning drift a bit, not to worry. There are charity shops that have racks specializing in old-fashioned clothes. They call it retro and there are loads of people who enjoy wearing it.

There are also theatre and film companies scouring the secondhand clothes stores looking for period clothing. One of your old suits could be in the next Fifties remake!

However, passing your old, good quality clothing on to charity shops or specialist retro shops, whether you donate or sell them, is only one side of the coin. You can also buy from these stores.

If you have not been in a charity shop for years or think that you would not be seen dead in one, then you should go along and have a look. They are no longer the sad, amateurish places that they once were. They are run professionally and have a decent turnover of stock. They are a particularly decent source of warm winter clothing such as overcoats, so why not do everyone a favour and go and have a look sometime soon?

How To Set Up Your Coat Closet

Most people have some type of arrangement near the main entrance to their house, mostly the front door, for storing residents’ and visitors’ coats. Some houses have a simple row of hooks in the hall, whereas others have a dedicated coat closet or cloakroom.

Furthermore, most of these spaces are fairly chaotic with coats heaped on top of other coats which are heaped on top of other coats that no-one has worn for years.

You should apply the same rules to organizing this region, let’s call it a cloakroom for easy reference, as you do to your bedroom closets or wardrobes. The trick is that everything must have a place and everything should be in that place, which means that you and all the family or all the household have to know the rules.

It simply does not make for a tidy cloakroom if some folk stick to the rules while others do what they please. Let’s take an average family or household of four as another norm. Four people like this will own a coat or two each, a jacket, perhaps an umbrella and several pairs of shoes and a pair of slippers maybe.

You could install a shoe rack so that every person can store, say, three pairs of shoes per person in the cloakroom. If your shoe rack has four levels then three pairs of shoes and a pair of slippers per person. Everything else has to be stored either in the bedroom or the garage. Some footwear is seasonal, so this should not become too much of a difficulty.

Likewise with coats and jackets. You could have a row of coat hooks around the walls of the cloakroom and allocate every member of the household a certain number of hooks. (Look out for the cloakroom hooks that have a top and bottom hook – two for the space of one).

Again, all non-seasonal coats to be kept in the bedroom. One more tip here, remember to assign a row of pegs for visitors. Maybe one of the small walls of a small cloakroom could be set apart for guests.

An ideal cloakroom would have a shoe rack at the floor level or a bit higher, then a row of double coat pegs and then a shelf running around it. This shelf is important. Individuals used to wear hats a great deal more than they do now, but some people still wear gloves, scarves and shawls that they would rather not hang on a hook and others like to ride a motorbike.

Never worry, you will always find something to put on a shelf in a cloakroom even if it is just a tin of air freshener to spray around before guests arrive.

One more thing that is frequently found in cloakrooms that you should reserve space for is the vacuum cleaner. It is convenient to have a vacuum cleaner in the hall to suck up the bits of mud and rubbish that inevitably get carried or blown into the hall, but you will always have room for one in a well-organized cloakroom

How To Select The Right Material For Your Craft Project

Up until fifty years ago, the overwhelming majority of women knew how to sew. All the women that I knew as a child sewed and knitted and made some of the clothes for me and my four brothers. When I was eight or nine, I and every other child in my class was taught the fundamentals of knitting and before I went off to college, my mother taught me how to take up my jeans, sew on patches and repair my clothes.

Sadly, sewing, knitting and repairing clothes has largely died out in the United Kingdom. I now live in Thailand and I do not see much proof of sewing or knitting here, so I assume that these arts are dying out all over the world among the masses, although I am certain that there are some people everywhere who still knit and sew.

It is a real shame. If you are going to make your own clothes or furnishings like cushions, pillows or soft toys, it is quite essential that you select the right cloth for the job. Using the wrong cloth will make your job more difficult and may even render your work worthless. So here are a couple of tips on choosing the right fabric for the task in hand.

The first and most obvious thing to do is read the recommendations on the pattern you are using and if you are a novice take that advice until you know what you are doing. Unfortunately, a lot of people do not read the directions anymore. I can not remember the number of times I have seen someone struggling to assemble something and found the directions in the bin with the packaging.

Get to know fabrics by examining the textiles in the shop. Ask questions about textiles and look at the cloth on the bolt or roll. If the cloth does not look right on the bolt it probably will not look correct anywhere else either. When you unroll a few feet of the bolt, does it lie flat or does it roll up or crumple? Grab a handful and squeeze it. Does it crumple easily? Does it feel right?

Is the fabric fraying on the bolt? If so it will fray when you use it too. Look on the bolt for special cleaning or handling directions. Do they suit your needs?

It is quite difficult to work with satin because it slips easily. T-shirt knit is also difficult because it rolls up on itself. It is probably best to avoid these materials until you acquire some experience

Cotton is the best fabric for novices because it is easy to work with and everyone is very familiar with cotton products. We know how they should feel and we can tell decent, thick heavy cotton from cheap, thin cotton. We also all know that cotton shrinks. Therefore before you cut you cloth. wash it and cut the shrunken cotton fabric. In effect, you have pre-shrunk it.

How To Make A Comfortable Office

If you want to run a happy office, you have to show respect for the people working in it and one of the ways that you can do that is by making them comfortable. People need to feel appreciated. If people feel appreciated they will put more effort in when it is most needed, when the chips are down and you require some extra work done.

This is not a problem to understand, in fact it is pretty obvious, but the funny thing is that this strategy works on oneself as well. Even if you are the sole person in your office and you get to keep all the money you earn and blow it on yourself alone, you will work harder if your office is comfortable, if you have some status-items and self respect.

Psychology is funny like that. You can push buttons just as easily sitting on a feather cushion on an orange crate, but it will never be the same as sitting on a leather executive swivel seat. So, if you are looking for office furniture, you have to look for comfortable office furniture. And appealing office furniture as well.

Whether you are the only one in your office, you have permanent staff and particularly if you use temporary staff, your chairs should be adjustable. That is the first priority, because it has been proven that the only way to maintain the right posture when sitting at a desk is to be able to place your feet flat on the floor with your thighs parallel to the floor. If this is just not feasible then you can use a footstool or a cushion under the feet.

Most people like their office chair to have casters so they can move from the phone to the filing cabinet without getting up. An adjustable office chair will permit anyone coming in to work there to be comfortable within minutes.

If you apply this principle further, you should be able to look at what you are using to work with square on. You have to be able to sit in the middle of its width and look straight at it.

If this article of equipment is a monitor and keyboard, then the monitor and keyboard should be directly in front of you and you should be able to look at the monitor with it square to your face. If you do not have this arrangement, you will frequently get reflections and glare which can cause you to squint or have to dodge about and that is not comfortable.

Most monitors are adjustable for angle of elevation, so turn the monitor to face you directly and then tilt it forwards or backwards until you are looking at it at ninety degrees or square on. If a naked light bulb or tube is still being reflected on the screen, then get a shade or a diffuser for the light. If that does not work, you can get a non-reflective screen to place in front of your monitor.

Scatter a couple of cushions too. Some people may like to use them but be afraid to ask for fear of refusal. A few decorative cushions around the office can look nice anyway.

Great Country Decorating Ideas

For those who live in the country decorating ideas are not hard to come by. Personally speaking, I think that a lot of my inspiration comes from the world around me. When I say that, I don’t mean that I use the most obvious aspects of the country around me, only that if you look hard enough you’ll always find a subtle mixture of country decorating ideas that you will be able to take into your own home decor.

Doing your home up with country decorating ideas is great but if you don’t make it blend in naturally with your surroundings your house will just become an eyesore intruding upon the glories of nature. Surely, you have looked at a house in the country and thought to yourself: how beautiful and serene it was, and how much you’d really like to live there?

Haven’t you ever asked yourself why this was so? Without a doubt, it was for the house’s simplicity and elegance, along with the fact that it blended in so well with its environment. If you live in the country, you’re probably unaware of what I’m talking about and you are wondering why I mention it.

Maybe you’ve lived in the country most of your life and you just don’t understand what is so wonderful about the old country decorating ideas and houses that blend in with nature. After all, a country house is just like any other house that you’d find anywhere else. Or so you would imagine.

Well, in my opinion, you’d be wrong on that count! Country homes are a sight for sore eyes for those people who live in a concrete hell. So, if you’re fortunate enough to live in the country savour the it.

With a home in the country decorating ideas should be coming into your head nineteen to the dozen and with only a little planning on your part, you can make your normal country house into a comfortable country retreat.

The only negative aspect I’ve noticed with this so far is the number of inspiration I receive from my environment. That might not sound like a bad thing, but believe me, there’s nothing worse than having country decorating ideas pouring into your mind with almost no let-up and not being able to put them all into practice.

However, when this flow starts, I just lie back and let it consume me. I’ve always found that there is no use fighting against the inevitable, although a little dreaming never did hurt anyone. If the ideas I’ve had are really good and they grip my attention, I write detailed notes about what I’d like to do.

So, no matter whether you want to alter your home into a country residence, or whether you just want to redecorate the home you already have with country decorating ideas, the inspiration should be easy to come across and just as easy to put into practice. A country home is the right place to be to relax from your stressful workday day.

Interior Design Ideas

Redecorating your house really isn’t that easy and it only becomes even less so when you are stumped for ideas. The only way to really get over this shortage of interior design ideas, is to sit down, put your feet up and have a cup of coffee.

I’m not kidding, there’s no better way of getting a new perspective on things than taking a break from what you are doing. In the first place, you become more relaxed, and in the second place a steaming cup of tea or coffee is always welcome.

Once that you’re resting comfortably and are suitably relaxed, close your eyes and picture the room that you want to redecorate. Even if you are redecorate more than one room, it’s always a good idea to start with one room first, working your way logically through to the next one and then the next one.

Before you begin your travel through the land of interior design ideas, get yourself a notebook and pencil so that you can jot down any good ideas you have before they are forgotten

So, just sit back and picture the room in your mind. Try and see it as you want it to look. And if that’s too hard, then first try to replace separate bits and pieces. This is always a good way to start. If you’ve still got a mental dearth of interior design ideas, then leaf through some interior design catalogues beforehand so that you have at least a working idea of what you can do to redecorate your room.

The interior design catalogues need not be anything more grand than your free local department store catalogue, turned to the home furnishing section. Then again, nowadays you also get specialist shops which deal solely with redecorating. If you have the time, a quick trip down to one of these might also help to end the lack of interior design ideas, and will possibly get you started again.

These stores will have decorated sets of several designs, giving you a good idea of what your room could look like if you buy those materials. However, if you’re going to one of those shops, expect to shell out some money as no matter how hard you try to keep a tight hand on your wallet, you’ll always find something you want to buy.

This is not necessarily a bad thing to do, but unless you watch out you could end up buying things you don’t need. And without a proper idea of what you want the room to look like, this can turn out disastrous. Not to worry though, if you keep your mental image in mind, you can go back home and get a start on redecorating your rooms the way you like.

Furthermore, now that you’ve managed to get at least some interior design ideas of what you want your rooms to look like, your whole redecorating project ought to be that much easier and that much more enjoyable.

Human Monitored Home And Business Alarms

Many Americans are just starting to realize that advanced security measures are not only for the very rich. You just cannot get too much security for yourself and your family or your employees. The problems in society are getting worse too, not better. The current recession is hitting hard and splitting society even more into the have and have-nots, the working and the not-working.

However, these days burglars do not seek out the very wealthy, because they have all the protection that money can buy. The people most likely to be robbed and burgled are the working middle classes. They get robbed when they are at work and the kids are at school or when they are sleeping in their beds.

This is why it is essential to have the best automated security you can afford taking care of your home and family twenty-four hours a day. But it is not only your home, your business and workers deserve security as well. How many gun-toting lunatics have shot their colleagues dead in the last few years?

Not many firms can afford security personnel but you could get the next best thing, which is electronically monitored surveillance. There are various types of system available and most are flexible enough to be adaptable to any building. You could then monitor the system yourself during working hours by having a screen in the office or your home and send the signal to a security firm at other times of the day, at weekends and at night.

If you adopt this kind of system, you will be placing your home or office in the top echelon of secured properties and professional burglars will realize it and stay away from you and yours. Most people resent the monitoring fees, but the system falls down, if no-one is watching the image relayed by the cameras. You could try to reduce this cost by monitoring the images yourself for part of the day and relaying the image to professionals when you are unavailable. You could also ask your insurance company for a discount and ask your accountant to put the expense down against your taxes.

The good thing about a monitored system is that you know that help is at hand twenty-four hours every day. You may be living alone or prone to fits or a heart attack. You could get almost instant help in these instances by pressing the panic alarm. These panic buttons can be placed at the front and back door, in every room in the house or you could have a radio button on a necklace around your neck. These systems are quite common and are used by many care centres for the elderly or the infirm.

You will probably have to do some arithmetic to work out whether you need or can afford a monitored home security system, but there is no doubt that it is the most secure system available. However, not all home security monitoring companies are the same, so it is worth checking up with friends or with the companies’ governing body or even the local council to see if they have a good reputation.

Decorating Teen Rooms

Teen rooms are the bane of mothers everywhere. It’s not even like when they were younger. In those days, if their rooms were messy, you could shout at them and get them to clean it up, and, if that didn’t work, you could go in and do it. But when it comes to teens and their rooms you’re dealing with a whole different kettle of fish.

True, you could go and ask them to tidy up their rooms. And yes, you could shout at them a little if you wanted to, and go and clean the room yourself. However, that’s when all hell breaks loose. Teen rooms are sacred places and not to be entered into lightly.

Woe betide the person who dares to move even one inch of that mess on the carpet. It was there for a good reason and you had absolutely no right to move it. At least, that will be the argument of most teens, and you being the patient, caring mother that you are, will just roll your eyes and tell them that the whole pizza and day-old shirt thing just don’t go well together and you were just rescuing them from the anger of the walking pizza slice.

Your teens will in turn roll their eyes and scream, not to exaggerate, it wasn’t about to grow legs and walk off on its own, and if it was then wouldn’t that make a great science project. So, you keep cleaning and they keep putting things back. And so ends the story, and you’re right back at square one.

Naturally, one way you could deal with this catastrophe is to redecorate it. Teen rooms might be sanctities for them, but even they would like it if you gave their rooms a fantastic makeover.

That’s not to say that the room will be any cleaner once you’ve finished and they’ve moved back in, but at least you’ll get to see the inside of the room long enough to tide you over for the next couple of years. That is unless you’re thinking of redecorating their rooms every year.

But now you come to your next problem. Since teens are notoriously different when it comes to their rooms. You might find that your teen rooms are decorated quite differently from what you expected and what you would have done first of all. This is where a comprise should be struck, if your teen wants black for his room, then say you want another colour too that will offset the black.

Be prepared to compromise a little on your ideas no matter how silly their ideas are. After all, they’re only a teen once and they will look back with horror on what bad taste they had.

As a parent it is your duty to give them these moments in their lives which they can look back on with due horror, and ban their kids from doing the same to their own teen rooms.

The Importance Of Home Security

People have always tried to protect themselves and their families, just like most animals do. In very early days, cavemen protected their caves by setting fires outside the opening to discourage interlopers and wild animals. Later on, man learned how to augment his security by training dogs to safeguard him and his family. Later still, houses and then doors were invented; bars and locks arrived soon after that.

However, until a few decades ago in the west, people lived in extended large families. A family could consist of six-to-ten children and the mother and the grandmother would often live there too. This made home security systems extraneous from the early 18th Century to the 1930′s, which were fairly peaceful times. After the Second World War, families were not so large and new families got their own house away from their parents.

Nowadays, both parents are likely to be working and the children are almost certainly at school. This means that many houses are left unoccupied during the day, making them easy plunder for burglars. In fact, the number of household burglaries has risen by almost 10% in the last five years according to American government figures. Furthermore, according to a survey, forty percent of home burglaries were carried out due to inappropriate locks and doors.

ANSI (American National Standard Institute) produced a standard for deadbolt locks for exterior doors which is very difficult to beat. If you are worried about your exterior doors, you should seek these ANSI deadbolts out, but be careful, there are many copies. However, regardless of the kind of lock, the quality of the door is just as crucial. Its thickness and composition can also be a deterrent. After all, why put an expensive deadbolt on a door made of cardboard?

There are about 14,000,000 home burglaries every year in the United States and many of them are preventable. The first stage that you should achieve in home security is well-built doors and sturdy locks. Deadbolts on exit doors is a good idea.

Once you have completed that, get some exterior security lighting that reacts to either motion or body heat. The former type are microwave and the latter passive infra red sensors. These sensors will also contain a daylight sensor so that they will only become active at night. The sensors will also save you money by activating the powerful halogen floodlights only when someone enters the scope of the sensor’s beam.

Once you have done that, you ought to think about a home security alarm system. This should include contact sensors on all exterior doors and windows, vibration sensors on all widows to alarm you in case of breakage and PIR or microwave motion sensors in the corridors and hallways.

Then, if you want to go even further in your home security system, you can fit surveillance cameras on each exterior wall of the house and maybe one in the interior too. You do not have to take all these precautionary measures at once, if you are short of cash, but they should be taken in that sequence.

Home Tinseltown Movie Theater

Everyone would agree that the cinema or movie theater is a good location to watch movies and get away from it all – that is the magic of a Tinseltown movie theater.

Surely, the reason for this is because you watch the movie on a extra-wide screen with quadraphonic sound that can easily make you be transported away by the storyline of the film

The high quality of the Tinseltown film and the real-life sound system are without doubt the most entertaining part of the cinema-going experience. It definitely is not being in the movie theater itself! They are often full of stalls vying for your money before you take your seat and full of irritating kids after you’ve sat down!

But, what if you brought this high-tech system home with you? And what if it worked out less costly too? Without doubt, this would definitely be something you would enjoy more. Just think about it for a minute – a real Tinseltown Movie Theater at home – in your home!

Until fairly recently, only a small number of American families had bought a Tinseltown movie theater to be used in their own homes. In recent years, however, a large percentage of American households are starting to become far less interested in travelling to watch Tinseltown movies in a movie theater.

Without doubt, this is due to the development of the home movie theater system.

A simple home movie theater is quite easy to install. All you need is a television with a screen that measures wider than 27 inches, a DVD player and three everyday speakers. And voila the basic components of a Tinseltown movie theater. This could be suppicient to give you the level of home movie entertainment that suits you.

But, I have no doubt that you would rather have the real feeling of sitting in a full-sized Tinseltown movie theater, but without the distractions or maybe it is you, who would like to sing along, shout out loud or otherwise get involved in the picture, but doesn’t like to upset the other viewers. Its possible, you know.

Any how, the reason why I am saying this is because there are other pieces of kit you might add in order to complete the home Tinseltown movie theater experience. A few additions, over time, say, which would ensure an authentic Tinseltown movie theater experience right in your very own living room.

For instance, you could supplement the above mentioned three vital pieces of equipment by putting in specialist home movie entertainment recliners a refrigerated drinks cabinet; a table for snacks; adjustable lighting on remote control; air conditioning or fans; an usherette with a torch – OK, maybe that’s going a little too far Nevertheless, everything is determined by the budget you set for your home Tinseltown movie theater. The size of the room is another consideration which determines how resplendent your home Tinseltown movie theater is.

A handy recommendation from home theater enthusiasts is that you need to find the correct size television set for your Tinseltown home movie theater. The right size does not necessarily mean the largest you can find in the store. The right size television depends on the place in your house where you have decided to set up the home movie theater. Big is not always the best choice for your home movie entertainment system. It is, nevertheless, recommended that the television set should not be smaller than 27 inches, because the picture on a smaller screen could be too inferior for a Tinseltown home movie theater. A reliable principle is that the seating should be roughly 5-8 times the diameter of the TV screen away for normal vision.

Another piece of advice is that you buy speakers that will give you high fidelity surround sound from a high quality make of speakers. Furthermore, you need to make certain that if the speakers you bought do not give enough surround sound, then you are able to swap them. There are speakers that sound fabulous in the store but when you put them in a room, they sound inadequate. If the store allows returns, then that is all is well and good.

Furthermore, you may need to choose a DVD player. Again, quality counts. It is a belief of many home theater experts that all DVD players deliver clear and crisp images. Although some DVD players guarantee a flicker-free picture, almost all DVD players provide this feature, so I shouldn’t be too much swayed by this assertion.

Therefore, size is important, in this case. Knowing what the size of the location is where you will set up your home Tinseltown movie theater, will be the basis of how big the TV has to be. The size of the room is also the basis for considering the number of speakers. If the location is of a size, you may need more than the basic three speakers. The addition of a subwoofer can go a long way too, to achieve a good surround sound if your home Tinseltown movie theater is situated in a larger room again.

All of these factors will afford you such a home Tinseltown movie theater experience as, not long ago, only a few could experience. A professional home movie theater expert may be a big help in ensuring you have the best home Tinseltown movie theater installation to give you the best possible home movie theater experience right there in your very own home.

Decorating Children’s Rooms

If you’re unhappy with the way your home looks, the best thing you can do is redecorate it. Not necessarily all at once of course, as this will lead to headache upon headache and is almost guaranteed to bring stress into your life when you really didn’t need it. However if you start one room at a time, your redecorating project will become that much easier and more manageable.

The next stage is to decide which room you want to decorated first. It’s not always an easy decision to make, but it must be done nevertheless. How about starting by decorating the kids’ rooms first as this will lead to a general mood of happiness in them and can even help you in the long term too.

Decorating kids rooms can be an enjoyable way to pass your time and also gives you the opportunity to bond with your kids as well. There’s no better way to get close to your kids than by getting down to their level and talking about the things that appeal to them. Decorating their rooms might be the perfect way to do that.

But where do you start? If you’ve more than one kid you need to be careful about whose room you’re going to decorate first, as things can get tense. Decorating kids rooms can be fraught with tension if you don’t handle it delicately, so I’ve found that the best way to deal with it is to toss a coin in the air and have the kids call out heads or tails.

This method might not work however if you’ve got more than two kids or more than two rooms to decorate. In which case I’d suggest you just wade in and begin the whole decorating process at once instead of tackling it room by room.

But at least you’re not doing the whole house and this way you promote happier feelings amongst the children with no-one feeling that they have been slighted by having their room decorated last. What tends to happen when you’re decorating the rooms with the kids’ help though is that more paint gets splashed everywhere but where it should be. But then that was part of the reason you opted to start decorating the kids rooms and perhaps even their play areas first, wasn’t it.

You’ll be much happier for at least starting on your decorating project and your kids will be happier for having their rooms redecorated too, not to mention the sheer pleasure you’ll be enjoying while you’re busy doing all this. Of course, This isn’t to say, that decorating kids rooms isn’t completely hassle or stress free.

On the contrary, you’ll probably get a shedload more stress by the time you’ve finished, but at least you’ll have had the satisfaction of getting closer to your children and seeing their rooms clean and tidy for at least one day before the kids move back into them again.

Faux Surface Finishes – Residential Design with Textured Color

Textured paint and also imitation wall coatings have grown to be so much more common recently than at almost every other time in modern record. reason behind this…is simply because a great number of home improvement retailers are providing instructional classes for individuals who are prepared to pay the cost of the specialty paint.

surface finishes may very well be utilized to produce the optical illusion of everything from plaster or large rock to leather and a number of amazing materials in between. Specialized paint contractors are most effective at utilizing these approaches, and it is essential to be absolutely consistent as the paint is applied all-around a place in your home. However, in the event that the home owner is actually inclined to master the suitable skills, this can easily get carried out as a result of the actual owner doing the task. Actually natural stone can be copied utilizing the right painting approaches.

Some committed homeowners choose to take on this type of painting in every room in the house. Although it may well seem to be a good idea in principle there are some drawbacks to using this method as well.

Faux coatings are dependent on taste, plus some house designs go better with more of it incorporated throughout the house.

Some houses are simply intended to be embellished with a faux finish from one end of the house to the other. No matter what you do to home like this, it will look great.

Some homes just don’t go very well with faux finishes. It is just the way they’re laid out, the accessories, and the feel of the home in general. It is often the best idea to consult with a home interior decorator when making decisions on faux finishes. You don’t want to be asking, “Why did I do that faux for?” (tongue twister).

Just step back and take a look at your home. It will tell you exactly what you need to do if you open your mind up to these types of creative elements. It is essential to think in terms of blending in addition to contrast when considering how it all fits together into the artistic scheme of your ideas when undertaking interior decoration making use of faux finishes.

There are a lot of resources on the internet about how to achieve different styles of faux paint finishes in your home. Just take the time to learn on a smaller area first that is not too visible. To be sure that it is done right, however, it is best to get a professional painter who’s trained to do this type of work.

Kitchen Decorating

It’s a Saturday morning and you’re sitting there waiting for your coffee machine to stop its cycle, so you can have that vital early morning cup of coffee. Idly, you look around your kitchen and notice a spot of paint missing from the corner of the door. It had happened years ago but you never really took any notice of it before now.

You continue to allow your gaze to stray and your eye gets caught by a patch of mildew growing under the sink, then you notice the ugly brown colour your ceiling has turned just above where the cooker is.

The paint is slightly off colour, and the only papered wall is starting to look a bit old-fashioned and faded. You take a fortifying sip of your now-ready coffee and decide that a little bit of kitchen decorating is needed.

How do you go about it though? And how soon can you get into it? Now that you’ve finally noticed all the little bits and pieces of decay that you were quite successfully ignoring up until that moment, you can’t wait to get started on your little kitchen decorating project.

However, that is where the crunch comes. Just how small do you want to keep your kitchen decorating plans? Can you get away with just sloshing a fresh coat of paint on everything or will you need to go to the trouble of removing the wallpaper off the wall, and finding out what had caused that mildew stain.

Naturally enough, it all depends on you and your budget, but if you can spare the time, energy and money, you’ll probably do better, in the long run. to get rid of all your kitchen decorating problems at once. That would include stripping the wallpaper, replacing any carpeting or rugs that you might have, and perhaps even sanding down your wooden floors if you have those. If you’re going to do a complete job of kitchen decorating however then you’ll also need that all important final coat of fresh paint to brighten up your kitchen.

You may also want to consider replacing those tatty old curtains as they’re also probably looking distinctly old by now. So, go ahead and splash out on your kitchen decorating project and replace the curtains and while you’re about it, you should think of investing in a new set of tea towels as well. It won’t hurt to go all out while you can.

And when you’re finally done, you can sit back and enjoy your new kitchen and remember that weekend morning that started it all off. You’ll have no regrets whatsoever, since your kitchen decorating project has provided you with a better kitchen than you ever hoped for.

A feeling of contentment rushes through you as you bring your new coffee mug to your lips. Life just doesn’t get any better than when you’re enjoying the fruits of your efforts and labour.

Ideas For Interior Painting

Redecorating or renovating your house is never easy, and it gets especially harder and more tedious when you need to paint as well. Sloshing on one coat of paint after another can be draining if you’re going it alone and still have the whole house to consider.

And let’s not even start talking about the ceilings! But even if you do stick to the same old staid exterior paint job, it doesn’t need to be the same for the interior – you could always try some wild and wonderful interior painting ideas. If nothing else you’ll be guaranteed a reaction from all who enter your home.

By reducing the exterior painting plans to the necessary minimum, you can spend more time and creativity to the inside. You can let your imagination run wild with all those interior painting ideas you always wanted to implement but never got around to. And, as they say, there’s no time like the present, and be honest, when are you going to get round to redecorating your house again?

However, don’t be alarmed! When I’m talking about flamboyant interior painting ideas, I’m not saying that you should do something that resembles modern art paintings, no, I’m talking about something more along the lines of a paint job that reflects your personality.

So your interior painting ideas need not be anything bolder than a splash of vibrant colour on one wall, surrounded by soothing colours on the other walls. This works very well in any house and the vibrant colour that you pick out can be either soothing or primal, depending on what you want to reveal of yourself. You could, of course, always go to extremes and paint all the walls a bright vibrant shade or even mix and match different shades on different walls.

If you’re doing this, then you may want to think about the effect you’ll create and whether you can actually live with the colour scheme for very long. Crazy and inspired interior painting ideas are all very well and good, but you should always think about whether you’re going to be able to bear the sight of your newly panted walls or not after a month or so. If you are going to have to repaint everything again, it sort of defeats the purpose.

This doesn’t mean that you should restrict your creative urges or stifle your interior painting ideas. All it means is that some of your bolder ideas, should maybe be the subject of a small test-run somewhere else.

Don’t think of redecorating your home as something that you have to do. If you want to, you could always think of yourself as Michelangelo or Da Vinci or any of those great artists and paint a stunning mural. The only necessity is that you let your great interior painting ideas become reality and that you have loads of fun while you’re doing it.

Ideas for Wall Painting

So, here you are then, in your new house! Its a bit of a mess though because the previous owner was in a rush to sell and had been in the middle of redecorating. But, you don’t really mind that though, since it gives you the perfect opportunity to do your house up exactly the way you want it.

However, now you need to decide where everything goes and what colours will suit which rooms, but you don’t have any wall painting ideas.

So, you eagerly look through your new keys and wander through your new home. The minute you step in through a door ideas assail you. That huge vase you bought last year ago would look great in the corner, and you’re pretty sure that your existing sofa set will fit in this other room. And you know that an antique mirror table would look stunning in the hallway. The only thing you really get stuck on though are wall painting ideas.

You don’t want to just splash on a coat of neutral coloured paint and be done with it. What you want is a masterpiece, something that you can look on with pride every time you see it. Naturally, you should be able to keep looking at it with pleasure for some time to come as well, so it shouldn’t be too severe.

But where do you get good wall painting ideas from, and how can you go about getting the wall painting actually done? There are a few ways to go about this, the easiest of which being if you have an artistic flair, so that you could get your wall painting ideas out of your head, so to speak and paint the walls as you see fit. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t very artistic and we are loathe to pick up a brush or roller and apply the first coat of paint without supervision. In this scenario then, you will need some assistance.

You could begin by hiring a professional decorator to help you to decide which styles would look suit your home or you could sit down and watch some DIY TV programs, in which they show some pretty stylish ideas on what to do when re-decorating a house and will even give you some stylish wall painting ideas.

If neither of these options is viable for you though, you could just try going down to your local hardware shop with fabric swatches and colour sheets of your most prominent pieces of furniture and enlist their help on stylish wall decorating ideas.

You may come up with a hodge-podge of wall painting ideas with this last suggestion, but I found that it was the one that worked best for me and now I’m very proud of my ‘personalized’ house, because it reflects who I am just perfectly.

Wireless Home Security System

Nowadays a house or even an apartment is not thought of as complete without an adequate home security systems Not having one often has an effect on the market price of the property too – downwards if your home security system is found wanting or even non existent. People are just too worried about the rising levels of crime. One of the problems for home owners is that stores and other businesses have got their act together and are very well protected in general. This has forced the average burglar too turn his attention to houses.

The number of burglaries has risen by almost 10% over the last five years because of this fact so now every household should be considering upgrading, replacing or fitting a new home security system. It is a pity that the situation has come to this, but it is so. I myself was beaten in my home by burglars ten years ago. They tied me up and threatened me with a knife. They also threatened to skin my dog in front of me. It was not pleasant.

Modern technology makes it easy to fit a very good home security system, without having to spend a great deal of money. Often when you have work done on your home or your car, the labour element of the cost is more than that of the parts you wanted. It can be the same with the installation of a home security system. However, a wireless home security system can be fitted by any reasonably capable person, which allows you to save money or just get a better system.

If you can run a wire from a fuse box and climb a ladder you can fit a home security system yourself. With older wired systems, it was tricky to hide the wires that ran to the sensors. You had to insert them behind coving and skirting boards an chase them into the plaster. It is a lot of work to do it correctly, but it is simpler with a wireless system.

If you go wireless, the only thing you will have to do or have done is wire the central control box directly to the fuse box and wire up the external siren too. After that you can just fix the proper sensors in the proper places and you are done. All of this is explained in the instructions, which I suggest you scan while you are in the shop in case they are in badly translated Chinese.

You can take the basic home security system as far as you like. Modern wireless technology permits many extras and varieties. A basic system would consist of the control box, the external siren and all the sensors, but you ought to add outside security lights to this as a necessity. They can be wirelessly linked to the control box too.

Then you could add surveillance cameras and a speaker-phone on the front door. All of these things can relay information to your control box and from there to a PC, if required. The Internet can be used as an interface to control your system as well, if you want – even from work or while on holiday!

A wireless home security system is a very adaptable piece of equipment, but is not that complicated to fit, go to the mall as soon as you have time to get some leaflets.

It’s probably a safe bet to assume that by that time, you would have made up your mind whether you wanted to continue looking for interior design jobs or not.

If you want, you also have the choice of attending an interior design college or taking some interior design courses to further your interior design knowledge. Security Bars: Are They Worth The Risks?

There are many things that families and businesses do in order to secure their property. One measure that is often taken in the name of security is the addition of security bars to doors and windows. Despite the inherent benefits of securing property, these bars often present risks of endangering the people inside.

One thing remains accurate, most burglars will keep moving rather than try entering into a home that has security bars on doors and windows. Home protection is the only security that these bars supply however for many, the risks involved in having these bars on windows is not worth the small degree of security that is provided. In other words, the good of these bars is greatly outweighed by the negatives.

A lot of people do not purchase new security bars but rather rely on the same bars that have covered the windows of the home or business for many years. Some of these are rusted and virtually impossible to take away. In emergency situations, every second matters and these bars can be the very things that trap people inside a burning or flooding structure.

Security bars are no longer the cheap alternative to traditional alarm systems and monitoring services that they were touted to be in the past. In fact, more often than not the pose a greater risk than they are a benefit to business and homeowners. Many larger businesses offer free fitting of alarm systems and alarms as well as monthly monitoring services at reasonable rates. More significantly not only are these monitoring services available for breaks-in, but also for fire and smoke as well as panic button services.

Security bars may have had a time and place, but they have been replaced by something that is much more effectual at deterring criminals as well as something that offers a greater degree of protection for the most precious assets of any home or business – the people inside. The costs concerned in monthly monitoring seem great but most will find that the value this service provides if and when it is ever called upon is well worth every penny.

Options to burglar bars that are not terribly expensive include planting thorny bushes below windows and keeping them trimmed back just enough that they do not block a view of the windows. Most burglars do not want a difficult entry point and they certainly do not want to be wounded during the process by prickly plants. Lighting is another option that is essentially less expensive than it would be to install burglar bars. Intruders do not want to be seen. If the area surrounding your home and business is well lit, it will serve as a deterrent. Investigate options such as this before resorting to security bars.

To answer the question of whether or not security bars are worth the risks for home or business protection the answer would be a loud “No!”. There are other preventative measures that can be taken in order to deter intruders that present far less risk to family members and employees. These alternatives should be implemented rather than those that pose further risks to those you are trying to look after.

Safes At Home And In Business

These days information is one of the most valuable commodities. Personal information such as your social security number, tax identification numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, passwords and PIN’s are precious assets and must be highly guarded, because if this information gets into the wrong hands, thieves could cause havoc in your financial and personal life.

Some companies, especially those that have high and rapid employee turnover rates are often targeted specifically for their employee details. This information in the right hands is worth far more than the one-off theft of money or merchandise and is much more tough to trace.

One way that most companies and some homes are protecting this valuable information is by buying large safes in which to store the information that they have on paper and disk. Some businesses go one step further however and buy hidden or disguised safes. This adds still another layer of protection and security for employees who may be concerned about identity theft.

When it comes to security for homes, safes offer a great means to safeguard not only important papers but also jewelry, letters and gold. Another great thing about safes for protecting valuables in the home is that most safes are also virtually fire proof. This means that the valuables held in the safe are likely to survive in the event that a fire damages your home. Not only will a safe offer the security of ‘safe guarding” your possessions but also your peace of mind by allowing you to know that your important documents and information (including insurance papers) are kept safe from prying eyes.

Some safe manufacturers concentrate in making safes discreet so that the casual observer would not realize that you had a safe in your home at all. In fact, a professional installer can make them almost completely unnoticeable. This can be done so well that not even your friends and family would know.

Other types of safes that offer security to your home and/or business, depending on what kind of business you are in, of course are gun safes. Quite frankly, having guns out in the open and freely accessible to anyone who walks in the door is not only foolish but should be against the law too. It is wise, for those who own guns to have a gun safe in which to store those weapons. Ammunition should be stored elsewhere. Guns do not provide sufficient defense for homes or business. In many cases, those who attempt to use their guns for home security, are only managing to provide another weapon to the intruder rather than managing to safeguard their belongings or protect their families.

Safes offer good protection and security for homes and businesses when properly used and guarded. Safes offer little protection however if everyone and their brother knows the location and/or the combination to the safe. You should keep that information closely guarded in order to receive the maximum security that owning a safe can provide.

Decorating Ideas for Inside the Home

The bleak winter is getting to you and you’re mooching around trying to decide what to do with yourself. You’re snowbound and the only thing that you can think of doing is sitting in front of your fire, drinking hot chocolate and staring broodingly out of the window. The only problem with that is that you’ve already been doing just that for days now and you’ve have had enough of fires, hot chocolate and mooching.

Now you’re just about ready to do something different, so, you turn to the only comfort you have and switch on the TV. You’re instantly enthralled as you come across one of those many shows about how you can do up your home. You find yourself flooded with decorating ideas, both interior decor and exterior decor ideas.

So, you finally find yourself entranced by a program that you would have dismissed earlier and jump out of your seat to fetch a pencil and notebook to note down all those fantastic ideas. In no time at all, you’ve run out of pages in your notebook and have to leave your warm armchair to go get another one.

And before you get back to your armchair, you’ve made a quick detour around your house and have spotted many of the things that you’ve spent years trying not to see – the cracks in the bedroom walls, the growing patch of mildew in the bathroom, the paint chipping off many of the skirtings.

The list is never ending and could go on for many pages. So you dutifully sit down, and alongside your notes on various decorating ideas on interior design and general refurbishing, you meticulously take down all the little things that need fixing, replacing or refitting.

The list fills even your second notebook but you decide to finish there, because it’s giving you writer’s cramp, and besides you already have all the relevant facts to hand, so now you have to set about sorting them into directions that you can easily carry out.

And that is not an easy job, when your decorating ideas, interior designs and room-by-room list of snags and flaws is all mixed up in one messy pile. So, you turn to the tried and tested, ancient solution of sitting in the middle of the floor surrounded by your notes in an attempt at finding some logical order for you to follow later.

When you eventually reach that sublime state of order, you lay back with a tired but satisfied countenance. The knowledge that you’ll now have enough decorating ideas and interior design plans and less spare time on your hands during those long hard months of winter, sends a rush of contentment flowing right through you. After all, there’s nothing like a job well done and the knowledge that next spring, your home will look nothing like its former shabby self.

Home Security – 10 Tips To Protect Yourself And Your Family

When people think of home security, they are inclined to think of electronic surveillance systems. However, there are other methods to protect yourself and your family from harm and burglars. I will give you my top ten tips for home security.

1] Windows are actually the key to home security. Window-stays become loose or sloppy as they become older and sometimes you can get a window-stay to jump off its peg by thumping the outside window frame. Fit window stay locks

2] Doors must be robust, well-hung on strong hinges and have secure locks. Fit deadlocks, especially on exterior doors.

3] Spare keys should not be secreted near the door under a mat, a flower pot or a stone. If you want to leave a key with a neighbour, select the neighbour cautiously. Be wary of those with teenage kids, their friends may become aware that the spare key in the fruit bowl is to your house.

4] Tools that can help a burglar must be locked away. Keep your shed and garage doors locked and if you have a ladder, chain and lock it to a fixed point like a wall.

5] Dogs are useful for home security, but they cannot be relied on. Some thieves will poison a dog to get in. If you leave your dog in the house, get a box to fit inside your door to collect whatever comes in, lock the letter box closed or seal it off for good. If you leave the dog in the garden, try to get a neighbour to check up on it from time to time.

6] Plants and bushes should not be permitted to grow big enough to block anyone’s view of windows and doors. Passers-by and ‘nosy neighbours’ are a big deterrent to thieves, but if no one can see a ground floor widow, the burglar can gain access unobserved. if you do want bushes under your windows, make them tough, thorny ones.

7] Boundary walls or fences are your first line of protection. They can be a good disincentive, if you get the style right. Some people embed broken glass into the top of the wall, but this may be illegal and can hurt unsuspecting cats. The best thing to do is nail carpet-gripper just below the top, inside lip of the wall. Anyone putting their hands over the wall to pull themselves up will get a very horrible shock and leave DNA.

8] Valuables should not be put on show near windows. Your house is your home not a presentation case. Put your TV, DVD player and video recorder in a cabinet, maybe get a safe for your valuables but conceal that too.

9] External lighting is a key part of night-time security. Get exterior lights that are activated by motion (microwave) or heat (passive infra red), put at least one on each outside wall of your house.

10] Electronic surveillance systems are a necessity these days. You do not need cameras, but they are helpful for identifying intruders. Your home security system can be wired or wireless, monitored or not.

These top ten home security tips should prevent your home from becoming an easy target for burglars.

Home Security Tips – How To Make Your Home Unappealing To Burglars

These days everybody is concerned about the security of their homes and justly so! According to official American government statistics, the number of house burglaries has increased by nearly ten percent in the last five years to about fourteen million per annum.

That is a lot of homes. I was burgled ten years ago and I have studied and done my best to never be one of those statistics again. In this piece, I will pass on some of my home security tips on how to make your home unappealing to thieves.

The first thing to think about is whether you have anything in your garden, shed or garage that will help a thief get into your house. Things like ladders, crow-bars, screwdrivers, sledge hammers. If you do, then lock them away. Keep the shed and garage doors locked at all times. If you have a ladder that will not fit in the shed or garage, chain and padlock it to a brick wall, so that nobody can use it to get in.

Never believe that your home is less at risk just because you or someone else is inside it. Some thieves are crazy and it is simpler to ask someone where the money is than to try to find it yourself. It is easier to demand the keys to the safe than to pick the lock. I know. thieves came into my house while I was at work. They saw my safe, but could not get into it, so they came back three nights later when I was at home. It was truly not pleasant.

Do not put a spare front or back door key under the mat, a flower vase or near-by rock. Burglars expect people to do that and it is the first place they look. If you are thinking about leaving a key with a neighbour, choose your neighbour well. In fact choose the family well. Does the family have teenage kids? If so, could their friends find out that that ‘spare key’ is to your home? Do you trust all the friends of that neighbour’s children? Do you even know them?

Beware of people you do not know. I do not mean be fearful, but someone asking to make an urgent call because of a ‘breakdown’, could be casing your house or sizing you up. If you want to help, make the call for them or direct them to the nearest public telephone booth or a shop.

Keep all your doors and windows locked. If reasonable locked shut, when you are away from the house, but you can get window-stay locks so that you can lock a fanlight window ajar a few inches too. This is very helpful in the summer or if you have animals. Lock upstairs windows too – your neighbour may have a loose ladder that a thief can use.

Do not display your valuables needlessly. Video recorders, DVD players and even the TV can be put in cabinets. Jewellery should be put in a box or a safe. Cash likewise. Your house is a home, not a presentation case to would be thieves.

My last home security tip to make your home unappealing to thieves is to stay alert and to warn your neighbours of any slip-ups they are making too. If you can elevate the general awareness of crime in the people around you, everyone will be a lot safer.

Exterior Security Lighting

It is entirely natural that we all want to keep our homes and businesses safe and well protected, but there are many ways in which this can be accomplished. The cheapest and most cost effective way is exterior security lighting

It truly is a no brainer, poor lighting can make a home or business a much more appealing target than the house next door because it has less satisfactory exterior security lighting. Burglars look for dimly lit points of entry into premises that appear to contain riches, so when you are designing the security system for your home or business you should try to think like a thief.

Look at your buildings from the outside, or look at someone else’s first and ask yourself, how you would get in there if you had to. Pretend that you forgot your keys or that there is a crucial problem in your property. How would you get in? This is where chummy gets in and you must find out how to obstruct his every move.

Ten years ago, I lived in a bungalow on my own with my small, knee-high dog and armed robbers attacked me in my home, despite the fact that I had a decent home security system. Do not let it happen to you. My blunder was that I had insufficient exterior security lighting.

They had cut my phone line during the day and because I used a cell phone for most of my calls, I did not notice. Also my dog was sick, but I did not appreciate that she had been poisoned too. At eleven o’clock at night there was a ring on the front door and I opened it, thinking that it was a neighbour in trouble.

A man charged in and over-powered me and the rest was not nice. However, the whole regrettable issue could have been avoided, if I had thought like them..

I was in the habit of pulling the curtains when I got home, so I did not notice that they had taken the lamps from my exterior security lighting too.

My advice is to check your exterior security lighting every night when you get home and keep the bushes or shrubs cut low around your front and back doors. Make sure that your exterior security lighting is working every evening and make sure that you can see who is ringing your door bell.

Provide your garden and your doors with lots of light. Let them be on motion sensors and check who is at your door from a side window that looks out onto the front door. I had a gorgeous frosted glass pane in my front door, but that is no use. I could not recognize anyone through it.

Get a panic button fitted by your doors, a big one, so that if you are surprised you can lash out and still hit it and above all make your next door neighbours aware that if your external siren sounds, that you are in danger and that you need assistance immediately. If you are not in trouble, you can always say sorry later.

Garden Security Lighting

One of the most basic steps you can take when building your home security system, is the setting up of garden security lighting. Garden security lighting is also one of the most effective ways of discouraging criminals and it is one of the cheapest techniques too. All in all the installation of garden security lighting is the most effective and cost-effective method of home security

Other outdoor security gadgets such as security cameras are much more expensive and only serve one purpose, that is the security of your home. On the other hand, garden security lighting can be used to supply a welcoming light to guide the way to your front door to your visitors or to light up your backyard if you want to sit outside or admire a particularly beautiful group of flowers. They are also good for illuminating a fountain on a pond.

Adding motion sensor lighting controls to your garden security lighting also increases its effectiveness. The passive infra red motion sensors will pick up body heat automatically and switch the light on framing the moving object in a powerful beam. Microwave sensors provide a similar function but work on motion. They extend the length of time the bulb will last and reduce electrical use, while making sure you get light when you need it.

However, if you sit behind closed curtains in your home at night, you may not see the warning of the lights coming on. Therefore, some of these garden security lighting systems have a built-in bell or buzzer which makes a sound when the light comes on. You can also have them send a signal to your main indoor alarm system control box, which will beep and let you know where the light is that was triggered (front, rear or side of the house).

Garden security lighting can also be solar powered. This makes them slightly more expensive to purchase but very much cheaper to install and to run. Some of these lights are permanently fixed to the house’s fascia boards while others are just pressed into the ground. This latter sort are ideal for garden parties that go on into the night, as long as you remember to put them back where they belong before going in.

It is a good idea to aim the motion sensors of the lights some four feet above ground level or they will be switched on by every cat that comes over your wall in the middle of the night. Likewise, you can turn down the sensitivity of the PIR or microwave sensors so that the sensors do not pick up birds like pigeons.

The lights have daylight sensors on them too so that the motion sensors only activate the light at night. Some of these sensors will still register movement in the daytime and report it back to the main unit if you want that.

So, all in all, there are plenty of different options when you are considering home security, but garden security lighting has to come at the top of your list, if you want an effective, reassuring home security system.

Panic Alarms For Home And Business Alarm Systems

In all probability, every home and every business would benefit from the protection of a panic alarm. Breaks-in are common enough, but with people living longer the probability of stroke or heart attack have risen too. If you were living alone it would be dreadful to be lying on the ground incapacitated for hours. Panic alarms are the solution. They can be placed in a handy location or worn around your neck.

These are not the sort of personal alarms that emit a high pitched whistle or siren sound. Those alarms are meant to deter criminals on the street or to draw attention to the user. No, I mean a device that starts off your home security system. it does not create a noise of its own, but communicates with the main security control box by some sort of radio signal.

Some of these panic alarms do not activate the main security siren, but instead send a message to a monitoring security company. These so-called silent panic alarms are most often used in banks, firearms shops and places that handle lots of ready money. However, any business could use a silent panic alarm. Household alarm systems usually activate the external siren in order to alert your neighbours that you are having problems.

Panic buttons are especially helpful to the elderly or and infirm. Sometimes, people fall and cannot get up. You could also have a heart attack or stroke and not be able to make it to the phone. A panic button on a card around your neck would solve this problem. Some of these panic buttons are monitored too and others even have a microphone and speaker so that you can speak to an operator and explain your situation.

Some of these panic buttons have a keypad so that you can send codes to the operator. Other means have been built into watches and brooches in order to make them easier to carry. If you wear your panic alarm, it is much less easy to forget to take it with you when you go upstairs or into the garden.

If you can afford security, you really ought to have a system, as good as you can afford, installed into your home and business. A panic alarm is a useful extra item for home and office use too, but it is especially comforting to the elderly. Many older people are frightened of falling when they are in the house alone and fear of burglars or worse is a constant worry. A panic alarm linked to the main home siren is also a reassurance to women living alone.

If you do get a home security alarm with a panic button, make certain that you keep a spare battery near at hand and check that the battery in the equipment has not become depleted. You should also warn the neighbours you get on best with that you have a home security system and that they should come to your assistance or phone the police, if they hear your home security siren and see the flashing light.

Issues Of Home Security

Home security is a mammoth issue, but this is nothing new – it always has been an issue for parents and home owners. The problem is that family structure has altered. Not so long ago, people had much larger families and mothers or grandmothers were at home to look after the kids. With six, eight or even ten kids in a family, the house was never empty so burglars did not have a lot of opportunity. There was more social cohesion too, so criminals were loath to steal from their neighbours. So they attacked shops instead.

However, shops and other businesses started using electronic burglar alarms as the prices fell. These security units were so effective that burglars turned to stealing from people’s homes, which is made easier by the fact that the kids are in school and the parents are at work all day. American federal statistics indicate that domestic burglaries are up nearly ten percent since 2004. So, what can you do to put off a burglar?

If your residence is left unoccupied for a large part of the day because your children are at school, nursery or a baby-sitters’ and you are at work, consider getting some home help or joining a neighbourhood watch scheme. If you had a cleaner coming and going, it would afford some activity to discourage thieves.

Becoming a member of a neighbourhood watch would convey to your neighbours that you are worried about security and they will keep an eye on your home while you are out. Get your self a dog too, although be conscious that they can be easily poisoned, if the crook has access to them..

Fit an electronic surveillance system. This could be a monitored or tape set-up. Monitored is the best. An added bonus to a surveillance set-up is that you can be certain what your baby sitter gets up to while you are out too. You can turn it off when you yourself are at home or just leave the outside cameras on.

Another additional benefit with a home security system is that you can get a panic button linked to the system’s main external siren and strobe light. If you are attacked or worried, you can trigger the alarm by pushing a button on a device that you can wear around your neck. They can also be built into watches and brooches. These personal panic buttons are a good idea for the elderly and single women offering peace of mind to those living alone.

A monitored surveillance system will also warn you if your house catches fire while you are asleep or out or if someone is mooching around your garden. Often the operator of the system will phone the emergency services too after they have alerted you.

A good surveillance system can be used as a bargaining chip with your insurance broker to obtain some hefty discounts on your premium. If you have a small business that you operate from home, you may be able to off-set some or all of the overheads against your business too and a good home surveillance system can boost the selling price of your house, because it makes it that one step more comprehensive, like having uPVC doors and windows and a wooden deck.

How To Protect Your Home And Family

Everybody worries about the security of their homes and families. The question is: how can you make your home secure without turning it into Fort Knox? The sad fact is that, if someone is resolute to get into your home, they can and will. Ten years ago, my home was ‘secure’, but I was tricked into opening the door and I let my attackers in. No home security system can safeguard against situation like that.

Burglars look for homes that seem vulnerable. Most crooks are opportunistic. In other words, if they see an open door or window or if it is evident that no one is at home and if there is no obvious security, then it is worth them trying to get in. Open gates are also an invitation. So are valuable possessions put on show in windows.

It only takes minutes to steal something, you would be astonished. I let two armed robbers into my house and they timed 15 minutes to take everything of value in my house and then a car stopped outside to pick them up. It was night time and I was tied up. It could have been a taxi, which would not have aroused my neighbours’ suspicion.

It is important to show people (opportunistic thieves) that you have a home security system of some type. If you cannot afford a proper, working alarm system, get a dummy siren box with a flashing light. It is not as good as a real system, but it would take a brave or desolate burglar to find out, which means that you cannot tell anyone at all, in case it gets out.

A home security system is well-worth the money you will spend on it. The anxiety of being burgled or even held up, like I was, will make you wish that you were more security conscious. But it does not stop when the burglars go away. Then the police come and I spent from midnight until 4AM at the police station. I had to go back at least a dozen times after that. My insurance company had dozens of queries and it took four months to get a payout.

I felt certain that the burglars knew me, and I felt threatened everywhere I went for months. I could not stop glaring into people’s eyes to see if I could recognize my intruders’ (they had masks on, but I saw one man’s eyes). My life has altered radically. I even moved out of my house the next day and never went back again.

As I said earlier, I had a decent system in place, but I had turned it off as soon as I got home and opened the front door to my intruders. My suggestion is to get a wired or wireless home security system and, if you can afford it, get a monitored home security system with at least one surveillance camera, but preferably one on each external wall and one inside in the hall.

Get contact sensors for all external doors and vibration sensors for every windows. Put a personal panic button by all external doors and have garden lights that are switched on by motion or body heat outside. Keep your system switched on and be very wary of who you open the door to.

South-Western Home Decor

So what exactly is southwestern home decor and how can you introduce it into your own home? Well, to start with southwestern home decor reflects the southwest and all its most famous traits. Southwestern home decor uses colourful throw rugs, gorgeous wall hangings, and if you look hard enough, you can even find great kitchen accessories as well.

If you’re thinking about bringing southwestern home decor into your home, first of all, you need to determine whether it will fit in with your existing decor or whether it will clash horribly. Almost all southwestern home decor involves bright, eye catching colours and stunning designs and motifs.

So, if your existing furniture would clash with any of these southwestern pieces, you can do one of two things. Firstly, you could always just throw out all your old furniture and replace them with fantastic pieces of southwestern home decor. Or you could just buy one or two pieces of the southwestern home decor range and match them carefully with your existing knick-knacks.

Personally speaking, I would rather replace everything I have since there’s some wear, but in reality that’s just not possible. For one thing it would just be too expensive, and for another I would rather not have to listen to a lecture from my mother about extravagance. I’ve found out that you can get away from from your friends but not from your mother!

Besides, I’m also a little relieved that I didn’t give into my first impulse and renovate all in a southwestern home decor style. Granted that it does look really nice, but sometimes I also like the peace and quiet that some of my other pieces of furniture bring about in me. Therefore, I have now come up with the ideal solution and have instead resorted to buying one-off pieces that catch my attention and sprinkling my home with those instead.

And I must admit that its made quite a difference to the appearance of my whole home. Lush and rich pieces of the more traditional furniture now rest quite comfortably with the more flamboyant and stunning designs of my southwestern home decor. I’ve even got hold of a great throw rug for my bathroom floor along with a beautiful set of bathing towels. My kitchen has a new set of southwestern motifs, and my foyer has the most amazing lampshade and statue in prominent view.

Although all of this might sound a bit much, I’ve found that this is the easiest way to bring the glories of southwestern home decor into your home, without going all out and replacing your whole house with southwestern decor and motifs.

After all, you only want to bring a splash of southwestern decor to your home, not the whole thing. Oh, and did I forget to mention the beautiful tapestry I bought the other day? It’s just perfect.

How to Use Lighting to Stunning Effect.

When you are considering the interior design of a dwelling or room, lighting is most likely the most important aspect of the changes to the interior decoration. After all, it is the element that generates the mood of the room. You can create moods from intimacy to austere clinicism just by the power of your light bulb or turning a dimmer switch.

However, if you want to be sure that the effect of the lighting is the one you are looking for, it is important that you be acquainted with the four main kinds of lighting.

Ambient illumination: This is the general lighting for the whole room. In nearly all rooms it is the usual light in the centre of the ceiling be it a fluorescent tube or an incandescent bulb. It is recommended that you use one or more dimmers in order to enjoy more flexibility in creating effects for every occasion.

Local lights: These lights are used to supplement or even temporarily take the place of the ambient illumination. Local lights are most commonly standard lamps, table and wall lights and are generally used in order to facilitate such activities as reading, cooking, and shaving. The concentration of the light is local and it has to be properly worked out so it won?t strain the eyes.

Accent lights Accent lights are sources of light for showing off decorative items, ordinarily placed so as to draw attention to an objet d?art . Quite literally to show it in its best light.

Natural light: This is the one we get free though skylights, windows and doors. This light is controllable for part of the day by shades, curtains, drapes, blinds or awnings, but obviously varies with the time of the day, the season and the weather. Some locations see huge variations in natural light according to the season, eg monsoon, snow, etc.

It is doubtless easiest, if you take a house room by room. Start by thinking about what the room is used for. Retirees will probably want to take advantage of the daytime natural light for hobbies and reading, whereas a working couple with school-age kids, will be more active in the evening, when additional illumination might be more imperative. Write down what you do and where you do it. Do you have a favourite armchair for reading the paper, do you read the paper during daylight hours or after work? Be courageous in your selection of lighting, but also keep in mind that illumination can have a strong influence on our perception of dimensions, making a room look larger or smaller than it is in reality.

There are lots of ways to light a room but they all come from one of two perspectives: the lighting is either practical or aesthetic. Yes, they are both used to allow you to see more effortlessly, but highlighting the pages of a book or a shaving mirror is not quite the same as using a low light to highlight a statue of the Madonna in an alcove.

In a brief summary, you could use the few lines below to give you preliminary ideas when you are thinking about changing a room?s lighting:

i] Place a standard lamp behind armchairs: they ought to be between three and five feet high. ii] Use an accent light to high or even low light a work of art. iii] Use an accent light to underline the contours of bookshelves. iv] The ambient light ought to be adjustable. v] Use local illumination to swathe the walls with a low light or glow (can be sunk into the floor)

Living Room Decorating Ideas In Black And White

When people think about stylish home decor and making changes to their residence, whether it be one or two rooms or the entire house, the first thing that usually springs to mind is colour. Generally people choose colours they are fond of or those which correspond with pieces of their existing furniture. When looking for inspiration for stylish home decor, one idea which is perhaps too often overlooked is decorating with the two basic colours (or shades, to be more accurate) ” black and white.

Black and white, when used in decorating demonstrates style and creates drama. Top interior designers say that every room in the house could benefit by adding a slash of black. Black is a colour which anchors and grounds a room. Adding sophistication, black is definitely a colour that requires attention. Living room decorating ideas for a home using black can include accessories such as light fixtures, trim or furniture. Black serves to bring definition to the focal points in a room. Black is just one of the colours that makes a statement, but it is definitely one of the most eye-catching!

Using black and white shades in your stylish home decor, lends a clean, fresh, elegant touch to the atmosphere of the room. This combination can be added to any room in a home making it a sophisticated space. Black and white are often used in contemporary home decorating and often used to accent other colors in French Country design. It may be hard to visualize but there are many ideas for decorating a home using combinations of only these two basic shades.

The floor is a great place to start when you’re having living room decorating ideas. Black and white vinyl tiles laid alternately make a beautiful chessboard pattern and gives a clean and elegant appearance. Black marble used on the floor, accented by wide white baseboards is another beautiful idea for decorating a room. Laying white ceramic tiles with a black border or simply painting the floor black or white and using pattern stencils of the opposite colour for decoration is also really stunning. These all are great ideas for re-vamping a room.

Is there anything more perfect than white walls? Painting the walls white or even an off-white would make a perfect background for accessories such as artwork framed in black. Imagine that – stylish home decor! Elegant black window treatments or black shutters against a clean, crisp white wall would definitely create an air of sophistication. Perhaps a glass-topped table with black iron rim and black chairs? These are terrific ideas for decorating a home using only black and white.

Imagine a bedroom decorated using only black and white – that would be beautiful stylish home decor too. A black or white iron bed-stead, covered with a striped black and white blanket or eiderdown. The pillow cases could be either all black or all white and you could add throw cushions in the other colour.

A nice leather black or white armchair in the corner would definitely accent the living room decorating ideas. Then you could have the white walls with a sophisticated piece of artwork, framed in black, hanging on it. That would surely add to the modern feel of your living room decorating ideas. Black furniture against the stark white walls would look really neat and tidy and you could jazz it all up with accessories like pewter or silver candlesticks, jugs or vases.

However, if you think that the living room decorating ideas need a bit more colour to complete the effect, maybe a throw or a cushion in a bold colour like red or gold on the chair in the corner of the room would be enough to accent the room. There are innumerable ways to decorate a home, however, discovering the one that suits you and those who live with you is really very important. It’s nice to do something extreme and unusual, but please remember that you must be able to live with what you have created for quite sometime.

Stylish Country Home Decor

Your house is finally spick and span and you sit down and put your feet up for a minute with a nice cup of coffee by the side of you and you pick away at your muffin. You are worn out but it’s that good kind of weariness when you know you’ve done a good day’s work and you have no regrets about it. A feeling of contentment settles on you and you look around you with satisfaction.

A magazine lies in front of you tantalizingly within reach and you give in and pull it to you, intent on enjoying a well-earned rest. The top cover story springs out at you, entitled ‘Country Home Decor’. Naturally you flip through eagerly to that very section, you had only just seen an article on some stylish country home decor or converting your house into a small country haven in another magazine and it had interested you.

There are pages and pages of the magazine filled with what can only be categorized as the most ideal examples of country home decor imaginable. You gaze longingly at the various styles and furnishings you see gracing the magazine’s pages. A quick glance up from your magazine reassures you that your own modest abode hasn’t changed somehow instantly into one of those lovely country homes you were just admiring.

A heavy sigh passes your lips at the realization and so you go back to reading the magazine article. You had never thought that you were the sort of person who could live with the country home decor style but now upon reflection you think you just might be able to.

Now without your even realising it, you begin marking the pages that fascinate you the most, making small mental calculations on how best to achieve the same effect but on the more modest budget that you have to spend. After all, it just wouldn’t do to fork out for that lovely Welsh dresser and have to go without your freshly ground whole bean coffee, would it?

But, you could definitely buy that beautiful table runner without too much of a problem. And if you donated all those modern chrome coffee mugs and dinner sets to charity you wouldn’t really be splurging, would you, since you would have already done your best for charity and given them all these things?

What about exchanging your snazzy blinds for something that’s a bit more in the country home decor style, and while you’re at it perhaps you could even exchange that ugly lampshade you got as a house-warming gift for something a little more country.

The only thing that is left for you to do now is to lie back and enjoy the results of your work and gaze with beaming pride upon your newly redecorated home. Furnished, naturally enough, in the best country home decor style that you could gain from every source that you found, like that first magazine article that spurred it all off way back when.

Decorating Your Bathroom And Kitchen

For people who seem to have it all or for the people who are bored with their lifestyle, there are a few things that they can do to spruce-up their lives. Perhaps one of the best ways though is to begin redecorating one’s house. Some of the first places you should consider redecorating are your bathroom and kitchen.

These are usually the most overlooked and yet, most used rooms in the entire house. Think about it, have you redecorated at least even one of these rooms within the past few years? The answer is probably “no”, in which case think back to the last time you even looked closely at your bathroom or kitchen other than to Spring clean them.

Probably, if you noticed anything at all, you put the notion off until a future date when you would be able to devote more time to refurbishing your bathroom or kitchen, although at that time, the place certainly didn’t look as bad as it does now, after all, the years soon mount up and even though you’ve been keeping it rigorously clean you can’t stop the steady progress of time.

It is probably true that if you took a closer inspection now, you’d find that the drapes are looking a might drab and ragged around the edges, as are the bathroom rugs. And do not even look at the toilet roll holder. It is quite true that they don’t make things like they used to, and with very good reason too!

So, you should do yourself a favour and throw out all that unused clutter in the bathroom and get yourself some new stuff – you will be surprised at what beautiful things you can find these days. Anyway, you’ve probably been eyeing that lovely new bathroom set you noticed in the mall for some time, so at the very least now you will have a good reason to go out and splash out on yourself.

And while you’re about it, don’t forget to buy that lovely new spice rack you saw last week for the kitchen and a few mats that can be used in either room. They should be resilient to such commonplace occurrences as water, soap, oil grease, fat and all the other things that somehow seem to become ground into carpets.

However, if you’re looking for some new ideas on decorating your bathroom or your kitchen, there are a number of resources you can get your inspiration from. The best one I’ve found so far are the catalogues, which you can peruse to your heart’s content.

With all these options, you could even swap something that is a bit cheaper for the items you want in the catalogues. This is the best method to get your decorating projects started and to keep yourself pleasantly busy for some while and to transform your long suffering bathroom and kitchen into brand new, glitzy areas.
