Is Affiliate Marketing Right For Me?

There are more and more people trying to earn money on the Internet every day. Many are from the West, but even more are from developing countries. Some people from the West are scared of the economic decline and are looking for a backup to their current career and others dream of the millions that the the media likes to say that teenagers are making on the web.

People from developing countries can triple their wages by working on line. After all, if the family is earning $1 a day, they must be able to make three more on line, they reason. That is just one affiliate sale a week in lots of cases at the normal rate of 10% of sale cost.

Affiliate marketing is the most common way of attempting to earn money on line for several reasons. The first reason is because it is the simplest way to get going and the second is that many people are worried about composing – particularly in English, if English is not their mother tongue. Creating a web site is not a problem to many surfers who use the Net a lot.

Beginners to the Internet imagine that earning money on line is as simple as copying a couple of affiliate links on to a web page and spamming the world with their URL. This approach does not work, but it is the reason for so much of the junk email in your inbox each day.

There are professional spammers and even criminals on line for sure, but there are also hundreds of millions of optimistic teenagers sending out emails from cyber cafes all around the world.

The problems for these young affiliate marketing hopefuls is basically twofold. The difficulty of not being able to write a convincing page of prose in English, more on which later and a lack of cash and especially an International credit card.

These aspects are problems, practically insurmountable problems because being able to write is indispensable to the best kind of marketing and being able to pay by credit card is indispensable to the other best methods of marketing.

The number one all time best method of achieving affiliate sales is to compose a personal recommendation on a product based on personal experience with that product. So, if you cannot purchase the product and you cannot compose, you have big problems indeed. It is a mistake that most affiliate marketers make, to imagine that they have to compose a sales page.

No, no and no, you do not. In most instances the firm you are selling for has spent hundreds if not thousands on persuasive sales pages written by copywriters. You would have to be very good to beat their efforts. Your job as an affiliate is to pre-sell by composing a page about your experience with the object and providing a forward link to the sales page.

If you cannot do that, you can try the next best ways: PPC (pay per click) – you pay for each click on your advertisement whether that leads to a sale or not. Adsense is the number one proponent here. PPI (pay per impression) – you pay each time your ad appears on the publisher’s network, whether it leads to a sale or not. In both cases, you need a credit card.

This is why there is so much junk email, there are millions of hopefuls who cannot write well enough in English and/or who do not have a credit card to pay for the alternatives.

How Can You Get Free Radio Advertising? – Part 2

Welcome to part two of ‘How To Get Free Radio Advertising’. In part one we looked at how to get in touch with the radio station manager and how to broach the subject of getting free on-air radio advertising. If you have not yet read it, please look for ‘How To Get Free Radio Advertising – part 1′ on this site.

Doing it this way makes saying ‘yes’ or ‘no’ very easy for the manager, because his only decisions are whether he trusts you and whether he can schedule you in or not. If the manager agrees to give your suggestion his consideration, put all your material in a package with a covering letter reiterating what you said on the phone, a photo of or a gratis copy of your product and your advertising copy.

Send it off or deliver it immediately. Include a stamped, self addressed envelope, if you want a written reply or your material returned.

If your proposal is rejected, send him a ‘thank you, perhaps next time’ note and move on to the next name. If you are rejected frequently, perhaps you ought to sweeten your offer a little by raising their percentage of the cut or increasing the price of the product. You will have to do some research there too, if you do not get it right first time.

Doing business such as this is traditionally done using the phone and the postal service, because radio managers are usually hard-pressed for time. However, it would be feasible to do all this over the Internet, except sending samples, naturally, if the manager is comfortable using the Internet.

It always amazes me how many people there are out there in business who do not use the Internet very frequently because they do not understand much about it.

You could propose using the Internet for sending your stuff over but do not be pushy about it, because the manager might be too embarrassed to declare that he cannot use the Internet. It could also be faxed over, but faxes frequently come out looking shabby and that might damage your chances. If in doubt, just post it.

If you get a green light to your application, be ready to act quickly, so always have your stuff bundled up and ready to go. Never give them time to forget who you are or ‘go off the boil’.

You will need to have written your advertisements first, but how long should they be? This is a difficult one, so ask the manager in your initial discussion, whether they have an advertising policy or predilection for the length of slots.

It could be thirty seconds a slot or sixty seconds (a double slot). As soon as you know, you can write your ads: two different adverts for each length of slot.

If you want to be totally pre-prepared, you could write two fifteen second, two thirty second and two sixty second ads before you even ring anyone. And do not forget to read them back out loud several times to check them for length. Try getting a few friends to read them back to you as well.

The radio station will require you to sign a contract and you should have a simple contract drawn up too showing your payment policy, returns policy, dispatch policy, et cetera, et cetera.

In summation, your P.I. Advertising Package should contain the following: 1. a cover letter 2. a sample or product literature 3. two thirty second and two sixty second adverts 4. your P.I. advertising contract 5. a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

In conclusion, I want to suggest a couple of tips. Whilst you are composing your commercials, try to include a catchphrase of some kind so that you can use it in your off-air advertising to remind people that your product has been advertised on-air. Spend a lot of thought composing your advert: radio station managers are busy, professional people and they cannot afford to waste valuable air time on failures.

If your item sells and makes money for them, you will be welcome back, otherwise you will be ostracized. Put a few ads in the paper and fliers through the doors to pre-warm people to your up-and-coming radio advertising campaign.

When Fear Is A Part Of Life At School

Do you have fond memories of your school years? Do you have happy memories of teachers and school friends? If you do then you were lucky, because some kids hate every minute of being in school and not because they are no good at it either. Frequently it is the clever children who are bullied for being swots and teachers’ pets. They are safe in the class, but the travelling to and from school and the school breaks can become nightmares.

However, it is not only bullying from other children that causes fear in school children. There are other reasons for fear in school as well. Occasionally, children think that a certain teacher does not like them and sometimes children are just frightened of failing or doing badly. Occasionally teachers are frightened of doing badly as well. It can all lead to an atmosphere of fear at school. It makes you ask yourself how anyone could have enjoyed their school days, does it not?

This atmosphere of fear can get greater in state schools because the teachers are subject to success charts and the children are more open to bullying. Furthermore, all of the school shootings in the world have taken place in state run schools.

However, the most subtle form of fear in school emanates from teachers who are afraid of missing the targets set by the state, because that will cost them their jobs. This fear is passed on to their students. The regime of fear is made worse by over-sized groups. Why?

Because teachers can hold the attention of only so many pupils – as we all can in regular discourse. Therefore, if the class is too big, the teacher will have to switch roles from being a teacher to a controller. When this happens, education suffers for the sake of keeping order.

For all of these reasons and more, many parents are turning to home schooling. Some of the reasons why parents are deciding to educate their children themselves are: distrust of the state education system; fear of bullying or worse of their children; a desire to teach their children in a more conventional or religious manner.

There are learning packages that parent-teachers can buy to give them a course of action on what to teach. There is also a lot of help accessible on the Net. The problem facing any parents who wish to educate their own children is providing an all round education.

People have a natural tendency to specialize in one topic or group of topics like, say, astronomy or the sciences, which is why schools supply many teachers, so that each one can teach his or her favourite subject. However, if you are the only teacher you will have to teach all the subjects yourself.

This is why it is best to have a course or set of guidelines to follow. It is difficult to teach maths if you have no talent for it, so look at your strengths but also your weaknesses before you take the considerable decision to withdraw your children from school and educate them themselves

How To Get Free Radio Advertising – Part 1

Most business owners recognize that advertising is essential to their business. However, in spite of knowing this, most business owners dislike advertising because it is dreadfully expensive. The trouble is that if you do not advertise, only your friends and neighbours will ever get to hear of you.

For instance, in our average sized town of 65,000 inhabitants, there are thirty-eight pages of builders in the Yellow Pages; each page has two columns and each column has forty to fifty names on it.

These small businesses dream of TV and radio advertising the same as the big companies, but it is just too costly or at least they think that it is. Colossal companies such as Coca Cola and MacDonald’s expend hundreds of millions of dollars on radio and TV advertising, but small business have other, smaller opportunities to advertise locally.

One of these cheaper, sometimes even free, methods of advertising on the radio is ‘per inquiry’ or PI Advertising. This is a type of radio advertising that is very advantageous to the advertiser, because advertisers only pay for every inquiry about their advertisement. It is a bit the same as Google’s ‘pay per click’ or ‘PPC’ advertising on web sites.

First of all, you will require a list of all the radio stations in the locale that you are interested in. You can get hold of a list of licensed radio stations at your local library or they can get one in for you.

Then copy out the names of all the stations in your target region. It is usually best to begin with your own region and fan out from there, but if you have a precise target audience, you will have to some investigation first.

Next you should look through your list of radio stations and mark the ones that are of interest. For example, if you are selling skateboards, it is perhaps not worth advertising on a Classical FM music station.

The next step is to get in touch with the manager of the station or maybe the Advertising Director. Explain your plan to that person in detail. it could go something along the lines of:

“I have a product that research has shown will sell well in your broadcast district if it is advertised on your radio. However, I want to do a test run before committing to any long term advertising strategy”.

“I will do all the writing of the commercial and I will do all the book-keeping. I will send the product out and I will handle any issues and returns quickly and efficiently”.

“You will receive xx% of every sale we make. You take the phone numbers of the inquiries, pass them on to me and I will treat every name you give me as a sale for you. The item I want to sell is a xxxxxxxx, which retails at $xx plus $1 postage and packing”.

This concludes ‘How To Get Free Radio Advertising – part 1′, in the second part, we will be looking at how to secure your free, on-air, radio advertising campaign. Please look for part two on this web site.

Coastal Cottage Holidays

Seaside holidays are extremely popular which is why every year, millions of tourists head for seaside beaches. Perhaps you like coastal holidays too. seaside holidays are fabulous, but that can be the problem too, because it frequently means overcrowding, queuing, rubbish and noise. Have you ever thought about renting your own private coastal cottage? Many only dream about it, but it is not that difficult or costly to arrange actually.

One point to bear in mind is that, public beaches are well-known and that is why they get too busy. However, private coastal cottages are often secluded or on private beaches, which makes for a much quieter holiday. Often, local people living only miles from the cottage do not know that they are there. In spite of this, most coastal cottages do not cost a fortune to rent.

These coastal cottages are to be had in many countries around the world. They are certainly very popular in Britain, Europe and the United States. The level of privacy and the amenities available will depend on where you go. A coastal cottage in Wales will give you a very different holiday than a coastal cottage in southern France or Coney Island.

Many coastal cottages are located near a popular holiday destination. Not right in the middle of the venue, but normally a few miles or less outside, so that you can easily drive in or even walk in, if you want some livelier entertainment. Typical coastal cottage leisure activities include swimming, sailing, fishing and walking.

Of course, one of the chief considerations when renting a cottage is the rent itself. Now the funny thing is that is not nearly such a big concern as you might think it would be. The macro location is more important than the micro location. So, Wales might be cheaper than the south of France, but within Wales itself, there is not a huge variation in price, when you equate like with like. Obviously, a five-bedroomed coastal cottage will be more expensive than a three-bedroomed one.

Another situation worth looking into is the ownership of the coastal cottage. Is it owned by a private individual who lives near-by or is it owned by a large business. Is the cottage a real, original cottage or is it a new, mock cottage building? If it is old, is it connected with anyone famous or a famous event? Knowing these facts can all heighten your enjoyment.

Make sure that you are given some maps or drawings so that you can find the place easily. Especially if you are going to the cottage in the evening or in the dark. Things often look considerably different at night than in the daylight, and if your chosen cottage is in a quiet spot, there may not be any street lighting

Finally, get hold of some pictures of inside and outside the coastal cottage you ultimately decide on and then book it early, because the best coastal cottages go earlier and earlier every year as this form of vacationing becomes ever more popular.

Wedding Cakes

Nearly every family or social event includes the eating of food and the drinking or drinks in the celebration. Think of Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. In this article, I would like to speak about that centre piece of the wedding reception: the wedding cake.

The guests come to eat, drink and be merry and the bride’s parents always put a great deal of work into the organization of the wedding reception. The wedding cake is the focal point of the top table and the whole function in general. The wedding cake has traditional significance and it is often considered bad luck not to have a slice of the wedding cake.

There are specific rules for the timing of the cutting of the wedding cake that have become part of tradition. For example, if the wedding reception takes place at lunch or dinner, it is traditional to cut the wedding cake just before the sweet is served.

However, if the reception is to take place in the late afternoon or early evening, the cake is served as soon as the guests arrive. In some traditions the bride and groom cut and eat the first slice together as a symbol of their vows to love, honour and obey each other. The remainder of the cake is generally cut by one of the assistants, like the maid of honour or a family relative.

It can be quite difficult to choose the wedding cake. Traditionally, people go for a white cake with white icing for weddings, however these days, people are becoming more adventurous and are picking more exotic flavours and colours.

Some people choose to have a wedding cake which has different flavours on each layer. While white icing is still the overwhelming favourite, people do order other colours like pink and yellow. Chocolate and mocha are also popular. These days you can have what you like. It is your day, after all.

Everybody likes the wedding reception. It is the favourite part of the wedding ceremony and everyone looks forward to seeing the cake cut and sharing it with the bride and groom.

If you are thinking about becoming a cake decorator, you have a couple of options to go about it. You could buy a book or a course or get a video in order to teach yourself how to decorate cakes from the simple to the elaborate. You could also go to a night school class to learn the art or cake decoration.

Without a doubt, the very best way to learn cake decorating is to take a course. DVD’s, videos, and books are all well and good, but you cannot talk to them or ask questions. If you take a class for three months or more you will learn more and get a deeper understanding of the art of cake decoration. You will learn how to put real feeling into the decoration of the cake and you will be able to translate the wedding couple’s dreams into a cake that you and they can be proud of.

The Ancient History of Barry, South Wales: Part Two

In the 18th. Century evidence of Neolithic man was discovered in the form of dishes, saws, knives, flints, a scraper, a prehistoric horn celt with obscure markings, a spokeshave and some arrowheads, amongst other things. Unfortunately, although these things reside safely in the Museum of Cardiff, no one thought it worth excavating at the time and now residences stand on the sites.

An ancient Roman kitchen replete with cooking utensils and food remains was also abandoned without investigation. In 1533, Leland, the King’s Antiquary, was ordered to visit ‘all places where records are held’. It took him nine years and he wrote of Barry Island:

“It is about a mile in circumference and has good corn, grass and some wood, and there is no dwelling on the Island, but in the midst of it is a fair little Chapel of St. Baruch which is visited by many pilgrims. It took the name Barri from this holy man who was buried there and whose remains are yet on the Island”. (The Welsh name for Barry is Y Barri).

Vikings raided the coastline of south Wales in the Tenth Century often taking hostages from the monasteries, but they did not seek to settle the area. The island was known as the ‘Saints’ Retreat’ or the ‘Island of Saints’ for a long time. Later, in the Sixteenth Century, the island was used by smugglers and pirates and was known locally as the ‘Smugglers’ Fortress’. This occurred at the same time as Bristol, Britain’s second largest port, was growing rapidly.

Barry Island soon became the centre of piracy and smuggling in the Bristol Channel. In 1784, the island became known as the “Fortress of Knight”. Knight was the most prolific pirate and smuggler in the channel and people were to terrified to speak out in court against him., although he was also considered a bit of a local hero. His armed ship was called ‘John O’ Combe’. He was eventually forced out to Lundy, which he also fortified. He and his successor, Arthur, returned to Barry so frequently that H.M. Customs asked the government to station a cutter in Penarth and 60 troops to Barry.

Rhoose was infamous for its wreckers and George II sent troops to break up the smugglers and wreckers. They landed at Aberthaw “the Rhoose men’s favourite landing zone, from where they could easily transport the contraband along Port Road to Cardiff, the main market for such things”. Several large caves were filled in while constructing the present day docks and it is likely that they were used by the pirates until they were moved on in about 1850.

They must also be committed and ready for the challenges that they will come across. The parents ought to look for a rally good computer program or book that can help their children to learn about using computers. Home Schooling And Young Children

In recent years, home schooling has become extremely popular especially with the middle and upper-middle class families. There have been lots of arguments before about home schooling. Experts claim that there are advantages as well as disadvantages in home schooling but it seems that the former outweigh the latter and therefore, a lot of families are now choosing home schooling over the traditional schools.

Cultures vary and somehow the relations within the family are affected too. In some cultures, family ties are fairly strong, but there are also those who don’t have very good relationships with other family members. However, through home schooling, family ties and relationships are improved. Parents will spend enough time with their kids because of the home schooling program and the children will have to listen to their parents too. Communication is much improved and both parties have to learn about the importance of speaking and listening.

Many families prefer home schooling because of its diversity. Since the cost of home education is a bit more than normal schools, the financial standing of the household is very important. However, without thinking about money, many parents will still opt for home schooling, because it can ensure their kids’ safety. Public schools often have dangerous environments that can affect children terribly, but if they are in a home schooling program, they can stay away from these predicaments and their parents will be there to supervise them.

Instead of enrolling the kids at a public school, many parents prefer home schooling because the educational environment in the public schools is not that conducive. In public schools, very young pupils may experience difficulties that can affect them socially, mentally, and academically for a long time. Experts who have conducted surveys, claim that children learn better in a safe environment surrounded by loved ones. A further advantage of home schooling is that children can learn according to their capacity. You can’t just deliver a new lesson, if the previous one hasn’t been learned yet. It may take longer, but the results are better.

As stated previously, home schooling is a bit more costly. However, if you think that you can cut down your child’s educational expenses, you’re probably wrong. Home schooling expenses are almost the equal to those of traditional schools. However, if you participate in the forums of the parents of home-schoolers, you will discover that there are ways to reduce costs. Naturally, you will have to spend on the resource materials, computer, and internet, but you can also use outside resources like cultural meetings, public libraries and many others.

You will get even more cost-saving notions, if you get in touch with other parents. The Internet offers numerable opportunities and with a bit of homework, you can definitely discover ways to ease the costs. If you don’t want to hire tutors, then you will have to learn the lessons too. You have already studied the various subjects in your kids’ educational program, so you only need to review them. You can get further learning material online or the bookshop and later on, teach your children.

Therefore, it is plain to see, that home schooling is by far the best option, especially if your child is still rather young. It all depends on you and your kid, whether they continue this form of education until they graduate for college.

Cottage Rentals in The Country

Most people look forward to going away on vacation and a lot of people like to make complex plans and bookings. After all you frequently have to make allowances for flights and hotels. However, there can also be car, sightseeing and bicycle bookings too, depending on the type of holiday you want.

As an alternative to a hotel, you might want to think about hiring a private cottage. Cottage rentals are a good option to a hotel or guest house. In general, cottage holidays are self-catering, so you would have to be ready to put in a little more work than if you went on an all-inclusive hotel stay. A small cottage on the coast in an isolated setting would suit many people, but a vacation cottage on the coast might be better for others.

If you pick the right location, you can have whatever sort of cottage you want. Go to the coast if you like sailing or snorkeling. A seaside resort setting would offer more night life probably. If you want a quieter fishing vacation with canoing or boating, a quiet lakeside retreat would be more appropriate. Then there are mountain retreats and several other degrees of solitude and nightlife too.

If you would like to go to see museums and other touristic sights, you should select a site near an appropriate city. It just requires a little forward planning and consideration.

We live in Wales and there are thousands of rental cottages of all kinds in all manner of locations. If you have a big family, you could hire a number of cottages close to each there and live in a kind of old fashioned village. There are also modern camps like ‘Center Parcs’ which have hundreds of very modern cottages in small groups of four or five so that families or friends can stay in a group together.

These modern cottages are very plush, with Jacuzzis, swirl baths, large flat screen televisions and all manner of entertainment equipment and satellite TV. The cottages are set in acres of woodland and wildlife is everywhere. There are deer, badgers, foxes, squirrels and dozens of types of birds including kingfishers, geese, ducks and swans.

The swimming pools are completely heated and go inside and outside into the woods, so that even in the middle of winter you remain warm. There is also archery, boating and hiking with many courses of differing hardship to follow. It is great to walk in the woods knowing that you cannot get lost with animals around every corner.

The wildlife is used to human company, so much or it is not scared and they come right up to you if you stop for a picnic. These holidays are not so cheap as going to a self-catering private holiday, but they are safe, particularly for young families.

You can come across cottage rentals through a travel agent, but you can also find them by looking in your local newspaper. These are some of the best finds because the cottages might be only a few hours drive away, but that is far enough to make a big change. You do not really need to get on a plane to have a great holiday with a difference.

Inland Beach Cottages

When many people, singles and families alike, think about booking a holiday, many of them would only think about going to the beach for a fortnight’s lounging on the beach under the sun and swimming in warm, azure sea.

However, many of the best, most famous beach locations are magnets for hordes of people. It appears that most people like the sand, the sea and the sun. Now some people go to these destinations precisely because they are busy. They like the crowds and the night clubs that attract them. Mainly singles go to these types of places and a holiday romance is not far from many peoples’ minds.

Couples and older people may prefer a little less noise, pollution and bustle. However, there are beaches which meet these requirements too. Often they are private beaches. Some have hotels on them but some do not. Those that do not frequently have inland beach cottage rental properties instead. These are nearly always self-catering.

When most people think of a beach it is instinctively connected with the sea. However, this need not inevitably be so. There are also inland beaches on lakes and rivers. These beaches are usually referred to as inland beaches. Accommodation can be a problem with even some of the best inland beaches.

Many of these inland beaches are simply not well-known enough to make a hotel commercially feasible, but some of them have cottage rentals instead. These cottages, or cabins sometimes, can be difficult to find if you do not reserve early enough. They are frequently complete homes, fully equipped with all the household facilities you have grown accustomed to: a fully furnished living room, multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and a contemporary kitchen.

Inland beach cottage rentals are popular because they are usually located right on the water’s edge. This makes the bit of beach right before your cottage your private beach. You can sleep on it at night if it’s hot, lie there all day or set up a few fishing lines.

In the evenings, you can hitch up with neighbours to have a party or keep yourself to yourself. For this reason, it is a good idea to check photos of the cottage before you make a reservation.

If an inland beach cottage rental sounds just up your street, there are thousands to choose from in the United States and Canada. The Great Lakes are a particularly fine place to go. There are excellent locations in the Finger Lakes region of New York state and along Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

You will not regret going on holiday to an inland beach cottage rental property. There are so many variations that there is certainly something for every pocket and every family size. Singles are not so well catered for, but if you want a quiet holiday alone. maybe to study, then this might fitting be for you too.

You can fly into some of these resorts by seaplane, but it is more likely that you will take your own car or a rental car, if you want to get out and do some exploring further afield. Personally, I would rather hire a dinghy.

Vacation Rental Homes, Are They A Good Idea?

Many people that go on vacation have a preference to rent a home in their destination rather than staying in a hotel. Most of these people do this because it gives them the freedom to cook their own food and eat out when they like without missing set meals that they have previously paid for.

It can be more difficult to find such a vacation rental than simply making a hotel reservation. However, most holiday makers say that the endeavor is worthwhile. There are a few items that you should check up on if you are not to be dissatisfied when you get there.

It is very useful if you have friends or family living in the destination locale and if you do have this advantage, you should use it, but all is far from lost if you do not. There are often agencies for these kinds of vacation rentals as many people who live in such locations rent their homes out in the peak season and they do this via those agencies.

There are also quite a few web sites specializing in home rentals for vacational purposes. Some of these Internet agencies just charge on behalf of the property owner and others can arrange swaps, which is a great, cheap way to travel the world.

The surveys that these web sites carry out are often quite wide-ranging, containing such predictable information as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, but also such details as whether there is a phone, a car, bicycles or scooters on the property, along with distance to the shops, main road, airport, train and bus stations.

However, if you have any questions still unanswered, you are usually encouraged to ask them directly to the property owner via the agency’s web site. It is a good idea to rent a vacation home through a rental agency for security purposes, because if a problem does arise then you have a mediator on hand. In these situations the agency would handle the whole affair, up to the point of criminal proceedings.

You may also like to ask about the age of the property, because often the day to day maintenance of the place is down to you while you are there, as are breakages, unless those things are covered by the owner’s insurance policy.

You should also find out whether you are allowed to use the home owner’s bedding, linen, and towels etc.. Often you just treat the house and its contents as your own, unles a cupboard or door is locked and you have not been given the key.

One last piece of advice is to get suitable directions. Places that you are not familiar will look very different in the dark than they do in the daylight, particularly if the property is off the beaten track.

Therefore, if you are expecting to arrive late or if there is a likelihood that you might be held up, ask for photographs of key points taken in the twighlight. It will make certain that you get to your destination vacation home rental with no difficulties.

Wedding Favours

There are many gifts that can be used as wedding favours, after all the purpose of wedding favours is to illustrate to your guests that you are grateful for them coming to your wedding and expressing their support for your wedding. Therefore, you ought to really try to find wedding favors, that your guests will like.

Of course, the present that most suits your guests, may not be one you would choose for yourself, but you are getting the wedding favours for your guests, not yourself. If you think about it, you should be able to come up with something that everyone will like and that you are proud to give. In order to help you get the job done, we will offer you a few suggestions below.

Love spoons are a prevalent souvenir at Welsh and other Celtic weddings. A love spoon was a wooden spoon carved by a love sick man for the woman he cherished. She would then either take or reject the love spoon, although she was not bound by the acceptance of the spoon. Miniature copies are often used as wedding favours. They can be carved with dates and names and symbols of love such as a hearts, bells, vines, key holes, anchors and knots.

Wedding favours can also be edible. There are a lot of choices open for couples who wish to give their guests some type of edible favour. You can have many things personalized these days. Some firms specialize in personalized gifts, which can also be given as wedding favours. Some examples of edible, personalized wedding favours might be: chocolate bars, mints, biscuits or gourmet chocolates. The box or wrapping could bear your photo or / and your names and the date.

Small wedding cakes are another idea for edible wedding favours. Small wedding cakes have a short shelf life so they will have to include a warning, which will in all probability be put on the wrapper automatically, but it is worth checking.

A half / quarter or small bottle of wine or other drink would also be fairly easy to arrange as wine bottle labels can be acquired in any home brew shop.

Picture frames are frequent wedding favors. You could give a picture frame and follow it up with a photo of the beneficiary of the frame enjoying your wedding reception. This might be costly and tricky to set up as you will have to keep records of who has been photographed and who has not. It would be dreadful to miss someone out, would it not? You will probably also need a professional photographer or at least a dedicated amateur.

Wedding favours can be anything really, but I reckon that they are better if they are practical. We gave very unusual bottle-openers away at our wedding. They had a pattern of a couple getting married, our names and the date. They also had a magnet in them to catch the bottle top as it came off. I have seen dozens of our bottle-openers stuck on our guests’ fridges over the years and the wedding was three years ago.

Welsh Terriers A Facing a Struggle

Originally, Welsh terriers were bred for hunting rabbits, foxes and badgers, but public opinion and the decline in the lust for blood in general have gone against blood sports and so this native breed of Wales has become a show dog and a pet. Breeders try to outdo each other by breeding the Welsh terrier to have a thicker wiry coat and deeper colouration. The Welsh terrier is also a popular pet because it is one of the most easy-going terriers.

The Welsh terrier is a fun loving dog. It just loves to run, chase and play, which makes it a smashing companion and a perfect pet. Welsh terriers require lots of exercise, so be prepared for plenty of walks, if you make your mind up to get one.

It is a good idea to ‘socialize’ your dog as soon as possible. This means that you should introduce your Welsh terrier puppy to children and other dogs at an early age. The more you encourage your dog to participate with other dogs as a puppy, the less trouble you will have with your dog fighting or barking at other dogs and cats. It’s the same story with children. Children can play very roughly, and a dog could be forgiven for biting back, but it can be avoided by introducing your Welsh terrier puppy to children while it is still young. The child might learn respect, but the dog will learn tolerance.

The Welsh terrier is easily trained, if you like your dog to do tricks. it is an intelligent breed and, being former hunters, they are good at learning commands and tricks. Train your Welsh terrier with kindheartedness and repetition. They like to retrieve sticks and play with a ball. Many people train their Welsh terriers to catch a flying Frisbee too.

A Welsh terrier will groom himself quite meticulously, but you can help out by brushing him once a week in order to eradicate the dead and loose hair. This will also help reduce the amount of hairs dropping inside your house, although terriers in general, and wire-haired dogs in particular do not shed as much hair as soft coated dogs. You could also lend a hand by wiping him over with a moist cloth from time to time in order to pick up any dust on his coat.

A Welsh terrier is very active and very curious, so it is prudent to keep your dog in a yard that has been fenced off. However, the fence needs to be realistically high, because the Welsh terrier has an exceptional ability to jump due to its long legs.

The Welsh terrier is Britain’s oldest breed of dog, but it is now under pressure. The British kennel club registers only 300 Welsh terrier puppies a year, whereas it registers tens of thousands of puppies of other, more popular, breeds. The Welsh terrier is a strong-willed animal, so it does need a strong-willed and patient owner.

However. if you want a Welsh terrier and you persevere with it, you will never look back. They have a lot to give and, as with so many things in life, you only get out what you are willing to put in.

How To Manage A Wedding Car Business

Have you ever thought about setting up a wedding car company? Although it can be demanding, because you do not want to let anybody down on their big day, it is also fascinating and exciting.

Some of the advantages are that you get to own good-looking cars – maybe a Rolls Royce or a Bentley and they are tax-deductible; you meet new people under happy circumstances and you are in the position to help them have a wonderful wedding day.

It is a very demanding industry, because you always have to bear in mind the desires of your clients and think about how you can realize and expand their’ wishes. That is difficult enough, but you also have to stay competitive. I hope that the following tips will be helpful.

1] Take care of the conditions under which you keep your vehicles. If you can afford to garage them, they will not collect dust and bird droppings so the paintwork will look better for longer. Do not have a gravel drive, because of possible scratching to the coachwork of the vehicles.

2] Get one or two really lovely cars. You will need to do a bit of research to find out what couples in your area like, but as a rule of thumb a Rolls Royce or a Bentley are sure bets. Or maybe a stretch limousine. Old vehicles go down well too. Build up your fleet of cars step by step but increasingly. Offer your clients as much choice as you can realistically afford to do.

Many wedding couples will not only require the wedding car, but also vehicles for the guests. Many of them want limousines or old vehicles for their wedding day. But a lot of other vehicles are required for the guests. Be adaptable and consent to bedeck the cars according to the couple’s wishes with flowers and ribbons.

2] Employ good, sympathetic personnel. A fully trained chauffeur is a necessity, but a military style chauffeur can add to your firm’s image.

3] It is a good idea to offer various packages or elements that a couple can use to build a package. So, you could offer transportation from the bride’s house to the church as one element. From the church to the restaurant as another element and from there to the chosen hotel, the airport or the railway station, as another element.

4] Make sure that your clients know precisely how long they have exclusive use of the vehicles for. This is useful for them, so that they know precisely how long they have to take photos, eat or chat.

Transport plays a huge and vital part in any wedding day celebrations. In fact, poorly timed or scruffy transportation can ruin a wedding day. If you let that happen, your firm’s standing will suffer badly, particularly in a town or village. You will need a high sense of responsibility; reliable, well-trained, sensitive staff and high quality cars that look the part. White wedding cars are popular, but other colours are acceptable, especially for the guests.

The Signs Of Love

Many people believe that the stars can provide a lot of insight into ourselves, our past and our future. This information can include how, when, and with whom we are most likely to fall in love, although it can go a lot further than that too. This is not to say that astrology is the same as a chart of your destiny, so although the one you love may not be a perfect match for you in astrological terms, it does not mean that you should not create a relationship.

There are a few methods by which you can start to understand the universal forces that draw someone to their partner or anyone else. If you learn to interpret or even master these forces, you will also learn how to make any relationship work better and discover yourself at the same time as well.

One of the best ways to begin, is to find a horoscope of yourself that seems fairly truthful. In this way you will discover a writer of horoscopes that you can trust. Not everyone is at the same level of advancement and this goes for horoscope writers too. Some are novices some are experts, most are in the middle and some are charlatans.

Once you have your own pretty truthful horoscope, get one done by the same person for the one you love or would like to get on with better. Try not to read too much into what you imagine you know until you know that you know it. For example, you might be a Capricorn (a ram), so it might sound logical to be weary of a Leo (a lion) as the two animals are enemies in real life. But learn more; do not jump to conclusions.

You can start to compare the two zodiac signs for complementary and contrasting qualities, likes and dislikes though. You can go into as much depth of detail about the ideal zodiac mate for you as you like. However, be very suspicious of letting the zodiac reading rule your life and decision-making. Do not give up on someone just because their horoscope seems to conflict with yours. Rather, use the details you read about the other person to connect better with them.

There really are quite a lot of very informative books and web sites to help you on your mission to work out the details of your zodiac match. So do some research and have some fun with it. However, be prepared to unearth a few surprises. You will probably find that the author of the book or web site is closer to understanding you by your zodiac sign than you would ever have believed, which means that the author is probably pretty accurate with your partner too.

Once you have been studying the zodiac for a time, you will look at people in a different way and you will be very inquisitive about other peoples’ star signs. You will want to know whether you can guess a person’s sign of the zodiac and whether you can forecast his or her reactions.

The Ancient Roots of Barry, South Wales: Part 1.

Much of what we know or have supposed about Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan, in which it is situated has been gleaned from the buildings found there, many of which have been badly neglected for too long. There are also legendary stories, such as that of Joseph of Arimathea, who traded tin in Glastonbury, just across the channel and who was one of the first missionaries to this part of the country.

It is a widely-held traditional belief that the father of Caractacus took him to Rome where they both converted to Christianity. They later returned to the Vale of Glamorgan with the missionary Bran The Blessed. It is also well-known that Christianity had gained much popular belief in the Vale by the early fourth century and that several bishops on the Council of Rome were from the area.

Saint Baruch’s Church on Barry Island is one of the oldest places of historic religious interest in the region, but unfortunately, it too has been allowed to become dilapidated. Barry Island was one of the most important places of monastic interest in south Wales and around. The ancient Viking strongholds of Steep and Flat Holms also housed monks and Saint Illtyd’s Seminary in nearby Llantwit Major, which taught 2,200 disciples, was closely linked to it too.

There was an ancient Roman fort and accompanying naval dockyard on Porthkerry Point, which had obviously jutted out further into the sea than it does now and later a castle was built on their ruins. There have been found many wolf and deer bones between Sully and Barry – enough to show that they had existed there in great numbers. There have also been a large number of findings of arrowheads, flints, needles and coins, proving that people were there to prey on them too.

‘The Island’, as it is known locally, was first named Baruch’s Island after St. Baruch, who was found washed up on one its beaches dead in 700 AD. He had been drowned on his return from Flat Holm, where it was common practice for religious students to spend Lent.

He and Gwelches were both students of St. Cadoc and when they had got back from Flat Holm, they realized that they had left their enchiridion (religious manual) behind. St. Cadoc made them go back for it. Neither monk returned from the trip alive.St. Illtyd, St. Baruch’s most famous disciple was educated there too.

Barry Island has had several names, including Island of the Saints and Insular of Peiros. St. Peiro was the leader of the seminary after St. Illtyd and the mentor of St. Samson. St. Doeninas was also a leader of another abbey near Friars Point on the island.

Home Schooling And The Family

According to the National Center For Education Statistics, almost 1.1 million children underwent home schooling in 2005 alone. That’s a lot of children. Once upon a time, homeschooling used to be an extreme statement – something like a declaration of independence.

It was the right-wing Christians who pushed for homeschooling in the 1980′s and legalized it in every State. But these day, average homeschooling student is not religiously motivated.

More recent surveys indicate that parents are actually fed up with the public school system where much of the learning is superficial and compulsory. They are also concerned about the negative environment in school, which ranges from drugs and abuse to negative peer pressure.

As a result, we have a surprising mix of people who form the homeschooling world of today. They cut across all religious creeds and all regional borders. Their chief goal is providing meaningful and productive learning through a method that strengthens the bond between the various members of the family.

All these families have one main thing in common – a long enduring commitment to the sanctity of childhood. The children in these families are accorded a primary position. Many believe, and, I think, rightly so, that home schooling allows parents to bring up their kids in a more natural and nurturing environment.

Public schools can make a child nervous, diffident and downright mean. Children who get their education at home are protected from these damaging, negative influences until they reach an age where they can deal with them.

Home-schooling draws the whole family into the almost religious job of teaching. Everyone is put to work. Both the parents together form a bond with the children. Any experience can be turned into an educational experience. Both the parents are aware of exactly what is going into their child’s education.

Parents also have a greater say over the kind of religious and moral values that the child is taught. Even watching a film together can become a learning experience. Trips to the libraries, zoos, museums and other places become educational as well as recreational.

A home-schooling family is primarily dependent on the income of one earning member. That means that often outgoings have to be curtailed and proper planning of expenditure is necessary. This helps to bring the family members together and everybody becomes involved in the task of saving money.

Just having a parent at home to look after, to nurture and to care for the children brings with it a lot of love and caring. Even the husband chips in and there just is no room for boredom.

All right, problems do crop up, and there will be many misgivings in your mind, but when you know that your children can always count on you, and your kids know it too, then homeschooling becomes a richly rewarding experience.

The Ancient Roots of Barry, South Wales: Part 3.

Barry Castle was owned by William de Barri in the twelfth century, but it was raized to the ground by Llewellyn Bren in 1316. Many believe that the Cavaliers rebuilt and that the Roundheads destroyed it again. Whatever is true, it was never rebuilt again after that.

The Norman interlopers were thoroughly hated by the local people and they had to build large mansions to defend themselves from the not infrequent raids on them by the people of the valleys and the mountains. During the time of the reign of Henry III, there were 12 castles within six miles of Barry; in Glamorgan, there were 30 castles and in South Wales as a whole there were 150 of those symbols of oppression.

Porthkerry and its church which lies on the wooded hill to the west of it are said to have taken their name from Ceri, who, in turn, is said to have founded a port there, ie ‘Port Ceri’. People say that Ceri ap Caid, the King of Essyllwg, lived in Porthkerry before the Christian era and that his bard, Corvinor, was the first to build a ship with sails and a rudder for the ‘race of Cymru’. Some believe that Ceri was a nephew or grandson of Caractacus (Caradog) and that he took over the leadership of the government in South Wales when Caractacus had to journey to Rome.

John Wesley preached in the Porthkerry Church and sometimes outside in the churchyard too between 1741 and 1743. Today, there are two very old churches still in use in Barry: St. Cadocs Church in Cadoxton and Merthyr Dyfan Church in Merthyr Dyfan. One-hundred-and-fifty years ago, Cadoxton was the largest village in the Barry area: thus, in 1844 the Parliamentary register contained 25 names: 20 from Cadoxton and five from Barry. The one church was dedicated to St. Cadoc, who had been accustomed to spend Lent on Flat Holm and Barry Island. The village (Cadoc’s Town)took its name from the church, which was founded in 800 AD.

Merthyr Dyfan Church, situated in the north of Barry, was founded in 600 AD and the name means Dyfan The Martyr. There were two saints of this name: one journeyed to Barry to convert the inhabitants to Christianity; the second lived in the Sixth Century and was the son of a Welsh chieftain. His sister was also martyred and the town of Merthyr Tydfil is named after her.

The Christian faith grew exponentially in the Vale of Glamorgan and in the middle of the 2nd. Century, Llewrwg, Prince of Siluria, became the first king, anywhere in the world of all time, to be baptized into the Christian faith. He sent to Rome for more Chritian teachers and was sent Dyfan and Fagan. The former was martyred near the site of the church and the latter was canonized. St. Fagan’s just outside Cardiff was named after him.

Learning History At Home Schooling

Do you consider that spending time in traditional classrooms is a waste of time? For some people, that is probably true. For example, a test is coming up and the students are told to memorize a list of dates and names. However, after taking the exam, they will definitely forget 90% of those dates and names. That’s what most students do every time they have exams. If you are one of these people, you will find traditional history lessons boring, so home schooling, which concentrates more on the history of the world, will surely interest you more.

Simple memorization is not enough to realize the significance of famous people and important events. Through home schooling in history, you can learn about the different cultures of the past in a unique, but interesting way – your own way! Through the study of history, you will also understand the current situation of the world today.

If you think that home schooling is the most effective option for your child’s education, you should also be prepared to take on some responsibilities. Since there will be no teacher physically present, you will have to oversee your child’s educational progress yourself.

Let’s just suppose that your kid is interested in a particular sport. Through combining history and home schooling, you could start by just hanging a map on the wall of your child’s bedroom and mark the location of his favourite sports team. Make sure that you track all the team’s activities and schedules. Then, you could return to history lessons by reading biographies of the different athletes, who had been popular in the particular sport that your child enjoys. Apart from that, you could also study the history of that specific sport and discover where it originated, its inventor, and the other things happening at that particular time in history.

For instance, let’s say your child likes baseball, you could teach your child about the history baseball, government hearings on the use of steroids and other favourite pastimes at that period of time. But remember that you can apply this concept to any interest such as dancing, flight, cars or any invention. You can also have conversations with your child about current affairs or read interesting historical documents and other books. Aside from that, you can also watch documentaries together with the rest of the family. There are various resources that you can use in home schooling, such as TV, maps, newspapers, books, a globe, an atlas, and encyclopedias. Due of the exciting adventures that you and your child will read about and see on film, your child will find it easier to remember the names and dates of the history lessons. After all, education is better when it is done in a fun way.

These methods are recommended if the child is still young, but once your child is older, you must choose an appropriate home schooling program that is suitable for his/her age group. The programs are available at the elementary, high school, and even college levels. You just have to search online for these different programs. A good thing about these programs is that you can tailor them to suit the needs of your child. However, you must make sure that all the lessons are learned by your child.

Once you and your child decide to go for home schooling, you must be prepared for some changes to take place in your life. The learning environment will now be your home not a school and through the various resources that you can use including the computer and Internet.
